For the past 10 years I have been filming short documentaries and in this video I want to talk about one aspect of documentary work, the cinematography. Hope you enjoy it and find it useful! Cheers, Flo
"Never pick a camera for the camera or the brand, it has to fit the project and your line of work." More words of wisdom. We are absolutely spoiled in the choices for gear out there as well as Davinci Resolve and the various software tools to go along with that. More than enough to make amazing images across any platform.
Thank you very much for this very informative and detailed video on color grading! This is exactly what I've been wanting for! I know that it required a lot of work and time to create this video, so once again, thank you soon very much and good luck in your creative endeavors! Looking forward to more amazing videos from you!
Nice piece brother! Lots of really good quality valuable information in there!!! I’d love to add that ‘taste’ is a really big part of all of those things - lighting, grading, framing, camera movement, and that’s why your work really shines too is because you have really good taste. It’s often about the subtleties and I think that taste is what makes the final piece greater than the sum of all of its parts. Really good work and your portfolio looks so strong when it’s put together like that! Keep on going man, we’ll all be working for you soon enough haha 🎉❤
Thank you baby, your words always mean so much to me!! I am glad we got to work together on some of these projects and looking forward to doing more asap! Half of these wouldn't be as nice without your skills and eye! In we dont't find a way to another doco in 2024 then 2025 we will have to make 2 haha! Miss you brother ❤
Thank you for this video. Its one of the most high yield I've seen. Do you have any tips being more intentional about getting slow motion coverage, or knowing when to shoot at higher fps for slow motion?
Thanks so much for the positive feedback!! I usually make the decision based on the action or to add some variety to the piece or to maximise my time. I never slow down things in post, always in camera. I don't often do . Water and sports would be the main reasons as well as specific actions such as the forge.
Hi man, what amazing footages! I trying to realize several small documentaries about animals, people and environments. I use GH5II and GH5s and different lenses but very often my problem is the light. I mean not only how much light I have but overall about the light's quality: the direction, the color, the hardness, etc. Workin almost ever alone and in open air I can't control those aspects and the results is often a compromise. Do you always work with an assistant?
Thank you!! I totally understand you as I work on my own most of the time and that's the reason I make use of natural light anytime I can. I try to work with people as often as I can though as it helps!
Thank you!! Now I mostly shoot BRAW since I use the 6K FF a lot or I mix cameras. But I use both and love both. I would say soon I will probably use only BRAW for all cameras based on the way BM is making their new cams.
salut Florian. Peux tu nous donner tes réglages caméra (Fréquence d'images, shutter speed et iso) que tu as utilisé dans les documentaires sur ton grand père cycliste, et sur le forgeron stp ?
I Have A question to ask? Hope you reply and briefly explain this Why does BMCC footage Look great on its own monitor rather than using external monitors like feel world lut7 is it because the external monitors have limited colours.

Hey love your content! I wantedt to ask what gimbals do you use for the pro?
Thank you!! I use the RS4 Pro now for all my cameras :)
@@OfTwoLands thanks!
Which 2nd lens focal length would you recommend for doc work? I currently have a 35-80.

Not sure what you mean, it looks great on my SmallHD one for example.
