This guy and this fix worked really well for me and I recommend to others. Well explained and first class. Unlike the other 2 top Google search video's, one of which shows somebody not finding the problem and not fixing the issue, with some useful tips on checking the power supply, the other Lenovo video completely fails and just points you to a Lenovo service centre. For an 8 year old, much loved, Yoga that isn't a viable option.....
Thank you for your clear and easy to follow instructions, my 6year old Yoga is working again, just as I was considering having to buy another laptop. 🎉
You would not believe how much this tutorial means to me. Next week is finals and my Yoga Slim 7 has been acting up since about 10 days ago, turning off on its own whenever it gets shaken. Plus the fan could only go either extremely loud or completely off, nothing in between. I finally had the time to check it today, and found out that there was a huge buildup of dust and lint around the fan. I brushed everything the best I could and got rid of the lint. Turned the laptop back on, and the power problem was already gone. I opened the back again to give it a final cleanup and check the connections. This time, something went completely wrong. After I put it together, the laptop wouldn't turn on, nor would it charge. I went on a bit of a panic mode for 1,5 hours trying to figure out what went wrong until I came across your tutorial. I did everything you showed, and voila, the laptop is back in working order. 😭 Thank you so much for making this tutorial. You've saved me from a lot of anxiety of having to rework a lot of my papers and presentations and to look for a temporary replacement. God bless you.
Thank you for this - it works! Had this exact issue on Yoga 9i, drained the battery and reboot not possible. Followed these simple steps. A little scary to pull the battery plug - but - it does the trick!
Greeting's from the UK. THANK YOU. My Lenovo 11e stopped working last night and I followed your instructions and BINGO my computer came back to life.❤ Thanks again because now I can do my job and earn my money 💸 💰
Thank you! I can confirm this works on a Lenovo Yoga 7i. I updated the BIOS and 12 hours later I closed the lid and it went dead. I tried the reset button and everything else I read and nothing worked. I removed the back, followed your procedure and it worked perfectly! Thanks again!😉
I am far from a computer geek, I watched your video, and you explained the steps and process where I could understand, my laptop (lenova yoga 720) is working great thank you very much
Success! Mine did not turn back on when I plugged in the battery so I instead left it on at the initial turn on and then plugged in the battery while it was still on. Battery now charging and works unplugged!
Left my Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 for two weeks on battery (and probably in sleep state) and it must've drained completely. Now it will not turn on if the battery is connected. When connected to the charger the charging orange led blinking, power button white led blinking. So it does not charge the battery, it doesn't turn on. If I remove the battery (unplug from the mobo) laptop turns on. If I connect battery again it refuses to turn on as before. And the battery was even in a very decent state before this, I had no complaints. Could it be some charging controller on the motherboard that went bad?
I was skeptical that this simple fix would solve the problem with my Yoga 6 but it worked! This is my first Lenovo and I never had such a problem with other brands. Why they haven’t fixed this bug by now I do not know.
Appreciate that. Didnt thibk it would work for me. Just replaced a new battery and this happened to me, no mention from the company thatbthis is a possibily and what to do in this case. Thanks 👍
Thank you so very much - this simple fix thanks to your very succinct instructions has saved me days of being deprived of my computer and doubtless a pricey workshop charge. Thank you so very much sir.
This didn't work for my Yoga 9i. But when plugged in, the little light never lights. same power supply works on different Yoga, so it is not the power supply. So hoped this would work.
Having the same issue, I just tried this. It worked but soon after putting it back together, I am back to square 1. Any other suggestions would appreciate it
My Lenovo yoga laptop is showing a message DEFAULT BOOT DEVICE MISSING OR BOOT FAILED. INSERT RECOVERY MEDIA AND HIT ANY KEY ETC How can I find help since I don't have tools to open it up?
I did this and it did not work. I changed the battery and it started up and had 15% charge. we left it charging and wen to bed it will not turn on again this morning. What is the next thing to check?
This hasn't fixed the problem for me. You lost me at holding on the power button to reset the laptop. Maybe I have to do it for longer than 15 seconds?
Hi. I've tried many of the U-tube video "tricks" and mine simply won't charge or come on. I've tried disconnecting the battery and plugging in the charger and still get nothing. It's a new charger I just bought from Best Buy. I can't find a CMOS battery and don't even see any ram sticks. My unit is a Lenovo Chromebook S340-14 Touchscreen only 4.5 years old but rarely used. I ordered a new main battery and it should be here Friday. Hopefully somehow that will fix it
Chromebooks are built different, think of them as a tablet in a laptop shape. They won't have a bios battery, not removable Ram- most of them also have a soldered in solid state drive. This video does not apply to Chromebooks unfortunately.
Good morning. A few days ago i did replace my laptop yoga 920 13ikb battery for a new one, since that the power botton is not working, but when i plug in the charger the laptop runs automatically, and the battery is fine, when i unplug the charging cable the laptop runs just fine, when i turned off the laptop and immediately push the power botton it works, but if i turned it off for more than 10 minuts the power botton dont work... I tried updating the bios, but still have the issues Please help
Nice video. I got a dead Lenovo Yoga 14TL5. I let the battery go dead for weeks and now it won't turn on. I am going to try this fix after I get the T5 screwdriver!
This repair worked great! Thank you for the helpful content.

