On this channel you'll find a decade's worth of hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and have regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my joy, as is my latest passion: sewing and costuming.
You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and slow & conscious living videos.
    Enjoy browsing!

I LOVE seeing older houses that would have been SO trendy when they were first done (or last renovation!) like this house was the COOLEST in the … 60s?

    • @cakeeeetime

      80s-90s?

more like late 80s early 90s, haha.

I would have thought late 70s early 80s. (I have been alive long enough to remember that era.)

    • @cakeeeetime
      @cakeeeetime 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

@@New_Wave_Nancy I think its maybe 80s. That classic combo of gold and dusty pink/turqoise screams 80s to me. But the"cottage core" door seems more 60s/70s. I am wildy guessing by childhood memorys (late 80s/early 90s) and the house my grandparents own (mix early 2000s and 60s/70s).

The house was built in the late 60s, and I assume some rooms were renovated in the 80s :)

I LOVE my bidet when it's that time of the month. I imagine it would be a godsend after childbirth too. I try to convert people to the awesomeness of bidets, but they aren't popular here in the US.

There are toilets with a built in bidet or you can add a bidet attachment to your existing toilet for a functional two in one fixture.

@@erikatheicyone Yes! I forgot to include mine is an aftermarket wand that's connected to the water line and hooks onto the toilet. Best Amazon purchase yet lol.

    1. I would keep the cabinet doors and instead replace the counter tops and backsplash. 2. I would keep the bidé, but I get why you would want to fit a bath tub in there instead.

I love the pink toilet, bidet, sink situation. You could make it look like a Wes Anderson bathroom if you replaced the tiles with something like a wallpaper or colourful tiles. But I agree with you that the layout and fixtures needs to be updated.
Anyway, congratulations on your new home. Such an exciting milestone 😀

Congratulations to you and Robert on the new house. Have fun with all the renovations. Personally, I like the mirror on the wall in the kitchen because it brings more light to the space. Something else you may want to consider is creating closets underneath the staircases if that's possible. Gives you much more storage. Thanks for the tour!

  • @zenign

Looks like the previous design was mostly a mixture of late 80s to 90s design scheme with the kitchen and bath being a mild art deco / Hollywood regency revival and the attic carpet the geometric print that's so popular from the late 80s to 90s. All of these trends have made a comeback in the past 10 years or so, just in a more bubbly and pastel color scheme and a focus on different geometric shapes. I guess my point is that a lot of what we consider "outdated" can be traced back to a certain art and fashion style, which are all cyclical. If pastel deco is your thing the kitchen would look cute with just a simple color update and the right accessories. If it's not your style, then they will still go. But it's always nice to consider what original style these "old things" are trying to go for to expand your design ideas. Working with an existing style is always much cheaper and less work :)

The mauve bathroom fixtures and gold metal wall accents bring me back to the 80’s. It reminded me that when I was your age, the interiors of older folks’ homes were coated in mint green paint, a popular color in the 1950’s. If a home was advertised as “mint condition”, you knew it would need to be updated. 😊
