    Props to Moto on this Ready For experience. It's really well polished and super fast/easy to use. I've been using it on my Moto G100 for a few weeks and I'm really impressed. It really is a viable replacement for a desktop computer or Chromebook for someone who doesn't need specific Windows or Mac only software, or the need for dual external and/or 4k monitors. It's amazing how fast, silent and slick everything runs. Really nailed the plug and play too - no glitchiness or jank. My only complaint is that I wish Moto made it easy to tile/arrange windows side by side as it's a painfully manual process rather than the slick keyboard shortcut or one-click on a menu-bar process that it is on Mac, Windows, or Chrome OS. I thought one day we'd get to the point where a phone could legitimately serve as your desktop/docked PC as well (and your camera/videocamera too) and that day is here. I haven't used Dex from Samsung to compare but I think it would be hard to top what Moto has accomplished with Ready For.

    I had a choice of phones when I was recently shopping. I decided on Samsung because of Dex. That was because I wasn't even aware Ready For existed, for some reason. I cancelled the Samsung, and I'm now waiting for my Motorola to arrive. Kudos to Motorola for creating a great phone, with great specs, a clean Android experience - and proper wired Ready For, which seems like the best desktop/external full screen experience option for Android out there right now. Keep this up, Motorola, and you'll keep having me as a customer.

      None. Motorola only has support for native video out from it's top phones. Edge+ G100/Edge-S and likely Razr (but not supported for Ready For.). And ONLY their phones using Snapdragon 800chipsets as they have mentioned their targeting for.
      So none of their standard phones will ever get Ready For desktop mode.

    • @KillerRaptorr
      @KillerRaptorr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PSYCHOV3N0M You could. But the native android 10 is a Experimental system. It is not intended to be used as a daily driver for standard desktop systems, It's more if you're a dev from a company IE using it as a platform to use the coding and improve it to make your own as LG did.
      I'm not 100% sure on the razr 5g supporting native video out. But if you can get screensharing (screen mirroring) to work via wired to a HDTV or USB C port TV. Then the experimental desktop mode could be switched on. But again it's nothing compared to the basic of LG's android 10/11 which is little more usable. Dex and Ready for are the only two systems that seem compatible for daily use. LG's still little sluggish and some problems with it, Which may improve on 12 but who knows.
      But once the G100/Edge-S get more wide spread. You can easily snag one of those. Their listing price is only 600$ US (can go convert different places for the price.). For a SD 870 and some high end features at a super low price as LG's own Velvet 5g. That's a pretty great steal.

    Got the new Motorola Edge 2022 (with Mediatek processor) and trying to find out what are the requirements for it to work in Webcam mode? I tried your website FAQs and support, I tried your online chat and then I called your 800 number. None of them could tell me how to activate Webcam.
    The only thing I have not tried yet is USB C to HDMI. As of now, I have the Ready For application installed on my PC and whether I connect wirelessly or wired, the Webcam option does not highlight(and while we are at it, neither does the App Streaming or Files options). Desktop mode works just fine so I know it is not a connection issue. When tethered with USB, I did find out there is a Ready For option for the USB mode. That did not make a difference.
    Instead of just showing it working and how awesome it is, where are the tutorials showing how to set it up and more importantly, letting us know what will NOT work.
    Other than that, Desktop mode on PC is just meh. I can't even drag files in Desktop mode to my PC. The app Your Phone(previously Link to Windows) is more useful when connecting to a PC and then I can at least copy/paste photos.
    Edit: huh, just noticed that despite plugging phone into PC via USB then setting the USB mode to Ready For, it still connects via Wi-Fi. Don't expect to stream anything on PC in this mode. Yeah, why use the phone anyways when you are already using a full PC but then that begs the question why create the Ready For application for Windows in the first place. Why have a Ready For USB mode then if it defaults to Wi-Fi regardless?
    Edit2: Wireless connection to my Roku Streambar worked once and never again. It will try to setup the connection(first try and each after I chose Always Allow) and you can see it trying on the TV but it always times out and goes back to the Roku home screen. I've tried on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands but never connected again.
    It is looking like this is meant to be used with a USB C to HDMI connection...period. That will be my next test. Fingers crossed.

I was going to tell friends about how nice Motorola Ready for was. Then after a few updates, it no longer supports my monitor native resoltuion. Now it only supports 1080p. And now I'm no sure anymore. I don't know if it's a mistake by Motorola, or Motorola intentionally limit Ready For to support only 1080p. If they want people like me to promote their product, they need to bring native resolution back. A bonus is that it recognize my Bose Companion 50 speakers which is connected via USB to the hub connected to the phone, to the monitor, to the keyboard and mouse. Also, wireless 4K streaming to TV is not possible unlike 4K@60Hz ith USB-C to HDMI adapter also because wireless will never be as fast as wired. Sorry it took some time to get back. With your Moto Edge 20, you can easily mirror your screen to the TV, but switching quickly between an incoming video call and the TV mirror may not be as smooth as you'd like. Generally, you'll have to start the mirroring process manually after the call comes in.
      As for the "Ready For" feature, it allows your phone to function as a webcam, but it doesn't support connecting an extra USB camera to the TV for a dual-camera setup. A practical approach would be to connect your phone to the TV first, initiate the call, and then toggle the mirroring on and off as necessary.
      For a more seamless experience, you might want to keep the mirroring active during the call if that's an option.

      You connect the wired keyboard directly to the TV. Only if you want to use a wireless Bluetooth keyboard that you connect it to the phone.

    @harrycherns1037 ปีที่แล้ว

    Theres really a lack of info on Motorolas side on what of their phones are actually supporting that as well as presenting this feature on a top shelf on its own. Sort of same as Samsung, but at least they say what phones do support DeX or come without it. Pitty really. To make a product and then just waste on opportunity to inform a potential customer about it.

    Edge + does and Edge doesn't, really?

    • @KillerRaptorr
      @KillerRaptorr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Edge+ is Snapdragon 865. Edge is Snapdragon 765. They mentioned their targeting the 800series Snapdragon chips to support their Ready For desktop mode, And Edge+ is their only phone that has USB 3.1 C to HDMI support. Edge is only USB 2.0 which has no HDMI support. So it won't work even if they did put it on.

    • @DroidTSK
