Cuz, you couldn't have picked a more perfect day for this!! Been there so many times I could never count! A great place for Fish & Chips and a wee go in the arcade!

Haha actually had to go twice as first time it was blowing a gale and filming was impossible. I remember heading down many times to the Wilmore bar when they used to hold rock concerts of local bands, many ales and headbanging resulted, the folly of youth 😀

As kids we holidayed in Cranfield but always enjoyed our extra treat to Newcastle and particularly the big humpy bumby slides 😂 many photos of thise days, great memories. I too thank you for going to the trouble of putting this and the other videos together and uploading for us. So much information about all the places that i didn't know . Keep roving around NI for us 👏👏

Really interesting video with lots of history. I'm looking forward to visiting soon. Maybe an ice cream and a walk along the sea front 😅.

Sounds great! It's hard to get the sunshine, but if you are lucky enough, it's a great place for a day tip. Remember the golden rule in Northern Ireland, layers, T-shirt, woolly jumper, rain coat, umbrella lol.

Thank you very much. We had to visit Newcastle twice as on day one it was blowing a gale and filming was impossible. Sadly digging up the historical facts and stories are quite difficult and present a challenge in themselves. Would love to have covered more but alas one is always forced to summarise any place that we visit. Glad you enjoyed it 😃

I can just imagine how time consuming it is collating all those stories and wonderful pictures ! This little glimpse into the past, happy and sad, brings these places alive again, for a short time, for us to appreciate.

So much history and beauty that has been lost to the progress of time, not always for the good, makes it all the more important to remember our amazing past.

I remember being here several years ago entering a cross-country race, was a lot of fun but to be honest wasn't really taken with the town centre, although obviously the Mourne's and seafront are amazingly beautiful. But having watched this and seeing how wonderful the town used to be, it's made me re-think that opinion. Great video, love the history. Greetings from the Netherlands 😄

    • @nornirishrover

Yes I'm aware of the many cross-country events they hold in Newcastle every year people travel from all over to compete which is good for the town too. I know what you mean about the town centre of today, it makes me sad to see how beautiful it once was now almost gone to modern progression. I think I was born too late in life, the 1800's would have suited me better, the buildings alone were stunning compared to todays plain bland architecture. We could do with restoring the beauty that has been so callously and without thought stripped out. Thank you for your kind comments, greeting from Northern Ireland.
