The 2022 Geely Emgrand is now in the Philippines and is Geely Philippines' first sedan offering. In this Filipino car review, we take a tour of the Geely Emgrand Premium and see what sort of features it has to offer. The Geely Emgrand Premium is the top-spec variant here in the Philippines, while the Geely Emgrand Comfort is the base spec. The 2022 Geely Emgrand Premium has the same price as the Toyota Raize G, as well as the Toyota Vios, the Honda City, and the new Nissan Almera. The Geely Emgrand Premium has a more premium cabin than the Geely Coolray, but the 2022 Geely Emgrand is meant to be a luxury cruiser more than a fast car. Will the 2022 Geely Emgrand Premium have the same success as the Geely Coolray and the Geely Okavango? Only time will tell.

@@ReygansRides by the way sir Rey, that trunk automatic detection system is also a good feature, but does it have an option to disable that system and just stick to the push button in the keyfob?

It seems like the Comfort and Premium variants are launched initially to gauge market interest. The next logical step here for Geely is to launch a Sports variant which should have a turbocharged engine. With its size and value for money, this could be an underrated daily driver.

This will give the Vios a good challenge, and its only a matter of time as most pinoys do not trust the brand just yet.. But some young buyers might prefer this Emgrand as it is way much better than the usually standard Vios and other stablished brands.. Im optimistic that this car will do great in the Ph market.. And some stablished brands are probably trembling upon the launch of this car..

The Premium version should have got a 1.5L Turbo for more power and the drive modes like the Coolray sports.
Thats the backlash but no need. The price will gone up and the turbo brand will envy this segment. BTW regular use full pack and trunk plus full tank. We didn't get any trouble in acceleration. The bad thing just happened is they increase the price. That's the stop gradually on sales.

Very good review Sir Rey. Emgrand is like an MG5 Alpha without 360cam, sunroof dedicated button, less engine power, without steering modes selection(?), but with a bit more good-looking design (exterior & interior), digital dashboard, maybe fuel efficiency and ofc less price (908k vs 938k MG 5 Alpha). We need a comparo!
For the price. It's really scores an upset
I would have bought this if it had a turbocharged engine like the Coolray, sadly it didn't have one. I went with the Tiggo 7 Pro.

Gr8 video! The coolray & okavango r popular & azkara in the sideline in the ph? Here in malaysia the coolray & azkara equivalents right hand-drive the x50 & x70 selling like 🔥 cakes esp that x50/coolray. The okavango equivalent dubbed the x90 is running on tests througout the country now & launching soon. Hope they're making right hand-drive of this awesome emgrand in malaysia - think they might call it as s50.😅 Good day from 🇲🇾☺️

One of the best review. The only problem with Geely brand is that they have a high defective units.
9months now. Where still not disappointed. They're improved on this segment. 300+ owners on our private GC are counting more odo one is 15k on odo for 6months still stable.
Emgrand sold over 3 million units over 12 years in china. They had sufficient time and experience to iron out major problems in this 4th generation emgrand before exporting it.
As always, sir Rey’s review is straightforward and has no bias regardless of car brands.

I'm torn between the Emgrand (Mid) and the Alsvin (High). Based on your observations, which do you recommend? I'm looking for a budget sedan around 700k+. Thanks!
if you value interior/exterior aestetics and quality go for emgrand. but for engine power/responsiveness go for alsvin. though there is no drive impression yet for emgrand. try waiting for that. emgrands interior is bonkers it feels like you are in a BMW

I think it is STUPID to put the Start Stop Button next to climate control button. Normally when driving we would just feel our way through the switches while driving. We don't gaze the switchea while taking our eyes out of the Road. What happened if you accidentally hit the stop Button when actual fact you want to increase fan switch.
Best to isolate the Start Stop Button and put the button near the " KEY" usual place.
The difference between the 3 crossovers and the Emgrand is the grille design. For the Coolray, Azkarra, and Okavango (Philippine-spec) has Expanding Cosmos (Later for 2022 model year in China for the Okavango/Haoyue, now gets Energy Pulse Vertical), while the Emgrand is Energy Pulse Vertcal.

Chinese luxury cars are expensive in China but in the Philippines, Chinese luxury cars are budget friendly/cheap/affordable.
With the war between Russia and Ukraine happening, there are news that fuel prices will go up as much as Php100/Liter. Is it still advisable to get a personal car at this point? Apologies, question from a first time car buyer and I'm preferring to get a GCR Sport Limited.
well whether you accept it or not, the gcr has the higher cost of ownership interms of maintaining it.

@@Bosdaks it has a faster engine, it sits more gas but not that much and DCT is a bit harder to fix if it ever have problems but CVT has a higher chance of breaking tho. Everything is still depending on ypur budget sir but yeah, I'm just stating the pros and cons that could either discourage you in purchasing or for you to learn more about what you will get. Ride safe.

I think a Luxury variant is forthcoming once Geely have gauged the feel of the market and hopefully, it will be turbocharged and with tech like that of the Coolray Sport Limited.

So far 2 variants, Comfort and Premium, both with CVT. Manual trim may come as well.

The City RS and the Almera have better tech features, but the Emgrand's cabin materials and space is best in the category.

In fairness, my family's Vios and my brother's Wigo, though lackluster in cabin materials and infotainment system, are pretty much durable.

@@meteorgaming8332 I haven't driven the current Vios yet, so can't comment talaga. Materials-wise, hard plastics talaga pero the Vios GRSport has better tech na din.

Rear AC and port and load of tech and feartures at its price point its something that you dont see in other competitors if i have to buy a sedan this is my top list :)
Interesting sedan, it also has a sharp look to it. However it's lacking what it needs to push it over the top.

You get a lot for your dollars or your Philippine pesos , it looks good but how long is it going to last . It will probably deprecated faster than the Zimbabwean dollar.
