  • Doug has asked that the antenna and mirror holes be welded up so we're going to fab a small piece, weld it in, grind it, fill it out and show how to sand it using an electric DA 🔥 www.hiltzautoc...

Now that I have been working from home a long while I have realized that my Dog seems to be able to read the clock dial and tell when it is 5:00....her feeding time. I am thinking she can read the dial because the daylight savings time shift recently when we set the clocks ahead did not effect her estimation of time and she came and found me as usual just a few minutes before 5....So ...I never have to set a reminder to watch the Chad and Jolene show as it premieres, but often I am busy working on my own projects and grateful that I can watch them anytime.
I especially enjoy how your show is somewhat random at times, folks drop in during the video or when you are out visiting a place , you are considerate and deliberate to pan the camera around very slowly and linger on details that are interesting, that is very nice camera work when you pan or move the camera super slow like that....Thank you especially for thinking to do that. I like to see what people choose to hang on the shop wall, or in the homes, or see how a shopping cart can be used as a cart for storing heads off the ground.
All really great stuff and I congratulate your ability and dedication towards making or finding interesting content to share every day. I also really enjoy seeing details of the building you have there and seeing how things are different where you are compared to where I live and the places I have been. I worked in Brazil a while and was fascinated by things I noticed that were different and made me curious as to why.....for instance; in Sao Paulo I noticed very many cars had huge oversized chrome trailer hitch balls on very small cars, never saw anyone pull a trailer either, I found out they install them to keep people off their rear bumper when parking in the very tight and crowded city. The hitch balls were ridiculously large, looked like a 4 inch dia..maybe more.
My brother married a Canadian girl and I am planning a trip up that way this summer, hope to be able to catch a car show or two while there just to see what its like
looking forward to seeing your approach to welding in the antenna and mirror holes, I have done a few of those myself and is always a nice touch to smooth out the car...I usually remove every emblem and backup lanterns they used to use back then ....

You can cover these small irregularities on the weld with tin. It is a bit more complicated to apply - it must be alternately heated and applied, and sanding itself is a bit harder, but the result is a completely clean metal surface that does not require the application of fillers at all, except for primers, of course.

when i need to patch round holes i put a dent puller nail in the middle with a pin gun, then i can put it in a drill and get it round real quick, the nail is a great way to hold it in place esp if its a non access hole from behind

Thanks Chad for that information 15:58 that is what separates a good teacher from a great teacher.Small blowouts like that could freak out a student .Could be rust spot behind or a small in-purity in the metal.

You do great on your metal work but you need to get your filler more better. Shape with 40 then skin coat and finish with 80 wipe with 180 then prime. If you try to fill with prime the scratches will come back over time
