    I completely trust everything he says. I’ve had two different piercings and the piercers gave me horrible instructions on cleaning the fresh piercing and I always had it become infected or irritated and both times I come to this guy to see what he says, and it always works

    I stop half way and move my belly piercing so the whole bar gets cleaned & wipe dry with a tissue
    it’s been a week .. I’ve had the best results .. no puss, no crisping, painless, no redness

    I think to have a good hygiene routine helps any wound heal. I didn't do the salt water. I used saline solution and bactine to an extent in which it wasn't excessive 1ce or 2ce but my area was kept clean. Loose clothing no jeans. Not touching my peircing with dirty hands. No moving or touching my piercing unless it was by my own body movement. No body soaps or any type of cleaning solution that wasn't the wound wash went near my fresh navel peircing for the first 2 weeks ( I did miracles with those showers, shower ninja) no washing my body with anything that might hook onto my piercing and tug on it.
    It took my body 6-7 months to finally heal my navel.
    I think every piercer is different every body is different. I went to mine because of his 12 years exp

    • @voltaiccorsair9415
      @voltaiccorsair9415 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Necroing this comment because information is important, saline solution is literally salt water. The salt to water ratio is all that determines if it can go in your body or be used to clean wounds.

    I got mine pierced last night, so I've had it in a little over 24 hours- No redness, I don't think it's swollen at all. I did what my piercer instructed, and I'm kinda surprised it's not red or swollen at all. I may jinx myself and it'll be red and swollen tomorrow, but so far so good. I watched this video before I went in and just now again afterward. Thank you so much for your informative video. It really soothed my pre-piercing nerves and helped me understand the care I'd need to start as soon as I got it.

A very important tip Matt mentioned was Do Not touch it, play, rotate it because that damages the healing cell tissues internally, be careful when dressing. I got my belly button pierced 4 days ago, the piercer told me showering was OK, so I took my shower on the third day. It then started to feel itchy and redness occurred, today morning I started to feel a pain and it became more severe. I asked my piercer and she told me to take the ring/bar off, rinse the belly surface with hydrogen peroxide solution, and clean the ring with medical alcohol and then put it back. I did this in in the afternoon, but the pain didn't soothe or go away. It is still swollen and with pus coming out, and still hurts really bad. I thought I got a fever in the afternoon. How can I tell if I'm experiencing infection or metal allergy ?

    Thank you so much ♡♡♡ I appreciate this information a bunch! I just got mine done maybe 5 or 6 weeks ago and it's only been a little red around the holes, little bit of discharge but nothing that smells. I've cleaning out a small metal condiments container to put salt water in, I've just been using warm water, shaking some table salt in there and hanging out like you recommended. Ive been cleaning it with a q-tip as well and Ill accidentally hit it or move it around. (Which is probably bad for the table salt part? But no ones told me otherwise when doing so) So I'm doing it mostly right, just wrong supplies? It's been a little itchy lately but nothing uncomfortable. It only hurts when I hit it, which is a given. Yeah, that's about it, sorry for the ted talk. You seem like you know what you're talking about-

    Question.. I’ve been doing sea salt soaks and making sure I dry it off completely afterwards with a paper towel even the cracks between the jewelry and swelled skin. Is this too invasive? Should I let the piercing/ jewelry air dry instead?? I am scared that leaving even a little bit of salt water around the piercing could cause issues with the healings process.

    • @amberrlikewhoaa

      Aaliyah Mcmullen while this is sometimes true, in my experience there are some things that will make it more likely to reject. improper afercare, trauma to the area (getting snagged constantly) and inappropriate jewelry (not titanium or surgical steel) will increase chances of rejection. i had a belly button piercing that rejected after 6 months of healing relatively well because i changed fo jewelry to sterling silver, which i was allergic to

    • @manupine
      @manupine 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aubrianna8881 this!! rejection happens a lot with belly button piercings but making sure you take care of it well is going to decrease your chances by a lot, almost everyone i know whose belly button piercing rejected did something they shouldnt have (usually just changing the jewelry too early). belly buttons heal from the outside in so making sure you wait until you've hit that 6 - 12 month mark is important. my piercer told me that if i wanted to change the jewelry i could come in and have her look at it before to make sure its really healed and im pretty sure most piercers will do this if asked.

    I hope someone reads this and gives me advice since I know this video is so old.
    I got my navel pierced three days ago. My piercer told me to clean it twice a day and I actually bought the solution they had in their shop (it's called NeilMed Piercing Aftercare fine mist wound wash). She told me to just spray the solution twice a day and immediately get a q-tip and dry it all up around the bars really well, not to leave any moisture in my belly button or around it because moisture or leaving it wet can cause infection. The guy in the video said to leave a sea salt solution on it for 5 to 10 minutes, rinse it with water and then just pat it dry and to NOT use a q-tip. Very conflicted on what to do since my piercer and the man in the video said opposite things.
    What advice is more correct or do both methods work? I'm really scared of getting an infection.

    • @brookevdine
      @brookevdine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i would say depending on the ingredients in the aftercare they gave you… it should have sea salt/water in it. saline (sea-salt and water) is by far the best thing to clean your piercings. i would advise against using a q-tip as it can move around your piercing and leave cotton behind.

    • @chrissybrea8735

      update on the piercing?? mine was pierced not long ago and im still looking for a cleaning routine….

    • @LovePatchSour
      @LovePatchSour 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrissybrea8735 Hi! It's been 5 months now and I got it downsized last month and it looks really good according to my piercer (and myself haha). :) I did what was done in the video. I would let my solution soak in my belly button for about 10 minutes, then I would pat it dry with a paper towel, and afterwards I would get a q-tip and SUPER GENTLY clean around the piercing. It will obviously be waaay tender since you just got it so maybe don't do that last step for a couple of weeks or until it's not as sore? But the reason I did it is because a bunch of plasma and a tiny bit of blood will form around the piercing and the paper towel won't get it off. It's honestly satisfying seeing all that gunk come off with the q-tip and leaving it nice and clean. It's worked for me as there's no infection or irritation in this entire time I've had it. Best of luck!

    • @jariahwilliams9392
      @jariahwilliams9392 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LovePatchSour could you elaborate on what you mean by plasma ? Around the top bar the skin is kinda white, almost like it dead until I clean it with my saline solution, then it lifts up. It’s not really fluidy but it’s not super thick too. Ik thick is a sign for infection but I just wanna know if you’re experiencing the same thing :/

    I’m really nervous to do a salt soak with the shot glass because o don’t wanna submerge the piercing. I feel like it could mess something up. I’ve just been making a mixture of my sea salt and water in a shot glass and using q-tips to clean around it and dry it off. Is this okay? I got it pierced 5 days ago and it doesn’t hurt at all anymore and it’s just slightly pink. No swelling and no heat but it is slightly itchy sometimes.

    • @taylorreed564

      it is good to submerge it with the sea salt water because it lets it completely clean the piercing. but do not submerge it with any other water like taking a bath because the germs in the water can cause infection.
