Congratulations. We live in South Africa and when I hear you talking about wanting more space, I realise how priviledged we are to have the space we have.
I'm so happy for you!! You've been telling us for years how much you want a house and how difficult it's been (same problems here in the US, at least anywhere near a big city) and I am so glad you finally found not just a house but your dream house!! Good luck with moving and renovating and decorating, and we'd love to see whatever parts you want to show us!!

Congrats on the house!!! Its exciting getting a new house. My dad retired and moved to a new house, so my boyfriend and I are taking over the mortgage of his old house. Its the perfect size for the two of us, and 3 cats. We are slowly fixing it up and painting and moving in.

If you are thinking about a vegetable garden may I suggest the book Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew. It was also a US PBS Television series decades ago. It solves the usual problem of growing vegetables of nothing then nothing then nothing then 40kg of tomatoes or carrots or whatever.

Yay! I'm excited for you. Me and my wife are in the buying process, and I have some horror stories from our first realtor we used. It almost cause a nervous breakdown for me (eeek) but we got a better realtor and it has been so much smoother. Here in the US, we have to have financing before we buy a house, unless it is a cash offer, but we can still put stipulations like, house inspection etc. I hope you enjoy the house (with no more neighbors doing renovations!) First of all congratulations on getting the house you want in the neighborhood you want and knowing already this could be the house you and your husband will grow old in. It seems like many people I know either personally or otherwise are either looking for a house or just bought one. My sister and her husband moved in to their first house together just about two months ago. They didn’t have a super difficult time with the house hunting process as they moved to a completely new and more affordable city within the last year. They were also super lucky to be able to buy a brand new house on a beautiful tree-lined street. The only thing they do not have is a garage for their two cars and they park on the street but it’s a minor convenience for getting exactly what they wanted in a first home. I saw recently on your Instagram stories that you are making a computer mock-up of your house and trying to design it to your liking to see if everything fits. My sister has been doing something very similar with her house as she is a graphic designer. If you know how to do that, it really brings the house to life and makes your furniture decisions that much easier. The issue with other people I know who have been on the hunt for their first home as well is the housing market in my country is not the greatest right now. There isn’t a lot to show people no matter what city or town you want to live. This makes it that much more competitive. Everyone is forced to pay way over asking price (I consider asking price barely a suggestion at this point) and they are still getting outbid. This happened a few times to my sister’s best friend before she finally had an offer accepted. It also didn’t help that she and her husband were looking in expensive areas like you. It all depends on not only the housing market but the city or town you like best. It’s awesome you will be close to where your parents live. This will make it super easy to have built in babysitters if you decide to start a family in the future. We need an update and a short tour of the house once you officially move in. I’m glad you are not moving to another apartment. It seems like you have had a string of bad luck in apartments with terrible neighbors or endless construction that prevents you from working. I am not a hairstylist but I am a follow wavy hair girl who cuts her own hair. I wonder if you had a couple layers in your hair if it would help with your hair naturally keeping the waves present. I gather my hair in a pony tail on the center of the top of my head, extend ponytail straight up and cut an inch or two off the length. Not sure if it would work for thin hair however. Just a thought 💜

Oh boy I felt your pain !! My husband and I have been there: the wait is excruciatingly stressful! We live in one of the most competitive housing markets in my country (the US). I wrote a letter as well and by miracle we got our forever home 3 years ago. I am so happy for you!!

Haha, I cut my hair the opposite of how you do it, also been doing it myself since I was a teenager after bad experiences with professionals. I comb mine up and to the back and chop the tips off, that way the front is long enough to stay in the braid my hair usually lives in, and I'm sure I've saved thousands of dollars at this point.

Wow, congratulations on your choice, hope everything goes well. And for the hair cutting, you know, when you have pretty long wavy hair and easy method of cutting it's just fine, I cut my hair on my own since I was 11 and my mom couldn't do this anymore. I consider going to a hairdresser now just because I'd like to cut it short and that's what I'm not sure I can do myself.

Ohhhh so happy for you. It's wonderful to have your own home...I myself miss it so much. I'm sure your going to have fun fixing it up , the way you want. I cut my hair too been doing it off and on for years now. Usually short but decided to try something different, wanting a little more length. I've managed to cut a short shag...and love it. Can't wear it long...gives me migraines...but so far with longer layers in the back...seems to be working. Again I'm so happy about the house. Almost in tears.

Hairdresser here, just a bangs tip for blending--if you make the triangular section of bangs wider (across your hairline) but NOT deeper (into your part), you can get a softer blend into long hair. Also, as a fellow glasses wearer, I find this sectioning to stay out of my frames a little more. Congratulations on the home!!
