    Gulls circling, fog horns, new lambs, music and especially love makes me happy. I collect memories, the priceless and irreplaceable things that collectively make up out lives. Oh I own a few guitars eh but making art is the best for all of the reasons stated.

    Its a pity that while the Jaguar was in Chads workshop that the door handles, door trim and sidelights weren't removed. Apart from that it's great to see one of these being renovated.

    These old jags are amazing engineering for there time, they thought of everything. with twin fuel tanks etc.
    I said this before about the dash boards.
    The tree farmers would bash the trees to get more marks in the wood.
    More marks, more expensive the vineeer.

    I would take the door handles off to paint always leaves that ridge taping them off.. Plus tighten up the door gap look cleaner..

    I think you will still see the blend in you new paint job at the point where you are meeting the silver. I think you should have just stripped the bottom as well because if you were having problems with the black on top you'll be having the same problem under the silver paint.

    • @michaelbristol6467
      @michaelbristol6467 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The silver was already done recently, the black is old. 😉

      That’s not all as then you could perfect all the gaps as well. Right now he’s just bodyshoping it to just the ‘get by’ get it out the door job

    As Chad is sanding the paint there are places that show up with bubbles and imperfections from improper preparation. I agree to stripping off all you can get to. Open the doors to access the areas around the door to windshield pillar, best way to eliminate damage to trim. The good preparation will ensure a good paint spray out. Re-mask the car before paint to remove hidden sanding dust that may be trapped under the chrome trim and masking paper. Chad already knows the routine. I love your dedication to doing it right the first time around. Detail is everything.

    I like to use a 3m green 3” bristle disc to take off the chips and any left over paint. It wont take off any metal or warp and it can get pretty close to an edge. I use to use other ways and found this one quite handy try it out works great.

    Nice video! But to be clear 5000 invested in 1970 in stock market and dividends reinvested would have grown on average close to 200000 as of today. Which is not bad either in my opinion.

    • @michaelbristol6467
      @michaelbristol6467 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grease or wax usually or oil etc...prevention is a clean surface with a grease and wax remover. Chad uses spray 9 and windex which works well.

      A fish eye is a small contaminate (spec of grease, silicone, oil or anything that is a repellent of paint) in the middle of a convex dent in the top coat. Can come from air line or dust from the surrounding atmosphere.

    I always stack my thoughts up against logic. You said you were leaving that black edge, along the tape line because you wanted the separation . . . I reason the easiest thing to remove and reapply is the pinstriping . . . why didn't you remove it, sand to the edge, and then reapply pinstripe to have a neat, clean separation . . . just logic?
