Thanks for the great review on this product. This is what I was looking for. I wanted to keep the factory dash intact. Real guy giving a real review. Thanks!
As for the phone calls being finicky sometimes with Android Auto is more of an issue with Android Auto or car play themselves, because i have a 2023 Durango R/T as a company vehicle and my Android Auto has done the same stuff. Ive had to restart the durango to get it to reconnect sometimes.
I think that non-connect issue is a Lexus issue. My Gs300 does that with connecting my phone to Bluetooth for the music, on the car start. I have to 2006 either turn the car off and on OR there’s a scan button on the factory audio screen that you have to use to connect to your phone.
I've had multiple cars with Bluetooth setups, both factory and aftermarket. Bluetooth is finicky in general. That is definitely not unique to this thing.
They have wireless dongles for your wireless CarPlay and AA in your RX. I got one for my IS that’s like that and it will automatically connect so that should help with your wireless AA and CarPlay in your RX. Thanks for the video I’m debating on the from and I heard of issues over and over even from installers. My installer said that he had issues with the system itself with every one he has installed.
@@AutoMatticMatt yeah it’s really the only options for the 2014-2019 model Lexus without a separate unit.. so I’m going to definitely give it a go because it’s a feature ive become use to. Really all I want is CarPlay and AA 😂😂 but I’m a clean line person so I like everything looking factory and nice and hate wires. I’m definitely going to give it a go.
Most of the problems I experience are with android auto and apple car play. If you just use the Vline interface. Your probably in that 90-95 percentile.
Thank u ..I was going to get this but I was just replacing a different one that has the same issue with phone call. Have u tried a magic box fr rx it will fix the wireless issues.
@@AutoMatticMatt That is the reason that putting it underneath the passenger seat provided access and ventilation. Putting it in the glove box per Grom is not well ventilated.
This is a great question. Took me so long to respond because I had to get a aux cord and adapter to work on my phone. I can confirm that the aux still works as it did before. I almost forgot there was even a aux port in the car!

Apple sheeple still not understanding that the garbage experience they had with an Android 8 years ago was becuase they bought a cheap phone and not becuase android is bad. Lol.
It's kind of pricey but it's worth it to keep the OEM look.
"Phone calls are a bit finicky".... No one calls me so I'm good my guy lol
So you haven't heard about the extended car warranty ?

Thanks for showing that the side buttons still work 😊

It does have issues. It's been pretty reliable for me mostly.

Been waiting for this banger🔥
What about those $120 units that you can add on the dash?
same thing here! i cant go back to android auto or grom system if im talking to somebody on the phone
I couldn't find anything about it online. I might shoot them an email and see if there is something we're missing.
@@AutoMatticMatt ive been working with them. still trying to figure it out.
Do all steering wheel controls still work with the grom? I wonder if this would work with a 2001 ls430 ul.
Great, thanks for sharing your experience
I have issues in my x5 with OEM CarPlay where it won’t connect either
80% is not acceptable for me 😂
I need that to be like 95%

But yes I really need it to be like 99% 😂

Do you have the microphone setup? I use the hands free call a lot in my 07 and would be kinda annoyed if it stops that.
I do have the microphone setup. But all of the calls still seem to use the cars bluetooth.
nice update ! how does the sound system sound after the upgrade, and do you have the mark levinson ?
Yes and it sounds great!
Just want to see a video or movie on it
Other TH-cam channels indicate that the box gets hot and needs to be placed in ventilated spot.
Factual. The box does get hot. But you also want to put it somewhere you access it because every now and again it has its issues..

OEM backup cam works?
Yes sir
Can you make a video of the maps in motion
just guessing but The buggy actions are probably because they only have 2gb of ram which is crappy by todays standards.
Maybe I missed it, but does the grom access through the aux port? So you lose the port in the center console?

Can you play dvds through the grom?
I mean you can watch movies and stuff. As for a dvd itself nope.
@@AutoMatticMatt appreciate. Want to get one for my LS
@@reidsmith4423 did you happen to get it yet fit your LS. I'm considering it too but I feel the Ram and storage needs to be upgraded.
I was wondering this also. Might need to get the dvd bypass from beat-sonic to get past the e-brake sensor
Problem number 1 your using a android…buy apple my brudda
