John Williams, Star Wars Suite, Teatro Massimo Orchestra - S. Di Vittorio, conductor

This is a performance by the Teatro Massimo Opera Orchestra at the Teatro Massimo opera house under the direction of Salvatore Di Vittorio on January 5, 2023. This was the first performance of John Williams' Star Wars Suite in Palermo, Italy.

Neat to see an orchestra playing John Williams seated in a historical fashion. Particularly an Austro-German one that would be used when playing music by composers such as Wagner or Mahler who would have done that exact thing. Celli and Basso on rear left, Violins on opposite sides, Trumpet/trombone/tuba in the center, and horns off to the side. It’s very neat to hear music from after 1950 interpreted with romantic era seating.

Branodi Williams che non conoscevo e che mi è piaciuto. Brava l'orchestra e bravo il Maestro Di Vittorio che riesce a far ben comprendere anche il senso dei "momenti" musicali.
