The first video I watched after I read the news of Ronnie's passing. Rest In Power. So glad we can so easily find videos of the Ronettes making history.
Abosultely agree. "Be My Baby" is perfection. The iconic intro, Ronnie's vocals, the lyrics, the breakdown, the Hal Blaine masterclass from simple to sublime, the Wall of Sound.
She's still black just light skinned and if her father was black instead her and her sister would probably be a darker shade skin tone. Her cousin is the other singer she's black, Cherokee and puerto rican she's the only 1 left alive from the group.

Ronnie deserves the accolades, but it must be said the unique comfort of having your sister and cousin in your group created synergy. They were no doubt tight! And then to have the mad genius of writer/producer/husband Phil Spector creating those epic songs and sounds. My God, the beat of Be My Baby drove musical geniuses and an entire generation wild!

The best Ronettes performance on TH-cam. Apparently when Phil Spector saw them dancing at the end he blew his top at them. He thought it was too dirty.
At about 3:34 Ronnie places the mic down as this is the start of ad lib routine as the girls know to follow. You can tell as the cameras were trying to catch up with them because the routine is not going as rehearsed. Rumor has it Phil slapped Ronnie up backstage after the performance.
@thatbitchpriscilla The dance is planned and choreographed. The part where Ronnie places the mic down up to the turn with butt shaking is improvised. Last explanation.
This is a great video. I love the Ronettes- and Ronnie's squeal at 1:40 is just awesome. But watching this I wonder how many of the dancers and audience are dead? The youngest members of the audience are at least 70. And if any of those dancers are alive, can they still walk, much less dance?
you brought up the squeal sounds she does, it adds to the performance most of theses remaster videos take out that part when doing there so called crap remasters
