Here's the top 9 things I love about my VW ID4, including some features you won't find on any Tesla. This is a great electric SUV that, if you're shopping for a gas car in this price range, you should stop and test drive this electric vehicle instead.
From the buttery smooth acceleration, high quality ride and handling, and the fact it's one of the best looking EVs on the market, the ID4 has a lot to offer.
Some of my favorite Volkswagen ID4 features include:
- Blind spot monitoring system that is the same as ICE counterparts. Makes the car safer to drive.
- A very tight turning radius, allowing the ID 4 to fit into parking spaces, conducting U-turns, and much easier to drive.
- Ambient lighting that adds a premium feel to this electric car's cabin.
- The exterior design. The VW ID 4 looks much more like a normal car than other electric vehicles. There is some modern exterior design elements, yes, but those shopping for a Toyota RAV4 or another Volkswagen SUV will be happy with how the ID4 looks.
- On that same note, if you are coming from a gas vehicle like the RAV4 or Mazda CX-5, you're going to love the VW ID4's smooth electric vehicle acceleration. No more transmissions or revving of an engine!

Pre-ordered my ID.4 Pro S AWD with every option available. Can't wait! Also got my name on a list for my ultimate ride: The ID.BUZZ! (Provided they stay true to the retro concept and some nervous suit at VW doesn't turn it into a boring transport.)

My favorite things about my ID4 Pro S AWD: it’s properly quick. It’s not FAST, but it’s well quick enough. It’s SO SMOOTH. Driving it is a serene experience, unless I decide to open all the windows and/or mash the go pedal all the way to the floor. As a long time VW driver, it really fits in with my expectations for a I find the styling to be a bit understated, but quite handsome. Next steps for my car are: winter tires and wheels, and maybe a home L2 charger.

Thank you! This is my second EV. I owned a Model 3 before and sold it to get a Model S which has not yet been delivered. We are hoping to be EV only next year! I am a fan of the Model Y and may decide to go with the Texas-built Model Y if the Model S doesn't show up soon.
Really appreciate the insight. Been looking at a lot of videos and learned some things I didn’t know. We are considering pro S AWD and maybe base Audi q4 Etron awd. Both are close to same price point and is the same platform.

Bought one almost a year ago. Right before gas went up to $7 a gallon. (Saving 6k a year in gas & oil changes) I was gonna go with a Tesla M3 but the build wait was 6-7 months. The styling, design and cargo room along with 3 years of free E.A. supercharging sold me on VW. Turning radius is awesome! Love the comfortable seats, ride, massaging seats, cornering lights, mood lights, LED lit VW badge and light bar. Not fond of the lack of physical rear window controls, reverse camera quality, no glove box light, air vents are too low, lane keep is iffy at times, adaptive cruise is sluggish to return to regular speed.

@@evhelphub PRO S in blue w/grey interior. Love the panoramic roof and ability to close sunshade! This is critical in 111º heat. I found the purple mood lighting to be the most relaxing and elegant looking.

They've delivered a competitive EV to the market. Job #1 accomplished!
What I like best of the ID.4 has a more comfortable ride than my Model 3 LR which I do love owning. Charging was my #1 issue so, for me, I chose the right EV. I got a year of free charging but three is even better but I'll wager EA isn't a plug and forget type of charging network. I food shop during my charging, that's how handy Tesla supercharging is in my area.

@@evhelphub A very particular one, we have a very narrow driveway here in Vienna as it was originally designed for horse & carriage with high curbs to guide the carriage. Getting in without scratching the rims of any car is very difficult, but our ID4 has a 360 camera view with a side zoom function that allows you to see clearly all 4 wheels and precisely maneuver the car. I don’t know how many times I scratched my previous BMW without this feature. It also works really well in the dark. I don’t think they have this feature in the US, for it there are 4 cameras around the car - 2 under the side mirrors.

Do you have any tips for programming the passenger side mirror to tip down when the car is in reverse, so you can see the kerb?
Unfortunately, this isn't a feature offered in the ID4 as of yet.
I test drove one today, it drives very well and it's so quiet. I'm waiting to test drive the hyundai ioniq5 when it comes out and then I'll decide which one I want.
I'm waiting to test drive the Ioniq 5 as well. It's a cool looking car though!
Ioniq 5 drives worse in my opinon and is thursty...27kwh compared zoto 18.6 driving similar
The turning radius is Especially a horror compared to ID4

I'm so used to that feature now, I don't even think about it. But I agree. It just makes sense! Do you ever experience any phantom drain? We don't, another big plus.
Just ordered my new fully specced ID.4 on Thursday. Should get it around March/April. Can't wait.

