In this video the DP (Alex Botton) and I are going to breakdown the main scenes and sequences of the cycling documentary. So the gear, settings, and apps we used, which lenses, which lights, and the intention behind each frame. In terms of the scenes we will discuss the interviews and the riding scenes of course but also several other indoor and outdoor scenes.
I already made a behind the scenes video if you want to know more about this project, how it came about and what happened during and after the shoot.
This is a long one but hopefully you’ll find it interesting as we do go over pretty much every scene from the documentary.
And again thank you so much for the positive feedback on the documentary it really means a lot!
Let me know if you have any more questions :)
Cheers,
Flo

This is the Cinematography Breakdown of my latest documentary: The 90 Year Old Cyclist.
Which scene did you prefer?
Cheers,
Flo
I didn't have a favorite, I enjoyed all of them. I liked the contrast between the different scenes using different temperature and so on to fit the scenes.
I really like the one where your grandfather and his friend were looking at the pictures. Of course, the solo shots of your grandfather riding his bike were probably the best part. So good! Bravo 👏🏼
Great job, Flo. I just got a BMPCC 6K G2 and your work has me very excited/inspired to start creating!
Thanks so much and happy shooting ☺️🎥
brilliant!
Thank you!!
Inspirational, thank you!
Thanks a lot ☺️🙏 !!
The legend that is Of Two Lands, thank you for bringing us amazing content non-stop
You're too kind!! Thanks for taking the time to watch it :)
Hey mate, beautiful scenes!! Does you using the DZO glass mean you've moved on from the Meike?
Hey, thanks! Yes and no. I got the DZO for this project in particular and I still intended to keep the Meikes but not selling them as I need lenses I can use on both the 6K pro and the Full frame 6K. :)
Beautiful video good sir! I'm curious where you got the bounce and flag for the negative fill from?
Thank you!! From B&H :)
Very nicely shot. I noticed you had the Nisi C5 but didn't talk about it in the video. Was it just for ND because the 6K doesn't have them? How did it perform? Are there still issues with the flag staying in position?
Thank you!! I did mention it in the BTS video. We used it on the regular 6K and on the Pro at some point I believe, both to use the IRND filters and also to control flares :). Always liked that MB!
Great documentary and filming Flo. Congratulations and keep up the good work next year. Quick question: for editing what hardware/software do you work with? I couldn’t find some tech advice when configuring a Mac for editing smoothly. Happy New Year and Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much!! I transcode in Resolve and edit/grade in FCPX :). Pretty much all M macs are doing great and Davinci would be the fastest if I had to recommend one software. Happy holidays :)
@@OfTwoLands merci beaucoup! Happy Holidays too!

Thanks so much for taking the time to watch it 🙏☺️
Great video as always Flo! I loved reliving this project in the BTS and also now through the breakdowns too. Appreciate how generous you are with your information and I was stoked that you had me on board for this project. Cannot wait for the next one! 🙏🎉
Thank you mate!! I am so glad we got to do this and I loved re watching all the behind the scenes, such a fun shoot! Thanks a ton for your experience on set again man, made such a difference :)
@@OfTwoLands of course! Any time. Can’t wait to make it a regular thing 🤘
@@alex-bottongreat job, Alex. Following you now 👍🏼

I really love watching these and seeing how you guys work together (and why you make certain choices)!! Nice job
Thanks Darling :) xx
We are filling an interview today and this has been really helpful. Thank you!
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching ☺️
ces DZO Retro ont l'air fous
Ils sont plutôt cool 😍🔥
Did you film in constant quality or constant bitrate and which compression setting did you use? Did I miss that in the video?
I shot in 6K BRAW 12:1 :)
@@OfTwoLands thank you! I mostly shoot in 12:1 (for hard drive space) but often wonder if I should at least be shooting 8:1 or something higher.
@@OfTwoLandsI just got a BMPCC 6K G2 and was wondering about compression rates too. I wonder if you could make a video explaining when to use what.
Amazing. Thank you for this!
Thanks for watching!!
Lenses look great!
☺️🙏
Great work.
Thanks!!
That lighting at 6:59 is beautiful 👌
