    Hey girl, an idea about the missing tile! When you mentioned it, it reminded me that recently Anna from the channel "How to renovate a chateau" made her own personalized kitchen tiles in a ceramic workshop. I thought it may be cute if your hubby and you made together that missing tile to commemorate the huge achievement that is buying and renovating your home! And it is also a great conversation piece, I mean how many people you know that have personalized tiles? lol

    When storing pots with lids, I flipped the lip upside down so that the lid is still with the pot but allows for stacking. It really helped me save space in my cupboards!

    We had a similar situation in our kitchen with our flooring...my Dad suggested getting a plain tile cut to fit and painting it to make it a quirky little feature. I painted my dogs and son, and it's a sweet part of my kitchen that I love and makes me smile every day. Your kitchen is beautiful, and I'm very happy for you both.

      Where their dishwasher is they would basically stand in front of the cook top and then just turn and add the cutlery To the drawer on the other side of them very efficient.

    You could put a rectangular kitchen rug under the sink extending to the corner that is messed up to cover where the tile is missing

      Or one of those ergonomic comfort mats. They have a lot of integrity to their shape, so if it fit perfectly you'd never know the hole was there. Plus you'd have very comfy feet while doing dishes.

    You can technically use pots that have been used on gas on induction so long as they are still " flat" on the bottom. Induction works via contact, the whole bottom of the pan has to make contact with the induction plate for it to work. so test your pans first! :)

    I am so happy to see you so happy! Your excitement is contagious, I was watching you organize everything in your BEAUTIFUL, new kitchen, and remembering wayyyyy back, when my husband and I bought our first home, and I was just as excited about decorating and organizing everything, too. 😁 Today, my husband and I celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary, and I still find myself rearranging rooms and cabinets! As time goes by, you will find what works where, and make every room beautiful! Thank you so much for being so generous with your daily activities, and welcoming all of us into your new home. ☺️🥰

    I'm living vicariously through you now 😅 we have a mini kitchen corner with abhorrently low storage space (and zero creative storage solutions) so that half of our cooking stuff lives in another room and food storage happens in boxes stuffed out of sight... I hate this miserable kitchen so much that I'm all hype for any kitchen reno content. Yours is so beautiful! I think I'm going to look for a similar style once we buy a house. It's timeless and stylish but neutral and thanks to that lends itself to being styled in different ways by use of decorative accents. I love it ❤️

The glass door cabinets with glass shelves are great & when the lights go on it looks enchanting 😀On the pans, maybe turn the lids & you can stack an extra pan or 2 on top of each other 😀With the missing tile maybe hand make 1, that way you can get as close matching color as possible 😀Thanku so much for sharing 💙

    Hi! Just wanted to share a little tip regarding pots and induction stove tops. There are adapters for induction stoves that you put under your regular pots. They are quite inexpensive so it might be a quicker and less pricey solution than replacing all of your pots and pans :)

  • @Angelofnine
    @Angelofnine ปีที่แล้ว +18

    I have the exact same kitchen (in green!) with the same countertop. The wood is holding up really great except for the bit above the dishwasher. Because it gets hot every time the dishwasher runs, the wood has cracked. I try to be more diligent about oiling that bit of the counter and I suggest you do the same

    • @Loepsie
      @Loepsie  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks for the tip!

    • @aoifeinsane7466
      @aoifeinsane7466 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@Loepsie That is not caused by heat but by steam. It usually is enough to put a vapor barrier film along the underside of the wood where the opening of the dishwasher is. You can minimize that damage by completely opening the dishwater door after washcycle, instead of just tilting it a bit to air out.
      When the person who`s going to check your dishwasher is there, just ask them if they have a spare strip of vapor barrier film ( we usually have that in our cars when going to go install a kitchen (: )
      I hope you have many great dinnerparties and awesome dishes in your new kitchen

    • @rachela3066
      @rachela3066 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Much much better with glass doors nice! Honestly I recommend trying out cooking outdoors since your kitchen is right by backyard outside. Benefits of outside cooking, odors, oil and grease not damaging your walls ceiling wood and best thing of all using gas or wood/charcoal to get the flavor and getting the heat inductions stoves cant reach. I guess I say this because I dont like induction stoves lol. I just like that you have easy access to the kitchen to yard and if you end up not liking the stove.

    I'm not going to lie, I freaked out over your fridge size. I think American fridges and freezers are larger on average. Most of us have either a second fridge or a deep freezer in the garage, lol. The food hoarding is strong over here.
    I actually prefer the size of your home. It's cozy, but you still have space. Most of the new homes being built are like 3000 sq ft (at least) with 4-6 huge bedrooms and an open concept (with high ceilings if possible) for kitchen/dining/living rooms. It's overwhelming.
    I feel like more people are picking up victory gardening as a hobby (given the times). I'm not sure if you're into that.

    I love that you went dark with the ceiling in the bedroom. People think it will make a room look smaller, but when done well it can be quite the opposite, it can make the ceiling recede and make the room feel taller and more spacious, while still feeling cozy, as you said. Congrats on all your progress with the house! Gorgeous countertops in the kitchen, and what a transformation.

