@Montanahellcat - I repaired mine 1 -1/2 years ago. It's been through two winter freeze and thaw cycles and it still looks as good as it did the day I made the repair. Best $12 I've spent on a chip repair!

Boy was a wrong this is an excellent video one of the best I have seen on TH-cam nice job on this my concerns on if I could do this repair are gone. Also I almost rushed and did repair in the sun. You saved me a half job repair and hours.
There's a trick. I saw a windshield repair guy use a match on the inside of the window after the equipment with the glue is already in place. You hold a match 1 inch away on the inside directly on the crack for 3 seconds, then pull it away for a second then three on then one off then three seconds a final time. What that does is heat up and expand the glass and as the glass cools off it yanks the glue deep into the cracks and hardens quickly. I've done this for lots of people, know you know the trick.
Just wanted to thank you for your demonstration of using this product, I got peppered by a darn tracker trailer hauling gravel, apparently he was out revenge or something as several of my coworkers all got the same treatment within a week! Ok anyway, I watched your video, and then ordered this product, I had 3 lovely little chips that had not spread, after using this product,, I cannot even see where the chips where! 😊 I live in Montana, where we are very prone to rocks finding there way to our windshields,,,it’s kinda a joke when you have cracks and chips in your windshield that it’s a typical MT windshield. I am also a lady, so anyone remotely handy should be able to do this. Thanks again.
Thank you for an honest video. So many people pretend these glass repair kits remove the cracks completely instead of explaining that its purpose is to prevent the crack from growing. Thank you for a great how to video!
Thank you very much. I’m bought this kit from Amazon in the UK and it only came with instructions on six other European languages which I couldn’t follow well enough. I followed your video and got a very acceptable result on my chip and crack. Thanks again.
I just did this outside on a windy day. 😅 I had a thin beach umbrella to sheild from the neverending Texas sun, over the area for shade, which kept blowing inside out. All my clear films blew away. So put your kit inside your car. 😅. So far: Success. It is outside curing as we speak. Night and day difference. I did end up dripping the liquid over the area and have the plastic film that I hunted for and finally found. 😅
Brought one of these kits here in the UK from my local Halfords car parts shop as I'd got a good size chip in my windscreen , followed the instructions and it worked brilliantly ... Canon even see where the chip was even under cols examination . Have brought some more bottles of glass resin and a UV light ( as the chip had been cured in good sunlight but this cannot be guaranteed so got the light ) so any future chips or other people's can be fixed .
I used this kit to fill in a rock chip my truck had for years and idk why I ever waited. It practically filled everything in to the point I could not even tell it was there anymore. I had resin leftover and filled in 3 cracks on a work vehicle window and it worked great! I would highly recommend this kit for a cheap and easy fix. Im super OCD so anything in my field of vision bugs the heck out of me.
These kits are affordable and they work. Those two things are hard to find these days. My fix is still looking like it did the day I repaired it. Thanks for your input!
Rain-X worked great. The chip was invisible except for a white-ish ring between the layers of glass/plastic where the chip was. It still looks 95% better than it did and is protected from spreading. Thanks.
I liked the angles you showed. I'm disappointed that I probably need a new windshield, but I'm going to try this first to put off the big job for a little bit. I imagine you can still see the chips in sunlight glare?
Yes you can still see where the chips are but this prevents them from spreading and getting worse. I'm still using the same windshield in that vehicle and being able to see a small chip does not bother me. I wish you the best.
I just got a brand new car..barely made one payment and a darn rock made it its way to my windshield 😭 I also just want to stop it from spreading until I can afford replacement 🤞
Thanks for the video! I guess it does the job in filling the crack to keep it from spreading, but aesthetically (at the 9:10 mark), the crack is still very noticeable, though better than it looked at the 1:45 mark.
Good vid, and good timing, I picked up a pea sized dhip from a car last week, on a year old windshield. Hate when that happens but Im trying this product for sure.
I mostly use the permatex one.And I like that they completely seal around the chip area, apply a vacuum to withdraw air, and then the syringe applys force. I'm not sure if this reynex won does any of that quite as good. Does it seal around the chip and apply a vacuum at all?
I just found out that my insurance covers these 100%. I have one little pock that could easily spread. 152 euro but insurance works directly with the glass place. Appointment this Saturday. They put a bandaid on it today. Finally, something that just goes right. This is already my third windshield. Its Saturday. Work is finished. It almost invisible and a pair of Bosch wipers for free. Insurance did it all. The repairman also took the time to show me how to remove the wiper arms to repaint them properly.
Thankfully you must have a zero deductible? Usually you have to pay the deductible. But maybe, if the insurance company is trying to avoid replacing a windshield, they will gladly fix the chips for free?
Good one. Though one can see that you pulled up wipers, I would point out that taping the blades isn’t a bad idea, if you have to drive a bit(from alley garage to street)for the sun curing.

