The World's GREATEST Orchestra playing the world's greatest film music and it is AWESOME!!!!
I really appreciate that they treat it as serious as a Mahler symphony...that's a 1st class act 👍

It would be great if RCO can make recordings and sell this music like VPO or BPO, that way we also support you!

No pun intended, but this orchestra has a sound that's out of this world. Jaw dropping.

WOW! I have listened to many, many recordings of this iconic film score. I have yet to hear even one that exceeds (or proably equals) this one. And a live performance at that! This suite from the Williams score is a perfect vehicle for this amazing Orchestra. All the sections have plenty of time to be featured: brass (and those horns!!!), wave after wave of sweeping strings, percussion. Even the harps have their moment in the sun. And the woodwinds are just beyond description, especially my all-time favorite woodwind player in the world, the beautiful Ms. Emily Beynon. I was so happy to see her wonderful playing featured. (And heck, I am a trombonist!) But the thing tht really does it for me with all RCO recordings and live performances is the balance between the sections. Even during the final Imperial March movement where the brass is so important, those great musicians strike the correct balance to be "up front" as they should, but never to the expense of the other sections around them that make what they do work. And so it is with all the sections of the RCO. Before I shuffle off this mortal coil, I hope to visit Amsterdam. If I do, I will make sure it is when the RCO is in concert at their incredible venue. I will be there to hear whatever they are playing. And remember it for the rest of my days. Thank you, RCO!!!

I love how the 2nd flute smirks at the virtuosity of the principal from 02:30 to 02:40!

Het was net na corona. Ik kon met mijn zoon last minute heel goedkope kaartjes krijgen. We zaten bijna vooraan en daardoor ook herkenbaar in beeld. Het voelde als een privilege.

Strange phenomenon: whenever I listen to the Concertgebouw while present in the hall....it sound great, yes....but a bit fuzzy...but the same orchestra on recording, or on youtube....sounds absolutely amazing, crystal clear and 1000X more fantastic... very strange

The sound at RCO LIVE Label is also fuzzy and the balance is terrible, however decades ago RCO's recordings at Philips were so good. Same concert hall, more advanced technology, very strange thing indeed.

Think the fuzziness is part of the "musical" style of the Orchestra-and-Hall. My take has always been that this Orchestra's seeking for the edge is - though valliant and therefore prone to mistakes - exactly what creates the unexpected sound-surprise from time to time.
Them playing "clean" would make it dull quite often imho. Always love the errors: they dare to make them at that level.

It's all in the mic placement and the sound mixing. Hats off to the audio techs. Great camerawork also influences what we notice in the sound.

BRAVOOO😃👍!!! 🤩🤩😍😍

@@adrians.444 Don't take me wrong, Omar is on my current top 4 orchestral trumpets (no order) alongside Chris Martin, Phil Cobb, Alexandre Baty and Hannes Laubin, but, in Star Wars, Maurice Murphy is the one (always in Bb).
