Our first day was August 9. I survived the first week :D
First day with students is August 30. Teachers are not allowed back in yet for setup/organization.
Teachers report back Aug 23 and students come Aug 30.
Teachers go back Mon the 16th, students first day is Aug 30
Here in Vietnam we are still waiting for the official announcement from the Goverment. Covid 19 pandemic seems to be worsen day by day. It's so glad to see how education still moves on in some parts of the world Kyle. Take care man.
Have to be honest…I giggled about “tootles!!” 🤭 I just started my sixth year. The superintendent sent an email saying “If you have stuff in your classroom that you have never used then throw it away!!” And I DID!!! It’s sooo freeing! I kept my file cabinets to store decor, snacks, etc. because I don’t have traditional cabinets. The year is starting out so organized and I just feel so good about it!! Hope your year is awesome!! We have our first full day tomorrow!!!!! Thanks for your videos!

I just threw out a bunch of stuff in my classroom. I've been in the room the past year. If no one came and got it, it obviously wasn't important. I have so much more room! I agree with you whole heartedly!

Oh my goodness. You were literally talking straight to me when you said get rid of all those junk papers left by old teachers. You are right, I probably won't go through it, there's never enough time!!

Hey Kyle, u make my day. I love your honestly and upbeat attitude. I will be taking over a grade 5 class for the entire year and sure enough the previous teacher had many copies of extra papers. However I did make the executive decision to sort out what I thought would be beneficial to me. I totally agree with you to with have most if not all documents online.. That was the best decision ever for me. 😅😅😅 Funny though was reluctant to jump into the tech world..I did also go ahead and move my stuff to the upper floor class where I will be.. and did arrange the student furniture but just got a memo from our ministry that we will be online until further notice..So yea... thanks for sharing your journey.

As a retiring teacher, I went through all my files. I left 1 copy of every lesson. As the librarian there were also records I had to keep and I left all of those.

I completely agree with getting rid of paper copies and files!! I do not keep them either!!
I’ve taken over a few classrooms and have literally kept ONE thing in all that mess! It was a game and NOT paper. You’re giving excellent advice 🎉Just throw it all away! You’ll have your own things you want to do anyway!

I took a room that was a math classroom last year (I teach Social Studies) 🤦♀️ there were unused workbooks in the closet, TPT papers in the filing cabinet, stuff I didn't need just EVERYWHERE... It was a mess for a very long time in my room but we are almost there!!

I hope that administrators will give teachers examples of acceptable seating arrangements due to the pandemic. I still have three sided shields on each of the desks, and am waiting for the updates about seating arrangements. School started for me on August 11, and it does feel strange to have students back in class on the first day since August 2019.
Love your room setup! WHERE DID YOU GET THE LAPTOP CART FROM??? I am going into my first year teaching and will be teaching 4th grade. One thing I didn't like while student teaching was that I had to sit while modeling for the students. I want the option to stand as much as possible.

hey, i have an idea for a prize they can make tiny paper houses or something and you can get the little erasers like animals or something else and you can call them desk pets and they can just collect them as a prize for when they follow expectations.

throw it away!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL NEVER GO THROUGH IT! Learn the hard way or just follow the advice. The choice is yours. BUT I did keep the filing cabinet to store headphones and supplies. LOL!!!!!!!