I honestly don't remember but I think just a drop of resin and a curing strip on the little chips. If you can see an actual crack, then the plunger will help push the resin into the crack to fill the void and seal it from moisture. Hope this helps.
I've fixed a bad chip before and it held for years but that kit was nothing compared to this one. You can barely see where it was. I went ahead and filled in a bunch of really minor chips too. I cut the uv strips into 2' and 4 pieces . Circled all the chips and put a drop on each. This will work better with 2 people. A helper will make it go easy. The one problem I had was that the suction cups came rotate backwards and the thing wouldnt screw in. then I realized i just had to flip it over. the plunger seated and no sealant came out. filled the hole instantly, My kit was not rainx, it was just like it on amazon.
l just did it on some small round chips ,it didn't do much ,I can't see that it made it dissappear but maybe it got some stuff down in the crack.lts good to clean that chip out real good with something that remove any rain x or wax that's gotten down in the hole before you do this.lts curing now...yours looks better than mine ,it doesn't look like it did anything.
If you decide to attempt this again, consider using rubbing / isopropyl alcohol on the crack/chip to try and weaken any oils or waxes that are inside that will prevent resin flow!
Yes it still looks like it did the day I did the repair. It's been through two winters and hot summers. This is my go to fix for a chipped windshield and I highly recommend it to all.
Good for chips, but for cracks of any length...just replace the windshield. Not a knock against the product, but crsck that runs across the windshield is, as I found out, apparently notvwhat it was designed to repair. It did stop it from getting worse though...
Hi, did you repeat the entire procedure with the connecting device for those few little cracks? Or did you just pour a few drops of liquid and cover it with foil?
I really don't know the answer to your question. I think if you fix it with this kit you shouldn't need to worry about taking it to a shop. The window I fixed in this video has lasted through two winters and it still looks like it did the day I did the repairs. A shop will do the same process but charges you a lot more for it IMO.
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 asking because I followed the same process but still the cracks are visible and it was a lot smaller than yours, should I be able to redo it?
I tried this kit on another car and it gave average results and made the crack spread. This latest crack I used the Visbella kit and it runs rings around the rainx kit and gets the resin in deeper for a stronger bond. Rainx is good. Visbella is better.
Nice video didn’t know if I was going to try this but you definitely had great info about it and make it look pretty easy so I’m gonna try it out thanks a bunch!👍
I had a spider web type crack(can only feel it form outside) and it’s about 3-4 inches at longest crack. Would this work and be good for my car’s lifetime?
Someone else said you had to drill a little on either side of the rack to truly keep it from spreading. He made another video on here about this. Did your spread by now even after u did this?
I've had no long term issues. I sold that particular vehicle this year and it looked like it did the day I did the windshield fix. I have a chip on my newer vehicle windshield and I'm about to do the process again with the same Rain-X kit. I am very happy with the product and the results. I wish you the best!
It's been a year since you posted this video. is there any changes in this crack? How it handles the cold weather and the differences in the temperature? Ty.
The cracks all look the same as they did the day I repaired them. This vehicle has been through one winter and a Hot summer. I couldn't be more pleased with the results I have had with this product.
That I don't know. As I understand it, it's the sun's UV rays that activate the repair solution. You may be able to check the product instructions prior to purchasing and see if you can find a temperature restriction. I'll leave a link to the product I used for your convenience if you'd like to check. amzn.to/3GQ8OBo
Here is a copy of the instructions I found on the Amazon link. m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91hZHbtFzsL.pdf I will ad this link to the description of this video for others as well.
I used it on a 15" long crack along the bottom of a windshield and it has sealed it well. Not sure if that's the same as a temperature crack or not. It didn't make it disappear but it is less visible than before. Also it did seal it from moisture and stopped it from getting worse.
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 how did this glue reach the crack when temperature cracks are from the inside in between the glass? Did you remove the windshield and do it??
Apparently mine wasn't a "temperature crack". You'll need to apply the solution to what ever side the crack is open to for it to work. It has to be able to wick into the crack. If the crack does not go to the surface of the glass it won't work. I think if there is a crack its probably open to either the inside or outside surface of the windshield. I've personally never had one that doesn't go to one surface or another but maybe they do exist.
I don't know I've never tried it without the curing strip. I would try it anyhow but it might be hard to keep the solution over the chip. I might even cutting a piece of a ziplock bag to lay over it until it cures then you can scrape it off with the solution. Just a thought but I've never tried it. I wish you the best. PS: my kit came with about 10 or 15 curing strips.
On the outside looks great bu I have a vehicle that had the rear view mirror ripped off on the inside. Gravity is against using the this method. Any ideas how I can fix the hole and put in a new mirror?
I've never had to deal with that problem myself. Maybe the item below will work for your situation. Permatex 81840 Extreme Rearview Mirror Profressional Strength Adhesive Kit , White - amzn.to/3KZxo6t I wish you the best with your project.

