The AirPods new gestures to answer or decline phone calls remind me of funny story from 20 years or more ago. Back then when the bluetooth headset started to become a thing, my dad was properly one the first people to daily drive those things. One time he was trying to call a taxi on the street but didn't know exactly where we were, so he looked to the store's front on the other side of the street to check the address. In front of the store there was a lady, who thought that my dad was trying to talk to her so she kept saying "Pardon?" "Sorry?" "What's that?". But my dad didn't notice her. He kept talking to the other person on his bluetooth headset while looking at the lady's direction, but obviously didn't see her. I remember that went on for a good minute, then the other lady just gave up. She probably thought that my dad was crazy or something.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing almost NOTHING Apple added in this keynote was actually new or impressive. People are way to easily satisfied these days.
"Apple catches up to Android... again"
Jokes aside, this is pretty cool :)
I was just going to say the same thing 😂
My Samsung cant even do half these things other than customization unless im doing it wrong lmao
@@iLeetProductions you can do pretty much all of this on android, but you're either gonna have to install sketchy apps, have to set it up manually yourself with something like Tasker, or you're going to have to root your phone.
To be fair to Apple, you could also do a lot of this stuff on a jailbroken iPhone, including the color tones of all the app icons 😂
@@snowe.. Actually recently Samsung partied up with Google again and added a bunch of AI features to the galaxy, fold and flip series. However... they kinda busted OneUI and my phone has been kinda funky recently. And I don't know if it goes quite as far as Apple does but thats something Apple has always done better~ when they hone in on a system/functionality, they usually perform it better and more thoroughly than android does.
@@AstralDragn I meant as a whole. I know that individual features might exist on individual phones, but not all the features exist on every phone, so you’re gonna have to do something.
And yeah that’s really how it goes with apple and android. Android is always first but Apple _usually_ does it best. When they finally decide to actually implement it at least…
Honestly, love that tint feature. makes me want to find an equivalent for my android that works as universally.
Android (at least on stock and Pixels) has had Material You since Android 12 and that can also apply to icons if you enable it. It comes down to the app developer making an icon that supports it though, most do, but older apps or some that seem to just refuse to for whatever reason (like Netflix).

0:49 the list is “siriously”
everytime Linus say "serious" in this video my brain autocorrected it to siri LMFAO
12:50 this is similar to Prime Video's app, but it appears to be across all services? thats dope as hell

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE SIRI ICON 😭😭😭
They made it the old notification for the galaxy edge 😂
Not gonna lie, I’m gonna kinda miss it
Where? Whats the timestamp?
> You don't get to suddenly not care about it when Apple has a cool idea
Apple's icon tinting idea is basically Android's 3-color customized theme feature I've been using for 3+ years. I dig that Apple's finally doing it, but I'm not sure implementing an existing idea makes it a "cool idea."
The control center personalizations are pretty cool though. Not groundbreaking, but it looks smooth af.
What if siri leaks linus walking around in his birthday suit?! (For research ofc)

