I remember when this episode was on TH-cam for free
This was when episodes were good. Last episode you could tell that Frieberger and Finnegan have moved on. They didn’t even get the car running, paid a shop to do it for them.
The good old days, at least you can pirate them if you still want to watch them. Motor Trend could have avoided that if they kept it accessible, Motor Trend won't even let me pay to watch it where I live.
The Big Picture my dad gets motor trend at his house so I watch it when I’m there and you’re totally right that they want to move one. That’s why I miss the old episodes even more

@@thebigpicture2032 They would tear down engines in parking lots to meet deadlines, now they just pay a shop to do it for them. The old Roadkill was way better than any car show.

Do you think something in your wheel wells is sucking the air out the intake? It sounds like the faster you go, the more the engine is starving for air.
If it weren't an internet celebrity with a film crew, they would have lynched him for digging those trenches into that fresh salt.
For a top speed car, 8000 rpm is where your power band should start.

@@wickedwagens In case you didn't notice, Freiburger dug two DEEEEP trenches with his back tyres into that fresh new surface. And in case you haven't tried to drive fast on such surface, those trenches can, and almost certainly did cause a fatal safety hazard.
@@oikkuoek Trenches happen on the salt, that's why they discuss it in this very episode how much of an advantage fresh straights and morning runs are. There's nothing you can do about that. And they absolutely did not cause a fatal safety hazard given the lack of fatalities. Additionally, 8000rpm is not where your power band should start, and given the sheer amount of records Frei has in that car, on those flats, in that world, I'd wager he's got a decent grasp on it, and that the Roadkill schedule disaster is the real issue. At the end of the day, it's merely spilled salt.

@@Antiganos The car and engine owners, David Freiburger and Keith Turk have stated that it's close to 7000 pounds... it's very ballasted. Land speed cars typically get extra weight added for stability and traction. When you have 5 miles to accelerate it, weight is not a big deal like it is in 1/4 mile. Aero plays a much bigger role. Cheers as well!

Just like the 70’s. A Formula with a stock hood and no air dam is 8 mph faster. Herb Adams and the Poncho gang burned the midnight oil on the Firebirds, including power and aero, while Chevy canned the Z28 for years in favor of their precious plastic Vette.
