If you want to be "helpful", like yhe man in the story, you call dispatch and tell them the issue. Picking up kids that arent yours will get you fired and possibly jail time.
When I was in elementary school, I remember several big fiascos happening where a kid got on the wrong bus and effectively went missing, sometimes for hours. Once afterward, they held an assembly and basically hammered it into our heads that we were NOT to get on any bus except the one we were assigned to, for ANY REASON unless school staff specifically told us (or our parents) to do so. This story was cute and I see what it was going for, but that's a HUGE inconsistency with how bus routes actually work.

Rules stories are fun, but they're much better when something is actively trying to force the protagonist to break the rules, or when the protagonist breaks the rules without having had reason to believe them, here the protagonist was just being an idiot.
I haven't finished listening yet but I can already tell I like this story. I love when the rules are weird and unsettling, yet believable. They tell you just enough to be ominous but not too much to make someone refuse to follow them. Rules don't need to be over the top or super specific, just strange enough to raise suspicion. edit: finished. Yeah, I liked it

My heart just flutters every time I listen to a Lighthouse story. Thanks for providing such awesome tales and thrilling us with the incredible voices you use to bring these stories to life.
That was probably the most well written "rules" stories I've ever heard. Perfectly structured, creepy and very satisfying. Especially when read by the best narrator 👍🏼😎.
From what ive seen this guy definitely doesnt follow the rules but honestly if i even thought for a second the guy would screw up id kick him off the bus
Why would the bus driver assume "leave no child behind" ment invite or kidnap random people on to their school bus during their current route? WTF? Kids used to have bring permission slips or signed notes and school ids if they wanted to ride. There's gotta be way tighter protocol today than 10-20 years ago? I know it's just a story.
I know its not just me but I think I have an answer to the horror protagonist quandary. If they weren't dull or slower witted there'd be no spooky. Because consequences take dumbness... Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
While true, even the most competent person can be tricked or slip up. Those are the ones I like, not the "oh gee, I'm sure the rules are just a prank! What's the worse that can happen in this extremely spooky setting?"
They need to mess it up in a non-idiotic way, this guy was keeping a moral high ground because he sees the situation in black and white. With unique and supernatural things like this, you listen to the damn rules. The present kids were aware of it too, but he ignored them. I'm just glad the deceased kids were freed by Harland, the GOAT of this story while Joey remains a Beta.

