      @@GHSTSTRSCRM Except this looks far better executed than either. DeX has been the standard, but there are silly limitations that are purely Samsung being Samsung, such as limiting output resolution (DeX can't do 4K out under any circumstances because Samsung restricted it - it can be done if you are rooted). Huawei's desktop mode is pretty sub par.

      Moto skined Android Desktop mode. Its buried in developer options and Google (being Google) hasnt made it widely known or as useful as Moto has.

    • @nickthaskater
      @nickthaskater 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@charlescdt6509 The developer options desktop mode is not intended to be a standalone desktop mode (that's why it's buried). It's a framework for third parties to build on, exactly as Motorla has done here. Some individual developers have also attempted to make desktop launchers based on the framework, although I don't believe any actually made it to something resembling a final product given the work involved.

      @@nickthaskater There is reasons Samsung has limited such. And looks like motorola is learning off Samsung's Dex due to they have understood the tactics used.
      One being that a fan helps cool the device and limiting apps to only 5 unless you use their Station/Pad (which have built in cooling fans) allows it to unlock this and bring more apps up on the display. Probably a thing motorola will be doing with their stand that has a fan built in to.

      Preach! DeX desperately needs competition. There are so many silly shortcomings with DeX that should be easily corrected, but Samsung has no incentive to do so. Complaints and issues go long ignored, and features are now actually getting worse in some cases (the taskbar/notification area in One UI 2.5 and later are horrible).

      They won't. But i might later in the future since i just nabbed the G100 for 440$. It's a fairly great system compared with dex. The only thing i have as a gripe is bluetooth keyboards with auto standby/shutdown tend to make the background flicker when turning on/off or likely exiting out of movie apps.
      Plus the annoying fact that the on display keyboard pops up and overlays over any app window you're looking at. But besides that. It's pretty great.
      It doesn't have the bugs like Dex does with Chrome/Edge browsers. Or Eve Echoes having a invisiable navagation bar on the top that if you click something to close ingame on the right. It'll X out of the game because of that stupid invisiable bar when the game is in windowed mode. + the annoyance of the game's screen text and graphics flicker when moving the mouse around.

    Pretty worried it would not be able to since the phone display seems to be deactivated.

    • @KillerRaptorr
      @KillerRaptorr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. You'd need to use phone for games requiring touchscreen or download a app to force enable gamepad mode to use on touch control display functions.
      Phone display isn't fully deactivated. You can still use it while desktop mode is enabled. Say for instance you're watching a movie or youtube video, and you are wanting to play a game on the phone itself. You can do so. Or swipe around etc. Though Dex and LG have it where the audio is limited to 1 video playback, so it might not pause the movie. but it might have game audio play over it.
      But some games that do only use touch display, Like say Eve Echoes for instance that can't use gamepad. It can use the mouse as a 'touch input' as if the mouse was your pointer finger (in desktop mode). And second galaxy for instance (though this might differ. LG on SS doesn't work well. But Dex does.). And keyboard will respond for chats but not for standard inputs.

      It mirrors what is playing on the phone, to a bigger display. So you can still use touch that way but also see on the bigger screen.
      Gamemode is mainly putting a single game of Desktop mode into a fullscreen system. So whatever games do support a game controller will work on this mode. But for games requiring purely touchscreens you'll likely need to do screen sharing aka mirroring mode.

      As if it was new. Almost all phones now adays are like laptops, So when you leave a device plugged in. It barely trickle charges the battery to keep it topped, But sents all the incoming charging power straight to the motherboard. Which is known as Pass-through or by-pass charging tech. Meaning there will be less heat due to no charging/discharging of the battery, And doesn't effect the battery life since it's not being charged/discharged. It's only when you unplug it that it'll run off battery mode.

    • @Dia1Up
      @Dia1Up 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KillerRaptorr ah I wasn't sure if there was a proper bypass. But even still it's the trickle charge at 100% that really kills batteries. I never charged my P20 past 85% (I bought I launch day) and the batter was 100% solid up until I got my Moto Edge+

    • @KillerRaptorr
      @KillerRaptorr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dia1Up Most chargers will only trickle charge when the battery drops a % internally (you'll never see this.). Even then, That would take days really for that kind of effect to happen. Most batteries can go almost years and only drop roughly half their battery life when their not in use (unplugged and left on a shelf,etc). So a day or two on a dock will not have any effect. To keep it topped. But 99% of the time. The power will be sent to the phone and not to the battery, Because the charging cabling is sent to the Motherboard, Both wired and wireless before their sent to the battery.
      Plus keeping the phone plugged in, is better because it's not doing 'FAST/SUPER/Hyper/Turbo/etc' charging which is where some companies can get their phones full charge in less then a hour, Normally a slow 12watt 5volts charging is around 2-3hours. and 5watts (slow charge) is around twice that.
      Heat and fast charging/discharging is the massive killer to batteries. So keeping it plugged in keeps it's peak performance and increases it's cycle life, Because you're not using the battery as hard as you do normally when unplugged.

The idea is to see the performance of the remote mode on the phone and see if it could simulate Android TV box experience. Can you add apps like Netflix, TH-cam and other VOD application you can have, maybe even a tv app if you have.This way we can see how the apps display in full screen and see how the remote is responsive with the interface.

      @@jerryrivera6328 I doubt, although when Google disabled wireless display casting from their nexus 9 and possibly also nexus 6, a simple magisk module could reactivate this basic android feature. Most AOSP ROMs also had this feature , since it was only a software limitation.
      Now I'm not sure if it's really hardware or just low level software that could be changed by drivers in the kernel ... That's way beyond me.
      A similar example is when Nintendo disabled HDMI out from the switch lite to make it unable to "switch" (output video to hdmi), they physically removed a tiny chip that would otherwise allow the usb on the switch lite to communicate with HDMI.
      The switch lite was perfectly capable of doing that since it shares the exact same internals with the normal switch

But G100 has gotten update to Android 12 and has wireless Ready-For also. + it packs more power since the G100 uses a SD 870 vs the edge 2021 that only uses a SD 778G.