    • @flibbertygibbette
      @flibbertygibbette ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, you can totally use pans that have previously been used on gas stoves on induction cooktops. They need to be made of magnetized metal (stainless steel or iron) and if they are stainless steel, not have too much nickel content. Put a magnet on the bottoms of your pans to see if they will work. If it sticks, it should work. You *can* get all new induction-ready cookware, but there's no problem using your old stuff, just test it out to see how it works. If you're concerned about muck on the bottom of the pans damaging the surface, you can clean them. Barkeeper's Friend works, but if you don't want to use something with oxalic acid (or can't get it where you are in the Netherlands), you can use something like Bon Ami, or if you want a vegan product, baking soda mixed with a few drops of soap. Those alternatives will do the job but with a ton more elbow grease.

    That kitchen is really pretty, love the sink and countertop and you have so much space in the kitchen although it might be put in a tiny corner of the house! (I think you have almost more space than my parents and they have quite a big kitchen).
    Although definitely not really durable, the kitchen now without backsplash (maybe with a new paint coat) gives a really interesting vibe, like some old meditarranean house or something, although I understand it is not what you have envisioned. Luckily backsplashes are generally done after the kitchen is installed so that must be something that can be done easily by a contractor, that wall on the side though will be a bit more difficult I think, but contractors might have experience with that as well. I hope the kitchen will be finished soon!

    Lovely kitchen! Not excited about putting stuff away again when the contractor comes to put in the ceiling and the backsplash, heheh. I would suggest storing cups, glasses, drink-making appliances and drink materials as close to each other as possible, as that would make moving around in the space more efficient.
    I love your bedroom wall and ceiling treatment and i can‘t wait to see it completed.

    Hi Lucy; looks great! One small tip: in the bottom cabinets of your green closet, I would put all the bottles on the complete bottom. The kitchen towels etc are a lot lighter so I would put those on the floating shelf. You otherwise may run the risk that this wooden shelf will start to bend a bit under all that weight from the bottles. This happens particularly with older cabinets with lots of character ;-) enjoy the new kitchen!!

    Induction requires posts that are magnetic, it doesn't matter if they have been used on gas before as long as are magnetic.So you might be able to use your old pans

    Looking great! How exciting to have it all almost done. As you live with and use the kitchen you will figure out what works and what needs to change. For example, it might become an issue having the spices and cooking utensils below the stove, having to take a step back every time you need to use it, instead of just having it in the drawer to the right. Or it might work well with your workflow. Regarding the dish washer, i think its a spring that you adjust to find the right balance of push and pull. It should be in the instructions, or easily found online/or a youtube how to, for you to fix if its hard to get a hold of the installers.

    Lucy, try filling your freezer with bread (freezes amazingly well), in daily portion bags, so easy. You take one out night before and you have fresh bread in the morning. No, you do not taste that it has been frozen! Also, buy your produce, freeze half of what you use for next time (after it's been cleaned and sliced). Next time, just a pot of boiling water, dump them in, day saved. It is a great way to save produce that is about to go bad as well. And of course ice cream. Right? Right! ;)

    Lucy, I thought you couldn’t use all or any pans on induction cooktops too, although I didn’t know about previously using on gas, just that there was a problem with aluminium or copper bottomed pans, but I find I can use anything on my new induction cooktop without a problem. I couldn’t on my portable hot plate though so maybe brands differ.

    Woops we totally still use our pots and pans on our induction stove now, when we used them on gas in our last appartement.. Never heard about that before 🤔

    You're making it look like organizing is so pleasing and calm, but that's one of my biggest enemies haha I completly love the aesthetics of your entire house, you're making a great job on that. Enjoy your new kitchen! :D Hope you can show us some vegan recepies or cooking related videos in the future ✨

    How I would love to have an actual hood that vents outside in my kitchen 😂 American apt buildings love to install those microwave & fan combos that do nothing to actually expel fumes.

    Squeeeaaaaaaaallllllllllllll!!! I LOVE YOUR KITCHEN😍! What, oven/microwave?! Yes, please. Absolutely gorgeous; those shelves can hold more than you think, but I'm sure someone at Ikea can tell you exactly how much weight to ease your mind. I am so tickled for you and Robert! Take your time arranging those beautiful cabinets; you waited a long time to get them, so enjoy the process.

    I'm sure you can use pots that have been used on gas stoves, as long as the bottom is flat and stainless steel

    • @Loepsie
      @Loepsie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that's the problem I believe, once a pot has been in contact with fire the bottom is no longer completely flat. But we're going to test them all first for sure before we donate any!

    Kitchen is so cute! Just built a tiny house and my best advice is keep it super clean because one dirty thing being on the counters will make it look messy *cries*

    Won't the cutlery (forks, knives, etc) get too hot when you use the oven? I just wonder because I have a drawer under my oven too and anything that's THAT close to the it gets incredibly hot and I can't touch it. Maybe it's because my oven is old, yours might not transfer that much heat around it, but thought you might want to take this into consideration!!
