    - no alcohol/ anti bacterial stuff on it
    - saltwater, sea salt solks; distilled water + non ionid sea salt; use glass not plastic !; in microwave (warm not burning !) soak vor 7-15 minutes !

    It is so important to boil the water first, especially if you make it in advance. Boil in the microwave or on the stove. Get it up to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute, then let it cool to a comfortable temperature. PSA from someone getting a Masters degree in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology (5 piercings so far.) Stay safe!

      Every time you open up the bottle, mold spores and bacteria in the air land on the water's surface. So distilled water starts sterile but doesn't stay that way once it's opened. It's probably ok but I wouldn't take a chance. I mostly made the comment because i thought it was a little irresponsible for the piercer to say to leave it out and not boil it.

      @@domiinessaa9118 use non iodized salt. In iodized salt they put iodine which is similar to alcohol in the sense that while it cleans scars out, it’s really harsh for your skin. Thank you so much for posting this! I recently got my tragus pierced with a ball closure ring and after a few weeks, the ball fell off. I made the horrible mistake of trying to put it back on myself and the piercing got infected. I was cleaning it with that piercing solution stuff that you can get from the mall (my piercer hadn't really given me any aftercare instructions), but it wasn't doing any good, so I switched to sea salt soaks. The next morning after using the soak, the infection was pretty much almost gone! I've been doing the soaks for a few days now and my piercing is almost back to normal.

Place a dripping cotton ball, or half, on each side of the piercing. Leave it to soak a solid 15 minutes. Squeeze the excess saline on each side of the piercing. You're done! ✅

    if a piercing is showing early signs of an infection, swelling redness, feeling warm, (it shouldt happen, but it can), add a little bit of providone iodine to the solution. just a few drops, to give it an amber or light tea color. the earlier you act, the better! one should always have iodine solution on hand anyways.

    Love your accent! Watching this from SCOTLAND, UK and greatly appreciate the advice! I'm going into day 3 of my cartilage piercings only using aftcare from my piercing salon (which contains tea tree oil) and saline solution. Hate using cotton buds as I seem to move the piercings slightly and it hurts! Will be doing soaks instead and quite happily! Thanks for the advice xx just hope I'm not too late to start them!

And then some sites and my piercer says I can use alcohal to clean my cartilage pierce then some say don't?! I'm not even sure what to do anymore! Someone please help.

      Leeann Feng you probably figured it out already since it’s been a month but if not, i used alcohol to clean my helix piercing and i use alcohol to clean the earrings every time i would put a new one on and my helix piercing healed and is fine. however just in case if i were you i wouldn’t use alcohol just in case because you’d rather be safe than sorry.

      Do rotate , rotating will disturb the scabs a prolong healing , and when you rotate the little scabs can be very sharp in the piercing hole

    • @ashlierupert2492
      @ashlierupert2492 6 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      You’re not supposed to use alcohol because it prolongs the healing process, it kills the bad stuff but it also kills your white blood cells (which are what heals it). Same with peroxide. This is even the same in the medical field, you never clean wounds more than once with alcohol or peroxide. You only rotate when the piercing is wet, don’t do it dry because it will tear as someone else stated. But if you clean your piercing, the scabs are softened or completely gone, so rotating won’t damage. Rotating prevents your skin from basically growing and attaching to the piercing. Coming from someone who has piercings, grew up in a tattoo shop and is in the medical field...have faith in me lol

Dont be as dumb as i am/was) the ring got caught up in almost everything, the helix got extremely irritated, very swollen, itched and hurted a lot. So i took the ring out and put the old jewelry(which is titanium) back in. Right now the itching and the redness is almost completely gone. I really hope this heals up and the swelling goes away too.

Do sea salt soaks twice a day for a little while and if that doesn't help I would suggest taking the piercing out and waiting for it to heal before getting it re-pierced or contacting your piercer

    I don’t even have piercings nor am I planning on getting any but for any kind of wound, scrape, sore, infection etc my go to is boiling water and then putting like 1/2 of epsom salt per gallon of water in it and letting it cool just to the point where I can stand it without it actually burning me. I’ve seen it physically draw out pus from everything from a splinter to an infected hangnail or an ingrown toenail. That and when I had staph once on my lower calf the doctor told me to use plain dial bar soap and water to wash it with like 4 times a day as well as using the cream they gave me and taking oral antibiotics. Idk why specifically dial maybe because it’s just a super plain cheap bar soap but I used it instead of our usual lever 2000 (the green bar which my parents somehow raised me up on and never once changed our brand of soap for the near 22 years I’ve been alive and now I can’t use anything else or I don’t feel clean or I breakout lol)
