I love the part about the cats. It's nice to hear one where cats aren't a victim or some cheap scare factor and it's a bonus that they're little heroes.
You should watch the Stephen King movie, Cat's Eye. It's a movie where the main character is a cat and lots of bad stuff goes on as he tries to get home to protect a little girl.

This one is about a cat traveling across a city and ends up running into some crazy and strange things going on. The cat is a very good cat.

I have a beautiful lil lavender tabby named Tommy he is a sweet mischievous and very intelligent and only a year old lol I thought of him as soon as I read your comment lol I love cats I have five of them and cats are as smart as humans if not even more superior in a few ways... I'd love to have their eyesight especially at night lol... This was an awesome story😊

It made me cry, we don't know what completely happened with his brother but I assume he was transformed and needed to guard the park for whatever reason. He saved his brother though from a likely lethal fate, beautiful and tragic at once.

As a big Potterhead, we call that an Amimagus (Ani-MAJUS). I know this is a story about Disney and not Universal, but, I wonder if the narrator’s Bother was some kind of Animagus from Harry Potter. Professor Minerva Mcgonagall was a cat Animagus!

Just happened to me at my local 7-11 been going there since I was 5! I bought 2 waters for $4 and giving one to our local free spirit with a sandwich… I asked the nice young lady who helped me with my transaction…. Can I grab some napkins for Cyborg (that’s what he calls himself) and she said yesss he always takes care of me when I work. I go to get some napkins after spending enough and the other girl has the audacity to tell me to leave my bags (what I just bought) at the front. 🤦🏻♀️ I’m like I just ought this I’m just getting napkins and you did this to me before! She tells me “if I’ve told you before then you should know the RULES!” For Water plus other stuff Wow this society. Bless us all

Lol this story kind of hit close to home. I've been doing security work since I was 20. I'm 43 now. The only creepy site I was stationed at was monitoring a construction area in a hospital which was a neighbor to a cemetery. Yeah the noises I heard wow. Just brought back those memories

At 33.00 when you first mentioned the cats, a stray cat yowled outside my window, making a rare, fleeting appearance, just to add to the atmosphere. 😽
This was perfect. I've lived in central Florida for about 30 years. I do remember river country. Disney did close it down and has just left it to rot. Some brave or foolish urban explorers have gone in and it's absolutely creepy footage.
Both Disney and Universal have cats that roam the parks at night to help keep the pest population down. I've only seen a few of them.
I love that the cats were heros in this story. I can see Mickey being evil.
One time I was at Disney and Eeyore ate my breakfast. I had pancakes and he just freaking ate them. Like what the hell, dude?! I told the waitress who said "Oh. They're not supposed to do that." She didn't offer to bring another breakfast.

A few things… 1) eeyore is in a costume. He can’t eat anything.
2) the only place to eat pancakes with him is at the Crysta palace. It is a Buffett (was until covid), so you could have gotten more.

I remember one of the cats actually jumped in my lap when I visited a long time ago. I think it might've been the first time I held a cat. It came bolting up out of the rain and jumped up in my lap when I was sitting under the awning. Poor kitty was all soaking wet. Yes it rained pretty much the whole time I was there. Guess that's Florida. Not sure why they call it the sunshine state when it's surrounded by ocean and gets more rain than Sun. I would think Arizona or some desert or western state that never gets any rain would get that title. Anyway yeah that poor cat just wanted to be out of the rain.

I think it was the Mickey Statues that killed the staff, and the water gave children a sickness to turn them into cats to keep the evil Mickey's at bay while the water park was open!
That's my theory anyway :)
See how the cats are responsible for "keeping the rodent population at bay" i think that doesn't necessarily mean normal mice but maybe the mickey statues

i find the cat part interesting since cats are generally a mouse's biggest enemy (at least, that's what Tom and Jerry taught me). So, having those little furballs to be the hero in this type of story is really cool. also, i wonder if the protagonist would take the cat home. it could be a coincidence that the cat has the brother's name, but what if it really is his brother? that the brother might've accidentally drank the forbitten river water and thus became a cat? the story itself is both scary and sad.
The real monster of this story is the American healthcare system.

Here we go again. Another person leaving the new guy COMPLETELY UNPREPARED for what they are about to encounter. Just "heres some ridiculous sounding rules. Dont ask why, but follow these rules and youll be fine." Sorry, but these people in these rules stories should have to face their replacements in a locked room for 10 minutes. Also though, the new guys never help themselves, when they break rule #1 within 5 minutes of being on the job. Almost every single time. I still love the rules stories the most.

Yeah, I dig a good old rules story despite the abundance of dumb protagonists and trolling ex-employees. There's an occasional story that flouts convention and does something cool and satisfying with the concept. There's a movie theatre usher story on this channel that I remember being good!

One of the best told creepy stories I've ever listened to. Bonus for the cats being the hero of the story. My wife and I rescue cats and have rescued many now all whome hold a home with us. It wouldn't be the same without them. Great story.
Here is some speculation:
The park actually ISN'T some sort of dark, malevolent entity. The thirst it inflicts is not purposeful; it is simply the sensation of the water park that is now denied a source of fresh, clean water. In other words its "victims" are simply experiencing what it is experiencing it a misguided attempt to get them to give it water once again.
The Mickeys and Cats are both victims of the thirst. The Mickeys simply want to return the park to its former glory and take victims to increase their numbers. The Cats are those who are opposed to this goal, or at least how the Mickeys are going about achieving it, and protect people in the park.
It all stems from an Entity that is saddened, lonely and confused about being suddenly abandoned. And the simplistic minds of children that are able to "connect" with it and try to fix it as best they know how.
That seems like an amazing theory.

