Good video. Your comment about how stiff track mode is was interesting. I have the DSC Magnetuner suspension controller on my car and track mode is actually quite comfortable and streetable. I recently drove a friend's stock GT350R. His car felt 100% stiffer in normal mode than mine does in track. And to answer another question most owners do notice a fair amount of tramlining.
Cool vid. Never knew you could actually see the other dampening modes by looking at them in the other drive modes. BTW I was doing some 0-60's the other day in track mode and found the ASC still too picky to get a good launch. Long hold on the TC button turned it off and allowed the spin I needed.
So what mode will most likely lessen your chances of becoming a TH-cam crash video? What mode is launching people off the road into crowds? Seems like advance track off would give you more control of the car.
Thanks for the video.. you saved me a bunch of dry reading. So I took delivery of my GT350R yesterday. It goes without saying that I think the car is epic. I have a question for you and anyone else with a 350 in the comments. I noticed when driving on a road that has pretty pronounced grooves from traffic tires, the car really has a tendency to pull hard left and right when riding in, or on top of, those grooves. If I don't hold the wheel it will yank the car into the other lane.. I understand why but I would have thought the steering would have been dampened better to prevent this. For example my E39 M5 has 9.5 inch wide front tires and it doesn't pull at all. Are you, or other, GT350 owners experiencing this on well used highways? Again, thanks for the videos.
GunfightersINC sorry for the late reply. Yes, I experienced the same thing. Most vehicles with large front tires, think 295 and larger will have this tendency. -Adam
@GunfightersINC i have the same setup as the 350 on my 16 GT and it does exactly the same. Its kind of annoying. It never did it with my stock wheels but now it does.
My 2018 GT350 has the same steering instability; every crack, bump, or rut guides the direction of the wheels, this is quite frustrating, and makes for a not so enjoyable drive. I worked and saved for 40 years to get my Shelby and don't like the way it drives. I've tried both normal and sport modes, but the issue continues. Buying this car set my savings back to the stone age, which now seems to have been a bad decision.
I leave the steering in normal on the street. I have tried the steering in sport multiple times on the street but the car tends to tramline too much. It's got EPAS obviously like almost all new cars do so essentially by changing the steering modes you're just changing the amount of assist the electric servo offers. Thanks for commenting
2017 and on came standard with the track pack instead of making it an option. That's why when I purchased a pre-owned, I went with a 2017. Nothing on the steering wheel would indicate if you have oil coolers etc. installed in your 2015 or 16 vehicle.
@@Michael_00001 I’m shopping around for a 16’ 350, aside from the track pack spoiler are there any other ways to tell if it’s a track pack or not? Not many 17’s in my area.
@@wclutch If I'm not mistaken, Track Pack will have an aluminum strut brace as opposed to steel. Pop the hood and you'll know right away. It will also have diff and oil coolers. It's worth finding one with the track pack because adding a diff cooler will run you $4300 alone just for the part(s).
What if you want it to default to sport mode when you start the car in the morning? Could you program it to remember, for example, Sport damping, Sport steering, and Normal exhaust?
I do not recommend sport mode in traffic on a freeway. I almost had an 18 wheeler come over on me and I of course reacted to get away from him however the car reacted violently, because of my quick reaction and I was then headed for the concrete barrier in the middle of the road. That required reacting again to avoid that! I found myself quickly going back the other way. I did manage to recover but it was VERY scary. So... I don't drive in sport mode in heavy traffic.
Very interesting tutorial - thanks! One question - do your modifications to each mode get changed back to default once you turn the car off? I think it would be nice to have one or two programmable modes, so you could create your own selection of settings without restrictions. Other than that it looks like a pretty good system.
That's a great idea and I wish you could create a mode you could save as "your mode" but unfortunately no. Every time you turn the car off it all resets back to the default settings. It can get a little annoying because every time you start the car you have to reselect the mode you want and customize it to your liking. I wish Ford would read this comment and make a change to this. Good idea.
Yeah, I can see that getting a bit annoying, but looks like the rest of the package more than makes up for it ;) On a side note - the content of this channel is very enjoyable. I like the analytical approach that you guys have to your cars and driving, tuning and maintaining them. Please keep it up!
albert Whatzetooya I’m referring to the Magnetorheological dampers also called “magnaride”. Essentially you’re changing the rate of dampening or shock absorption as you select the different drive modes i.e. “track” mode or “sport” mode. I hope that makes sense. -Adam

I have a bad road outside my neighborhood with a lot of grooves in it, and the GT350 pulls pretty hard like you said - have to pay attention!

How do I get rid of the Track Only setting back to normal. Reason I ask is I notice status it says Track Only
Mike Mariscal every time you restart the car it should reset back to normal.
I might have missed this, for normal use, what is your steering setup as?

Question: Is there a way to tell if car has the track pack by just looking at steering wheel or center console?
What? No.