As an apple "hater" for the last decade or so, what apple is currently doing with "AI" and their products excites me more than the crap microsoft has being putting out with windows 11
Text to talk with Siri has been a thing since iOS 6, but was limited to either an accessibility feature, or only accessible after talking to them.
3 sponsors in just 1 video, amazing
This actually reminds me of the format war between beta and VHS. Basically, sony would add a feature to try and distract customers from the fact that beta had shit recording time. And then vhs machines would have that feature in the new models.
Same here, Everytime one company adds a new feature, immediately gets copied by the other.
I like it
9:50, IIRC Microsoft had a patent on this that only expired as of last year, so they couldn't officially add it till now.
t9 dialing is basically how you used to have to text back in the pre-smart phone/phone with a keyboard days and you still have to dial phone numbers this way outside of a basic search for the phone number for a business or using you contact list.
14:20 It is technically not a ad blocker, because it takes everything necessarily out from the site A ad blocker still is on the side of block the stuff. That’s why it is not add blocker
Insight is a feature similar to what Amazon prime has been doing for years now....I guess its only revolutionary when Apple does it
T9 dialing has been a feature that was part of why I sold my iPhone X a few years ago, I use it way too much to compromise
Was thinking this too. It's just Prime video's X-ray!
@BenLinford30 atheist it seems less laggy then primes lol
Well the Amazon prime one works only 50% of the time, is slow, sluggish and pauses the content. When apple does sometimes it just works. And adding music directly to your library? Way easier.
@@Broodjemetbeleg Didn't pause my movie last time I used it.
@@Broodjemetbeleg to be fair, Apple do have a tendency of taking features that have been around for years in a "guess that's good enough" state and making them a lot better. The companies that decided they were "good enough" then spend loads of time trying to catch up.
The only part that bugs me about that is Apple's tendency to market said features as new, never seen before technologies, which people just assume Apple invented.
Siri is siriously BAD! Today I said “Siri call mom”.. She responded “what would you like to do with mom”, I responded “Call her”. “Siri say okay, calling [insert random name here]”. She started calling contact in my phone! Like what?!
I didn't even realize how many basic windows and Android functions are missing for Apple users.. So sad!

@@xgui4-studios
- t9-dialing: true
- icons: irrelevant because there is no inherent value to be considered a "feature"
- AI: you got this the other way round. Apple is the first to integrate it in a scope that wide.
- calculator: iPad has had calculators in the App store since forever.
- screen mirror: there is no equivalent solution for android phones
- hide apps: android hiding feature is not as complete as Apple's implementation
- emojis: Emoji kitchen is on iOS as well and last time I checked Android had no iMessage support anyway, so why compare with a iMessage feature?
- window manager: you could install a variety of window managers on MacOS since forever. From simple ones like Magnet to full blown Tiling managers.
- Games support is not a Mac (or Linux issue). The developer chooses to target a certain platform, not the other way round.
- Copilot is a privacy nightmare, not a feature 😂

They each have features well before the other. It was years before Windows had Mission Control like features for example.

finally adding features we want
As an Android guy, this is a massive W for Apple!
Finally getting more options that let people express how they like their devices to be is awesome! The amount of customisation, while limited, is atleast implemented pretty nicely and that's very good. I personally find the way Google does icons better but this is good too.
I hope they keep adding more things that help make iPhone a better option for the users. It's not a competition, there's no winning for a company in my eyes, it's a win for the users who deserve a good device for their money.
I'm still Android since iPhones don't really fit my use case well but great to see the improvements
the grindr like omg 😭😭
There is one quality of life thing that I dont understand why apple doesn't implement; The ability to skip songs with the volume buttons. I have the sound assistant app on my s23, and back when I had a OnePlus it was an on by default. It is such a game changer when you are just walking with your phone in your hand and dont want to lift your hand to the earphones, or turn on the screen. It is so seamless and apple-ish thing that I would've expect to see a long time ago
T9 dialling, material you lite, icon's everywhere, customisable control center with app integrations. Half of it is Android, which is like a cliche joke but today more true than ever. Which I don't mind and applaud even

Oh yeah scoped contacts
Oh yeah catagories in mail
Oh yeah sort by date in Photo's, more advanced search

They added math support, AI and aesthetic improvements - iPad OS is still useless for non-artist-related professional computing.
Unless you are an artist
@@Table_knife you're right, I forgot that caveat. Useless for Non-Artist Professionals*, or 98% of iPad owners. Saying that assuming that artists make up like 2% of people who can fully utilize the iPad as productivity tool. I mean other professionals CAN use it for like 80-90% of most daily tasks, but I've found that even the most basic tasks require 2 to 3 times more gestures/clicks/taps or workarounds than just using a conventional Mac and that last 10% actually becomes the most important part because even IF an App 'equivalent' MacOS program exists, it nearly always a curtailed experience where I just have to pick up my MacBook anyways to finish whatever I'm doing. My 2017 MacBook Pro, being like 3x slower than my M2 iPad has proven infinitely more capable in day-to-day tasks.