All these stories req breaking of the Rules or there not story the easiest way to get there is to have the Protagonist break some of them.
Except dude was told if he left a kid behind, he'd have problems at work. Didn't want to jeopardize his job after the 1st day...
I was really really liking this one until he saw the ghost kid on the bus, yet STILL was worried about "what the administrator had said"
bus driver: I'm going to follow these rules for it was his death wish!
also bus driver: COME ON KIDS! Get your dead haunted butts here!
“Protect the kids”
*proceeds to put the kids in danger*
I love it when the music starts whenever the protag starts reading the Rules.
Its so good lol
I haven't finished listening yet but I can already tell I like this story. I love when the rules are weird and unsettling, yet believable. They tell you just enough to be ominous but not too much to make someone refuse to follow them. Rules don't need to be over the top or super specific, just strange enough to raise suspicion.
edit: finished. Yeah, I liked it
GOD!!!! These “rules” stories usually cause me to scream “IDIOT!!!!!” to the main character through the screen. Even I memorized all the rules the first time they’re mentioned. 🤦🏻♂️
Well, if the new driver would follow all the rules, there wouldn’t be much of a story to it, right?
@@nightowl5475 lol, not really. There are a lot of them where the main character do follow the rules with extreme difficulty & realizes why the rules exist and end up quitting the situation while they’re alive.
Haven’t heard this one since I listened to Mr.Creeps’s version. Made me appreciate your narrations even more, man. You’re one of the best at this
I can't listen to creeps, his monotone accent drives me bananas.
@@sawyersgirl5142His pronunciation is annoying ASF, I can't stand him.
The lack of paranoia about dangerous situations is a great lesson on what not to do. Rules exist for a reason and people can’t think why they exist.
I never saw some of these twists coming until the end. Nice writing, OP.
Brilliant as usual, Mr Stephen. Interesting how the sign on the Shool Bus changes, nice touch. 🇦🇺
First time I've wanted the main protagonist to experience the full consequences of his actions... unbelievably infuriating. Thank God for Patrick
I'm so thankful I found this channel. Usually I can't fall asleep unless I'm totally exhausted but I can fall asleep within ten minutes listening to these stores. Yeah it takes a few days to get through a longer video but that's okay.
I always enjoy these "my new job has some strange rules" stories. They follow a similar pattern, but each one is a little different! I usually use them as a warm-up story before watching a scarier one as the main feature. 😁
Ooooh! A new Rules story from Lighthouse!
_Immediately settles in for a good listen_
ETA - That was a couple of cool (and spooky) little twists to the end!
Love the protagonist just not realizing that he should have a list of who goes on his bus, for one, and two, that every kid at a bus stop might not be standing there for your bus
Patrick was really holding it down lmao
My heart just flutters every time I listen to a Lighthouse story. Thanks for providing such awesome tales and thrilling us with the incredible voices you use to bring these stories to life.
I STOPPED COOKING AND DIDN'T REALIZE IT TILL THE END OF THE STORY. AMAZING.
The kids seem exceptionally smart, you should have listened. The random rules are for a reason.
Your voice is as smooth as Mr. CreepyPasta. I like it!❤
Your right!
This one hurt. But helped with what recently happened. I hope all travelers who are lost to the roads make it home afterward.
That was probably the most well written "rules" stories I've ever heard. Perfectly structured, creepy and very satisfying. Especially when read by the best narrator 👍🏼😎.
I LOVE the Rules Pastas! Keep them coming plz!!!
My favorite genre! Not sure how long you’ve been subbed but he has a playlist called Rules To Survive on his channel with all of them and it’s awesome
This made me tear up when Mr. Harland said he'd keep all the kids safe his time.
On god like WTH people literally get fired for this.
I loved this one! The combination of traditional freakiness, combined with the caring of adults & innocence of children made it an emotional rollercoaster!
You should be able to share your skill on skillshare. I can’t put my finger on what makes your channel the best creepypasta narration, but it is. 🖤
He makes the story come alive with his soft voice and acting abilities he draw you right into story. He just bring it so alive but protected.
Love love love your content Stephen! Appreciate you and the authors that allow you to read their stories because they are awesome writers but there’s no one better than you to bring them to life and make them real!!! Fantastic stuff my friend!!! Keep posting and I’ll keep listening and sharing!!! Take care y’all! 🩵😃🌹
Woooo hooooo finally I'm on time to watch 😅!
Your awesome thanks for the best videos on TH-cam!!!
If there is a list of rules then the driver isnt driving normal kids around.
Love these strange rules video!
Perfect 2am bedtime spook! Lighthouse is always hitting, chefs kiss
I’ve been following you for years. You are awesome!
Oh Baby, this story made me cry. I was close to my bus driver when I was in school.. "Cheryl" all thru school 🏫 . You are my absolute FAVORITE narrator. Your so cute, qnd your voice is calming. This story was.... heart-wrenching... especially with you telling it...
JUST had to let you know darling, thank you for your commitment, and keep up your wonderful work ❤❤❤
Nice! Another strange rules video!
Excellent job with this story. It is so sweet. I like buses. Patrick was so nice to you. You took all of them in without a second thought. You didn’t just leave because you thought he was crazy. Bravo!
Can’t sleep without your narrations! Then i listen on the way to work to whatever i missed after passing out😂 Thanks for all you do!
My evening: check to see what Lighthouse uploaded, get dinner, and LET'S GO! I love the new scenery and artistic works too!!!
Thank you Stephen for another awesome pasta. Top notch work as always, and I see we got more rules to follow haha. Thank you for making my night. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
This story drew me in and it really delivered. Great job!
Always so excited to see your uploads!
This was one of my favorites by far. Thanks for doing what you do. I have PTSD and just listening to your voice or the stories calms me and I’m able to sleep. Thanks again and keep doing great like usual.
Sincerely
Joy B.
Keep up the strange rules videos they are my favorite thing to listen to at night I have them all in a playlist ❤❤❤❤❤
Very well done! At least nobody got thrown under the bus. Cheers!
I Work At A Nuclear Power Plant, It Has A List Of Rules - I didn't read them now there's like 8 different alarms going off it's mayhem lol.
That kid sitting behind you on the bus is freaking me out!😂 Thank you for the new rules story tonight! You pick the best stories and I really appreciate it. Have a fabulous Friday everyone!🤗💜🕷
I'm new to the channel and I'm so excited to binge listen everything! 😊
I love taking a break, sitting down with my hand sewing, and listening to a weird story. And you, Lighthouse Horror, never disappoint!
These rule pastas are always very interesting!
I love the rules stories. Thank you for all your hard work.
New lighthouse! 😊
I get hooked on creepy pasta narrators fast, but only you and afew others can captivate me like this! It's like CGS, you both bring me into the moment of the story, like I'm there with you, living it. Thankyou for this amazing channel 😁
Absolutely loved that story
1:19 “kids r cool” 🤷🏽♀️ stretching it hahahaha
SPOILER(?):
I havnt finished this yet but already I wanna deck the driver! FOLLOW THE RULES!!!
Mr. Harlen is a legend!
My favorite storyteller on TH-cam never skip an upload!
I love me some lighthouse horror stories
This one was especially amazing. Great job!
I work as a court room stenographer, we have some strange rules (Don't go into the basement after midnight during a full moon in August on a leap year)
Please elaborate
You won't believe number 37!
So 1-2 times every four years.
Let me guess, that's the first thing you did?
That was a nice story. Expertly narrated by the best storyteller on TH-cam! Stephen, you are immensely talented.
I like the story. One thing, if Patrick is the last child back home, should he not be the first one on the bus to school?
YES YOU ARE RIGHT
I was that kid every year and it was infuriating how much time bus rides wasted of my life ughhh
finally a RULES horror story where the protag didnt follow one, and thankfully was saved, it was chilling yet sad