6:03-7:50 had me losing my mind. Describing how the little brother was acting gave me flashbacks to the days before my diagnosis with type 1 diabetes. LIKE ITS LITERALLY THE SAME. Loss of energy, zero desire for food, withering away despite eating, and excitement only for drinking water. AAAAAAA

Only thing about the story that irks me is the seeming disconnect between Tommy's condition when he was alive, and his new life as...a cat. With how desperate he seemed over needing water, I expected him to become some fishperson hybrid or at least that condition is what lead him back to the park so the Mickey's could put the axe to him. I just think that part needs a revamp, otherwise pretty ok story. Nothing special, but not bad at least imo.
Yeah I was left with a bunch of questions although the creepy factor was high enough for me to feel sufficiently creepified by the end.

I’m not sure why the missing became the cats, if cats were what kept the Mickeys in check. That seems counterproductive for the entity. Unless… 🤔
Possibly: The thirst was unrelated to the cats. Let’s say the thirst was the way the park brought the missing back to stay. Y’know.. water park.. thirsty.. all they want is water? 🤷🏽♀️
So let’s say the park just wanted to lure back and hoard the missing - packrat style - and it killed them but didn’t really bother with what became of them afterward.. So maybe the souls of the missing began to merge with the cats because they had a mutual desire to rid the park of Mickey.
Why tools? That’s another of my many questions. 🤔 Maybe it’s similar to the water theme in that the Mickey entity could house the evil sentient essence of the water park; its goal is to survive, meaning it has to attract guests and stay open. So maybe, in its flawed and twisted way, it makes people thirst for just one more return trip, and it generates shiny new tools to keep the park maintained. But in Mickey’s gloved grasp, the tools simply maim… 😈🐭 *squeak squeak squeaken*

There were several deaths that took place at River Country. The first was of an 11-year-old boy who contracted amoebic meningoencephalitis, an amoebic infection of the brain, from the water in 1980. Park officials noted that similar amoebic infections also occurred relatively frequently elsewhere, and said it was an inherent problem with freshwater lakes in warm weather and thus could not be blamed on the park's water system. Three other children had died in similarly questionable situations, in Florida, in the same month. The other two deaths were from drowning, in 1982 and 1989.
there were real causes of Naegleriasis (amoebic meningoencephalitis) at the park

Apparently Monsters Inside Me did an episode featuring a victim of River Country’s amoeba water. The kid and family had their names changed for privacy, but they still told their story. I was shocked at the fact Disney didn’t properly maintain and monitor this once great Water Park. Apparently they never used chlorine or any cleaning chemicals, which allowed the amoebas to spread like wild fire. They’re pretty common in the North East too. Makes you wonder what kind of dark magic this company has been hiding behind closed doors. There’s Mowgli’s Palace, Treasure Island, Pleasure Island, and many other secrets we’ve known for years. Love this story btw.

I don't see a ton of comments and I can't find it on the page or video description. Would you mind telling me what it is about? Is it for the upcoming book or is it like an ARG or what's going on with the numbers? I mean I get the basic premise, good entity good number goes up, bad entity bad number goes up. My cat and I loved this, I loved it because it was a great story, he loved it cause I was petting him throughout hearing this. Cats are renowned for keeping bad spirits away. Just like wolves, they get a bad wrap but they look out for us.

When I was 9 my friends parents offered to take me to Disneyland. I said no because I was afraid to go out of state with adults who were already molesting me but I was too afraid to speak then because of their threats.The strange thing is no one questioned why a 9 year old would say no to going to Disneyland.

I love that this author worked the abandoned River Country into a story. I remember going there in the 90s and it was actually really fun. My understanding of why it shut down was that it was just too small to keep up with the kinds of crowd sizes Disney gets.

Dude, my condolences. That's a sad frickin' story. I lost my brother last year, cirrhosis at age 52. Obviously not anywhere near the same. But I did start thinking about him and crying. He, my father and I went to Orlando 20 years ago. We stayed away from Disney. We spent our time at universal as we've always seen Disney as sort of Evil! I feel for you man.

Yes, I called that twist when the brother’s sweatshirt was found, but that’s because of story logic. There were 40 years between those events for the character, not 20 minutes.

All the way back too the video called "I was a Taxi Driver 20 years Ago and There's one passenger I'll never forget" have to watch them backwards but now when time for bed comes I have to scroll for like 2 straight minutes to get to the right video. But it's worth it. Very good story teller with great voices and reading ability. Funny when you sometimes pronounce the misspelling that the writer included, but clearly it doesn't bother me at all. Favorite channel by far.

I was working at Animal Kingdom back in the days...one of our cast members was killed by a panther. It was after closing, around 8:00 pm, he was working picking up things outside when that happened. I left a few days later.
For some reason i expected the Mickeys to be related to the victims . But tommy the cat. Whoa. Changed everything.

Usually when all you want to do is drink water is a sign of having sugar. Found that out when my nephew drank so much water, rhen the same thing happen when my son couldnt get enough water. So sorry to hear about this little boy.

Man, this story brought me back to Disney circa 1981 give or take a couple of years. I loved River Country! It wasn't the clear pool water, it was like being in a river. Man, this also makes me realize how old I am 😅

I remember my hospitality teacher wanted me to go to Disney and do their Disney Experience internships. I told him, I thought slave labor was illegal in the USA, as they charge you for food, room rent as you have to share a dorm with like 10 other people. You work all day and your room and board and food are taken directly out of your paycheck. But it's the experience of it he said. I told him no thanks I can get real experience and make money to live off of at the same time. I really did like what has become of Disney