@@evhelphub I'm in Europe, and I think we have different trims and color options, but I opted for the Costa Azul Blue with black roof and silver trim exterior pack. Absolutely stunning, imho.

Low profile 20" tires?
They are Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S tubeless tires. I'm not sure if they technically qualify as "low profile", though tirerack.com's marketing description mentions is combines the look of a low profile tire with the performance of all season traction.
I'd say they are pretty decent, but wear very fast because the car is so heavy. Very easy to spin the wheels coming out of corners now if you push the accelerator hard, though because of the center of gravity and weight, you don't really slide all that much.
I just bought a 2023 Pro. Love it! Why so many people are trash talking VW is beyond me. It’s like these insane car freaks that love complaining about everything.

They are decently high. Great visibility. Compares similarly to the Model Y for EVs, and about the same as a CR-V or Tiguan.
Height of the seat is also adjustable.
I put down the $100 deposit on an ID4 Pro a few weeks ago on VW's website. How long does it take before you get to make the second deposit?
Very difficult to say right now as VW had to halt production for a week of all of their EVs due to a chip shortage. Last I heard you'll be waiting for 3-4 months for it to arrive. The second stage of the process, placing your order/configuration usually comes 4-6 weeks after your $100 deposit. It takes about two months from there for the car to arrive and get to your dealership. If you live in the middle of the US, add about 1-2 weeks to the process.

I’m so happy with my iD.4! Your video is perfect in summarizing the reasons why. The instant torque makes me confident that I will be first off the line when the road will be merging from 2 lanes to 1 in 1000 feet. I think it is a great vehicle for a reasonable price!

The soft comfortable ride !! I own also a Model 3. I prefer the ride of the ID4 for roadtrips!!
Does it have one paddle stop?
Unfortunately, no. That's one of the largest drawbacks, imo.
I personally dislike single pedal operation. The brakes get really rusty and shakes the vehicle when you actually need to use it.
I will be a new I.D.4 owner when i ever get the car. So I am studying all aspects of the VW. Would be interessed in what a new owner need s to now.
I'd recommend watching all of the videos I have posted. Each one covers aspects that may be important to you, such as charging, tips, things like that.
I like more videos about how extreme cold weather affects battery range and charging
I'll try and do a cold weather test while running the HVAC. Unfortunately, where I live it is hot still so this won't be possibly until maybe end of January of February.
I learned that you can open and close the Sun roof by saying Hey ID, it’s too dark or Hey ID, it’s too bright

I'm also shopping for an EV but not sure about id4 especially in some other videos people complain about the software a lot. What is your first day impressions?
@@gunhann Iv already driven it 2k miles because of long work commute and I really like the car. I’m not much of a car guy but it’s been driving like a dream and super accurate battery millage. The software doesn’t lag as much if you remove the map from the Home Screen. I mainly use CarPlay and it’s pretty seamless once in awhile it won’t connect but that’s because I accidentally turn Bluetooth off and it gets confused. Overall awesome car just keep in mind any ev you will only get 60% of the actually battery for daily commute because you want to be within 20-80% for battery health
I do like the ID 4, too bad I cannot affird it.
Hopefully when the crazy market calms down they can bring more affordable EVs to the US!
I started out leasing, because the dealer instantly applies $9000 off the MSRP (State and Federal incentives, I live in CA) - I calculated I will save $21,000 over the first 3 years (at $5 a gallon, that is $14k in petrol and $7k in free electric from EA). I've done the lease buy out thru my Credit Union, and this car should pay for itself within 5 to 6 years.
Who will bring out a big ev camper?
I've got my money on Chrysler to do something like that. Currently, they do not have any EVs or any kind of differentiated product roadmap to let them carve out market share.
The ID.4 (and for the same reason, other cars as well), is definitively not an SUV! It´s neither a sporty car, nor is it a utility vehicle. It´s just a normal hatchback family car, which rides an inch or so higher. The label SUV is not at all justifyable.
