    After spending a frustrating couple days trying to get this figured out I’m gonna post what I did to get it to work without purchasing the wifi package or using a hotspot. I have Apple so I bought an hdmi adapter for my phone and then plugged that into the hdmi plug on the screen and I am able to play anything off my phone. And since I don’t have the headsets I bought the ‘JETech wireless FM transmitter Radio car kit’ to play the sound over the speakers. Lots of people said the Bluetooth lagged so I opted for this and it works!
    Just putting this out there in case anyone else is trying to figure this system out and doesn’t wanna pay for another subscription etc.
    I’m also planning to download things onto our iPads and play that when I don’t want my phone connected.

    Thank you for the review. I just bought a 2019 Navi and this may sound stupid but I couldn’t figure out how to place the batteries in the headphones 😅

    Did you do a video on how you downloaded content to the USB? I can get it to download from Amazon to my phone but don’t know how to transfer it from there to my usb. Everything I have is apple. And on my computer I couldn’t find the download option that is avail on my phone

    Hi Ash - Great videos. Have you discovered an easy way to select videos from the front is using a SD Card? Also, any issues with the wireless headphones? I am thinking of buying aftermarket IR headphones. The Lincoln Play app or remote to me seems a bit useless unless you are sitting in the back.

      No, you have to be looking at the screen to do that.

    Thanks for video. So if I want to play iTunes movies or mirror Netflix to rear screens, should I get chrome cast or roku?

  • @WisdomCalls
    @WisdomCalls 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you tried using the blue tooth to connect to other headphones or speakers? That might be a way I could work around the fact that it’s not surround sound coming out of the entertainment system. I think the speakers in the Lincoln are not the best anyway.

    Thank you for this video. I consider myself somewhat tech savy, but appreciate that others are experiencing the same frustration as I am with the system. A vehicle at this price point should be much more user friendly. I have connected a roku, but like you, I was using my home WIFI. I would like to use my phones data plan as a hot spot, but i have failed to figure out how to make that work. I subscribed to Direct TV now and it worked briefly. Now only audio will transmit - there is no picture with the connection. My home cable service it spectrum and there is an app for viewing channels. When I connect to the lincoln system, the app blocks the picture and states the mirroring is not allowed. This is a frustrating process. Please keep exploring and perfecting (if possible).

      Your phone has tethering/wifi Hotspot. It's basically the same thing that Lincoln offers but instead uses your phones 4G data. I would only recommend if you have an UNLIMITED 4G DATA PLAN and always keeping the phone charged when using the data in your vehicle. Depending on what phone you have(android/iOS) go to settings. I could help you furthermore, but need to know what phone you're using as different systems have different menus to get to "tethering/wifiHotpot".

I can’t plug in 2 Roku sticks any suggestions?

    a few clarifications for everyone, I have had our car for about a week and have tried just about every set up I can. Dealers now have a document / pdf that explains the system a lot better, intended use is for reviewing the system capability upon delivery of the car, please ask for it and review it carefully before ordering as it does list all the limitations. I wish this was available when I ordered. A few highlights: This system is more android friendly than Apple friendly, I am on Apple platform. Some limitations: The USB can not be used to connect your iPhone/ipad. USB as a storage drive only. For movies, Both the USB and the SD card only will play NON DRM (non copyright) digital videos. This means your m4v files WILL NOT PLAY via USB. So pretty limited in this day and age. Also, the Smartstream service included DOES NOT play DRM protected m4v either. This is why Ash's other video only shows a home movie, same as my phone that is the only non DRM content that the smartstream can access. For Apple users THE ONLY way to play m4v apple itune movies or stream content is via the single HDMI input. This means that if you are on Apple, the kids can not stream or play two different things at once unless you have an extensive pirated movie collection and put them on USB or SD card. For Android, I understand the Miracast can work much better, allowing wireless stream as well as the HDMI for two separate input capabilities. For Comcast users, the Comcast app would not play on the apple device and stream via the HDMI. I tested TH-cam TV and it worked like a charm so this appears to be a Comcast issue. As Ash lists in his other review, Roku, Apple TV, Firestick will all work with the available WIFI access from AT&T, but again for apple once that HDMI is being used, the other kid has no access to do something different except through NON DRM content on a USB. I have not tested streaming with the AT&T yet, but from the garage and our home Wifi streaming worked well and the resolution is very good. The screens controls themselves, my kids figured out usage really quick. They are not touchscreen, but the buttons on screen are easy to use, you do not need to use the remote if you do not want to, my kids have not touched the remotes, althought hey may be better for younger children under say 6 or 7 years old. One good thing, if you do have lots of DRM / copyright free content, then the USB can play two different things at once. That is the only thing that was a positive surprise, but I have hardly any DRM free material the kids are interested in. They want to watch movies. So its a pretty limited system overall unless you are willing to pirate movies. It is disappointing to see Lincoln have so many limitations to actually incent people to pirate content. Anyways, I would probably not purchase if given the opportunity again due to the Apple limitations. Android users may have a different opinion.

      Russ kimmitt amazing writeup. This should help a lot of people. You nailed it, my kids are 5-8 and they only use the remotes. Another cool thing is if the car is off you can turn on the accessory ignition and back off and the screens + front radio will work for 10min. This is helpful when you need to kill some time.

    • @MartyHendersonDVM
      @MartyHendersonDVM 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With NoteBurner M4V Converter (www.noteburner.com) you can strip the DRM from those movies. I buy them as digital downloads from iTunes (I believe the movies need to be in iTunes first) and then it can process the file so you can copy it to a USB and play it in the Navigator or on your phone, etc. I don't pirate movies - just explaining there's a way to take those legal iTunes purchases (which you should be able to play on anything you want!) and make those movies play wherever you want them to.

    • @WisdomCalls
      @WisdomCalls 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can’t believe you were able to get it to play through the car speakers. In the Lincoln nav I don’t think that’s an option, it’s headphones or connecting to an aftermarket external speaker either thru the port or Bluetooth.

      @@ashpatel_official So we tried a Roku stick, but it literary took forever for the Roku software to install "updates" and then the channels. Once I finally had a menu, I found that Netflix wouldn't work at all, Logo and introduction comes up on the screen. Is high speed wi-fi required like 5G? in order to get a solid connection?

      @@limodreams try to be in a wifi area or plug it into a tv in your home/office to install all of the updates. My kids use the wifi from my phone and are able to watch TH-cam or Netflix.

      @@limodreams We used an Amazon FireStick paired to the integrated AT&T Hotspot and an HDMI adapter into the left screen HDMI port. You still have to link the screen to the stereo via Bluetooth. It's a bit arduous to have to use the two remotes but once it's done, you can stream Amazon Prime and/or any streaming app from the FireStick through the monitor...and can scroll through the different streaming channels, etc. via the FireStick remote. Life would be a LOT easier IF the screens were touchscreens...but it is what it is. We have one customer that watches NHL religiously on his trips to his country house. Otherwise, the system doesn't get much use other than displaying our company logo on the screens via the SD card picture viewer. -Chesapeake Chauffeured Transportation

I’m thinking of either using the headphone jack to connect an external speaker (less than ideal because if I wanted to do everything after market I would have bought the cheaper car without the entertainment package) or see if I can use the Bluetooth option under audio to connect to a Bluetooth speaker.
