To go from picking through junk all the way to presenting beautiful metal sculptures is an incredible experience and what everyone showcased is nothing short of phenomenal. Thank you WELD, Beau and Warren for taking the time to shed some light on ScrapFest and all it has to offer. See you all next year! 🤖 💀
Everyone living my dream. I am a scrapart builder and blacksmith. Looking to find a scrapyard to let me pick . So far I work with what I can gather outside the scrapyard.
Thanks for the coverage. Think it would have been more interesting to ask Bob Welton about how he created the lovely color finish on his Peacock sculpture as opposed to making him strut like a peacock.
Steels in my blood. Jokingly i can almost smell steel hiding in the weeds. Im 63 yo and can remember even before I was old enough to attend school watching dad build things. Mostly farm equipment repairs and trailer wagon builds. All these years later I have his tools and memories to go with them.
I’m in between Flint and Lapeer Michigan. I have been trying to get into the welding industry for about a year now. And I can’t find any one to give me a chance to lean the industry. I do have a small amount of experience due to working at a steel company. But things didn’t work out at that place but I was able to get 3 months of training on my lunch breaks. I was wondering if someone could throw a life line out to me. I really want to get into the industry I will say the guy that was training me said I have a natural talent with welding.
Go into a shop you’re interested in locally around 2pm during working hours and ask for the owner or manager for a job. Don’t ask around. Just do it yourself. You’ll be glad you did.
It was such a cool exprience to go and check this out and can't wait to go back next year and hopefully have a build of my own!
