    another big one is getting a dummy seat belt clip...while in neutral you clip that sucker in and then place the vehicle in park the keep the vehicle fully turned ON with all climate running etc. 👍🏻

    Just ordered mine so I've started the 6 to 9 month process of watching every TH-cam video I can find about the car. Lots of great tips, haven't seen any other regular car review channels mention the all windows down function or the seat heater shortcut. And being able to schedule climate based on departure time will come in handy when I'm leaving work in the winter. Appreciate all the great info, thanks for sharing.

      I ordered one today as well. Guessing we would get the 23 model? I have heard you can not permanently turn off the lane keeping and that is a big complaint. Also bet we get latest s/w. Sort of lame they dropped free charging to 30 min

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tommytfaa yea, probably 2023 model. Yes you get the new software and all the sensors so you get a butt load of stuff mine won't have.(I have a video on 3.0 software) Lane keep assist is automatically on, you can turn it off in the menu, but comes back on next time you turn on the car. Also, if you turn on lane centering and want to shut it off, the off button shuts off the Adaptive cruise also so you have to turn that back on...kind of annoying

    Question for you my friends wife ID4 had what they thought was a stain and used nail polish remover on the actually grey or chrome part were it says ID4 Pro-s on the emblem fender on the driver side and now there is like a tiny cloudy spot on the grey plastic part. Is there touch up paint or anything i can do to fix it?

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nail polish remover is Acetone. What they did was remove the protective clear coat. They can tape off around the emblem, use 2000 grit sandpaper to sand the emblem, then spray with an Automotive clear coat, 2 or 3 light coats should do it.

    Hi thanks for all the info you gave us.
    Please I have an ID 4 pro and I don't want my Son to drive it . How can I lock the door not to for any one because it does open in the garage because the key is in the house.
    And he takes it anyway without my promotion.
    Thanks

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the car is locked, the key has to be within proximity of the car (3ft) before the car will unlock. The car also won't start without the key in the car. Lock it and don't leave the keys where he can get them. That is the best advise I can give you.

    Thanks for all the useful tips! I'm having a small issue that I'm hoping maybe you know of a solution for: Before I get out of the car, I press the power button at the lower left of the infotainment screen to turn off radio / sirius / spotify. But when I get back in it starts playing again. Is there any way to stop that from happening? Thanks!

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It automatically shuts off when getting out of the car. You don't have to push the button, it will shut everything off when you get up out of the seat. As for it not coming on when you get in and sit down, you would have to shut the radio off before getting out, or just swipe the volume all the way down.

    • @dangralick209
      @dangralick209 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@offtheshelfrides thanks for the reply. as i said, shutting the radio off before exiting does not stop it from coming back on when i re-enter. but again, i appreciate your taking the time to reply.

      @@dangralick209 yes. The only other thing I can think of is I believe there is a volume control in the setting for when parked....not positive on that tho. If so, you could set it as low as it goes then it wouldn't be loud...sorry. Best I can think of...

    The complex user interface seems to detract from the driver experience of an otherwise nice car. This is not unique to VW, but seems a mark of the latest tech vehicles.
    Too much brainpower is required. Brain power that is not available when stressed or tired. Brainpower not available to occasional drivers or drivers using many different vehicles. Brain power needed to navigate. Brainpower needed for driving complex cars on busy roads in unfamiliar areas a night.
    Jobs had it right. Figure out what you really need and only keep that. A useful design is not a engineer's demonstration of creativity.
    Not sure modern complex auto designers drive. I think they take public transit.

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the infotainment system is not the best, Noone is anywhere near Tesla, but they can/will make it better with updates. Hopefully. The car build quality is a step above Tesla though. Even Tesla owners have said the newer EV's and built better, but software is too far behind for Tesla owners to switch. But for a lot of 1st time Ev owners, coming from ICE cars, it is perfect. An electric car that drives, rides, and feels like an ICE car but better.

      I recently drove a RAV4 hybrid and thought it was a very good car.
      But as an old timer, was put off by the price. Seems at least $10k more than it is worth. I guess that's true of all cars, except perhaps Mavericks, which seem like steals.