The same did the trick for me as well, but please don't use steel tweezers to remove the battery connector! You can very well make a short circuit, possibly also fire. Use a plastic tool like he did in the video after first trying with the tweezers.
I have a peculiar problem. I changed my battery from the Leveno Yoga 920-13IKB to a similar model from aolstecell. But after that my laptop won't turn on when disconnected from A/C. It has a battery, both work perfectly, disconnected from the A/C and connected to the A/C. But after a few minutes off, it doesn't give any sign of life when I click the power button, it only turns on again if I turn on the A/C. I verified that the model does not have a CMOS battery. So I don't know what to do to solve my problem.
I’m having this exact same issue with my Yoga 920. Not sure what to do, I tried disconnecting the battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds before plugging it in, but still nothing. Basically, anytime the machine is fully shut down, it won’t turn back on unless I plug it into the power first even though the battery is charged. Once it’s on, it runs from the battery just fine. Soooo odd. I’m running Windows 11 in case it makes a difference.
Good lord, this freakin' worked. Cost me 2 trips to Microcenter to find the right screwdriver for $20 for those tiny screws which was the first hurdle!
Worked unplugging it, but whenever I plugged it back in it didn't start up again. Power light was blinking one fast, one slow orange, googled for it a little bit, but didn't find the answer, so I just left it unplugged and will have to use the PC plugged in from now on. But it sorta-kinda worked ! Thank you !
It works for my Yoga 900. But I have to apply this each month on average. I never let my battery to run out till 0% but I noticed my lenovo does not want to turn on when battery is 100% full. So odd. I think lenovo screwed up firmware or some hw.
Thanks a lot for the video. It didn't work for me but it was very nice to have access to the video to get the first few steps to try to fix the problem. For me the laptop wouldn't charge unless pressure was put on the charge pin to be at a certain angle. It then stopped charging. The charge port is fine and no charger works. Not sure what to try next as I can't afford a repair and there is no clear solution. I even have a new official charger. By the way neither the USB C or the normal charge port works and nor does the charge light ever go on. Ugh i can't afford a new laptop or a repair and all my files are there
Hey sorry its a bit late. But i have x1 gen5, laptop was working just fine and i leave it for few minutes and i know it went to sleep but when i turn it on to continue my work. nothing happen. So i hold the power button but nothing. Everytime i try to turn it on it just the keyboard lights and the screen splash a little like you turning on a tv.
Hi. thanks for this. I have the same fault on exactly the sme ;laptop, but this action (and the deep sleep action) has not fixed it. With or without the charger attached, the laptop starts and immediately powers off. This laptop had been left in sleep mode until the battery was completely flat. The battery has been replaced and fully charged. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!
Sadly it didn't work for me on a Lenovo Yoga 730 15. The power light comes on for a second and then goes off with zero in the display. I'm guessing the motherboard or BIOS are dead. From the forums it looks like a known fault with this model that was never addressed by Lenovo. What a surprise.
Great video, when mine is fully charged it wont turn on unless i hold the power button. Very strange. But if it is charged i open the lid it will automatically turn on.
I got to the bios on my Yoga 260 and disabled the battery, then it shut off as it was as it was designed to do. I then unplugged it, pressed the power button, even held it for 10 seconds or so per Lenovo's website to make sure the battery was disabled. Also used the pinhole to reset it. Plugged it back in and it started up with the loud beeping noise indicating the bios had been reset, but then shut down immediately. The power button remained on. Feel like kicking a kitten through a fan!
I'm a 77 year old non computer geek but your fix worked like a charm. Thanks
I followed all the steps described and it appears to have fixed the issue- Lenovo Yoga fails to boot, keyboard flashes. Thanks! I owe you a beer!

I don't usually leave comments/reviews, but this fix worked beautifully. Thank you!

Worked for me without even opening the laptop. Just after pressing and holding power button for about 15 seconds. Thank you, Sir!
Thank you. I did that with my Yoga first and it worked too!

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately mine still won't turn on. Charging and Power Led come on as before but no screen. Laptop is less than a year old
Ours too any luck? We changed the battery as well.
This is the same for me!
me too :(
Same for me - did you get it fixed?
Success! Mine did not turn back on when I plugged in the battery so I instead left it on at the initial turn on and then plugged in the battery while it was still on. Battery now charging and works unplugged!

That same thing happened to me, and it ended up being the motherboard.
Same PC and same problem here
same problem how much will cost me to replace the battery@@rachelroseg1775
Thank you so much for your video. It's helped me to fix my Lenovo and get it going again. My first ever tech fix! Thanks and God bless 🙏

Amazing!! Did this with my Lenovo Yoga 910 and it worked!! Thank you soooo much!!!
Where did you get that type of screw driver to even be able to open it?
Where did you get that type of screwdriver from?

Excellent video, followed to the letter, my Lenovo yoga 900s is now fully operational - Thanks 👍🏻

Now it's sorted.
Big big thanks mate 👍

Hi would this work if im facing a black screen issue?
I have a lenovo yoga 520 the charging port and cable works but the light show or turns on
Mine runs with the battery disconnected but won’t turn on again after I reconnect the battery
Your battery might be gone, or port might have an issue
What if it heats on one side? And also doesnt boot .....do I still go by this procedure?
Thanks a lot, this fixed my Lenovo C940-14IIL.

I've tried this on my Lenovo IdeaPad 3, but it doesn't seem to be working. Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you! Just FYI for everyone, it worked on a Yoga C940.
Tnx, i just fix my lenovo yoga, my question is does d battery broken?