amzn.to/3DNAtCn
what if you feel the crack on the inside, would the same procedure work from the inside as well?
I would think it would work the same.
What if you can't put it in the shade to do it
I don't think it will be a problem.

how's the long term effect of this?
I've had no long term issues. I sold that particular vehicle this year and it looked like it did the day I did the windshield fix. I have a chip on my newer vehicle windshield and I'm about to do the process again with the same Rain-X kit. I am very happy with the product and the results. I wish you the best!
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Thanks mate. More comfortable to do it with your tutorial.
Excellent video. Very helpful.Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Do you have an update on your glass did it stay good or it goes cracked again?
It’s been a couple years now and it looks like it did the day I repaired it. 👍🏻
100👍 ..very very good explanation thank you!! Friend
Thanks for visiting
What if will apply that during winter season?
Use a hair dryer to warm the surface
Dear sir, Can it last long?
Mine has been through two winters and coming up on two years now. It still looks good!
Did the product held the cracks after all these time
Yes, the windshield still looks like it did the day I repaired the windshield. Definitely worth the price of the product!
Will this stuff work on my progressive eyeglass lens? I got a huge chip in the left lens while mowing a yard and a small rock hit my eyeglasses.
I've never tried that so I don't know if it will work or not. One way to find out though. I wish you the best.
THANK YOU!!!
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
Great job 👏
Thank you! 😃
Thanks for the video. Any min temperature required for this product?
That I don't know. As I understand it, it's the sun's UV rays that activate the repair solution. You may be able to check the product instructions prior to purchasing and see if you can find a temperature restriction. I'll leave a link to the product I used for your convenience if you'd like to check. amzn.to/3GQ8OBo
Here is a copy of the instructions I found on the Amazon link. m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91hZHbtFzsL.pdf
I will ad this link to the description of this video for others as well.
Does work on temprstut crack?
Thanks so much! Really helped!
You're welcome, thanks for stopping by!
Will this work on tempurature cracks
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 thanks!

I don’t have sun should I still do it.
I lost my curing strip. Do I have to use one?
I don't know I've never tried it without the curing strip. I would try it anyhow but it might be hard to keep the solution over the chip. I might even cutting a piece of a ziplock bag to lay over it until it cures then you can scrape it off with the solution. Just a thought but I've never tried it. I wish you the best.
PS: my kit came with about 10 or 15 curing strips.
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 ok thanks for the reply
I wonder if that will work on cracked cell phone screens?
Good question, let me know if you try it. 👍
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I shall!
Yes. you would have to buy a shrinking machine and shrink the kit 100 times smaller and use a microscope when you do this.
On the outside looks great bu I have a vehicle that had the rear view mirror ripped off on the inside. Gravity is against using the this method. Any ideas how I can fix the hole and put in a new mirror?
I've never had to deal with that problem myself. Maybe the item below will work for your situation.
Permatex 81840 Extreme Rearview Mirror Profressional Strength Adhesive Kit , White - amzn.to/3KZxo6t
I wish you the best with your project.
