    Barbie The Welder is an American metal sculptor, published author of six books, and an advocate for the skilled trades from Pompano Beach, Florida.
    Growing up in a deeply creative home, Barbie’s Mom is a published cartoonist and her Dad a jack of all trades, Barbie was encouraged by both parents to work with her hands and mind to create. Inspired by the movie Cast Away, starring Tom hanks, Barbie attended an adult welding program at Elmira, New York Boces in November 2007 and was hired at Cameron Manufacturing And Design in Horseheads, New York in March 2008 where she learned the art of welding and fabrication from the brilliant craftsman she worked with. Barbie took her fabrication skills home and taught herself how to design and create art in her garage after work at night and on the weekends.
    Barbie quit her job she loved to realize her dream and become a full-time artist September 1, 2014.
    Because of the influence Bob Ross had on her growing up, Barbie began teaching how to weld art through her TH-cam channel in 2015 after not being able to find resources to learn.
    Soon after she was invited by a publisher to write a book teaching how to weld art, and How To Weld Horseshoe Art; 30 Projects You Can Easily Weld At Home was born. Barbie went on to write and self publish five more books, How To Weld Scrap Metal Art; 30 Easy Welding Projects You Could Make At Home, How To Weld Silverware Animals Metal Art Welding Projects For Fun and Profit, The Inspiration Blueprint; How To Design and Create Your Inspired Life, Fuck You Fuel; How To Turn Shit Into Sugar, and The Artist Guide To Branding, Marketing and Selling Art Online.
    Working with Bogi Latiner for a month in 2017 on Bogi’s Girl Gang Garage all woman’s frame up build of a 57 Chevy pick up later unveiled at Sema became a mentorship for Barbie that continues to help her grow herself and her business. Barbies other inspirations include Indian Larry and Billy Lane both who caught her attention through the TV series biker build off in early 2000. The craftsmanship and creativity of both men spoke to her soul.
    Barbie started out riding on the gas tank of her dad‘s Honda motorcycle because she was too little to hold on sitting behind him, so when she was asked by Jesse James Dupree, lead singer of Jackyl, to design and create two sculptures for Harley Davidson she jumped at the chance driving the 24 hours to Sturgis by herself from NY and sculpting HOGs 35th anniversary sculpture live at Sturgis motorcycle rally at the Pappy Hoyle Campground and then she returned home to sculpt Harley Davidson’s 115th anniversary sculpture in her garage which was later presented to Harley Davidson on stage during the Jackyl concert at the 115 anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.
    Barbie has welded live at Americade Motorcycle Rally, SEMA show in Vegas for Miller Welders, Harley Davidsons 115th Anniversary, and at shows and events up and down the east coast.
    Barbie has designed and created sculptures for Miller Welders, the American Welding Society, Chicago Pneumatic, Carolina Shoe Company, two cities and clients in many countries.

    Wow😮 it’s beautiful.
    I can’t even imagine pricing the projects you build.
    For fabrication. 70$ an hr (cash)is what I like making.
    My friend owns a plasma cutting shop I have access to a ton of Drop parts. You have been a great inspiration and muse.

      The pricing part was the hardest in the beginning I’m getting better at it it’s getting easier as I’m going along. I personally have found the higher self-esteem, the higher price I’m willing to put on my art pretty exciting to see that correlation.🫶🏻☺️

    This is my favorite video. It is so very inspiring in so many different ways. The dedication, hard work, the love poured into it, perspective perspective perspective this video has it all. I lost it as you were working on the hair. All at once you were bashing the back of her head with a hammer...it was pretty funny from this view. I was like oh no! Lady Liberty wut she doing to ya lol. Great video, unbelievable work, excellent outcome. Thanks for sharing.

    I found a 3 tone arbor press that I love for bending sheet metal. Good for making long smooth curves or tighter beds. I haven't built a tool for sharp angles but I'm guessing you could do that if you needed to. I wouldn't get anything that has a ratchet drive, I don't need one that big anyway. Food for thought.

      Good call on the hearing protection! I love my hearing! I have purchased high end earplugs since making this video that I use anytime I’m in the shop even if I’m just welding. I buy quarter inch round bar that is the least expensive I believe that it is hot rolled.

    I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE I MET YOU AT RICHMOND RACEWAY, BARBIE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!! I met my inspiration, my hero-I know in my heart, always, you will be my mentor, friend & sister of Alchemy. For those of you wonderful women seeking the trades, when I met Barbie, she generously & without hesitation gave me her 1st piece of metal work, a spoon turned the ring of arcs & sparks destiny. I’m still in tearful awe beyond comprehension that a piece of her art, an extension of her heart, is bestowed upon my finger this very instinct & ridiculously fits perfect-a solid sign that the universe moved in my favor to assure me of my welding pathway. The best moment of my new life!! Thank you goddess of metal, I LOVE YOU!!!! And the first custom women’s BMX bike in the OLYMPICS & Xgames will be my work, with you by my own big bull heart. I can’t remember if I told you my name as I was overwhelmed by your encouraging strength & realism, but this is ‘Always Late Kate’.

    • @BarbieTheWelder
      @BarbieTheWelder  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s awesome! Do you forge the entire hand of of flat stock and cut the fingers? I’ve forged 3 knives, two with help of brilliant craftsmen, and can imagine a couple ways to do that. Really fantastic insight! I’ll have to think on this! I appreciate you!!!

    • @brysonalden5414
      @brysonalden5414 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I forge the fingers out of round stock and forge weld them to thicker stock which forms the hand. Once I tried doing it all out of 1/2" flat stock to avoid forge welding but it made me crazier than usual, so I went back to forge welding. @@BarbieTheWelder

    My favorite video of yours by far! Talk about dedication! This one really showed how extensive your skills are. I love hands too! I have molded and carved 3 out of clay, but never thought of doing it in steel! My brain is spinning already on that! Thanks so much for putting these videos out. I love women that do things I was told as a kid, girls could never do! When I found a video of Jessi Combs welding, I was hooked and a fan. Watched every video I could find of her welding. She was the real deal! Then I found yours and I’m so grateful to again learn from another awesome woman. Men are great and I learn from them. But women are special because we’re doing something we were told we couldn’t! Love it! Looking forward to your next one!!!!

      I miss my badass sister. Jessi was someone I deeply admired and was honored to call her friend. I totally fangirled on her when I met her and cried when she told me when she told me she knew who i was and followed me.

      @@BarbieTheWelder That’s awesome that you got to meet her! And it’s even better that she knew who you were! Your heart shows through your videos. I can tell you’re a very good hearted person and you share your knowledge without “holding back” welding tips and tricks that’s needed to really understand how to achieve the know how. That’s very much appreciated. My welding has literally improved greatly and so has my imagination, just because of your videos. I say all this, not to blow smoke up your skirt, so to say, but to verify to you that you’ve made a difference in the lives of others with sharing your life and knowledge with us. So thank you for that gift! I look forward to many more of your projects. You go girl!
