Shubunkins...really??? There is no accounting for some peoples taste in goldfish. 🤣 🤣 🤣 Seriously though, I have seen thousands of shubunkins in my many years of fish keeping and I have to say you have some of the nicest I have ever seen and many with amazing finnage. Here's hoping for a productive spawning for all of your breeding groups and some awesome offspring when all is said and done. 👍🏻
Awww thanks Ken. Picked a few from Vandermeers so very long ago and mixed a few with store bought.. 10 years later I have these. Hopefully the small ones go to where you are at or near the end of summer.
I didn't know a lot of things. That's how I started watching your channel. I do appreciate your kindness and your continued support, but most of all your friendship. Have a great weekend. You deserve it
Stay on your course and do your own thing. I'm currently working with 36 Bristol shubunkins all around 2 to 4 inches. Hoping to get lots of fry someday soon.

Getting some rain now, not alot but it's something and hope it comes your way. Great video and can't get over some of those colours, simply beautiful. Best of luck with the spawning and here's to a successful year 👊🍻
Amazing video Chris! You certainly do have some beautiful shubunkins there mate! Your ponds look stunning! I could sit by them and watch them all day long!. Gotta love playing boats when you can while your young lol. I hope you have alot of success with all your breeing mate. Thanks for sharing mate 😄
Thanks Arnold. Yeah the little ones do like playing in the water seem like a shame to put the fish in but it had to be done. I'm glad you like them. Thanks my friend
They're beautiful and I can see why you like them so much, especially yours! Interesting how the amount of sunlight affects their spawning. Thanks for the update and I hope you have lots of success breeding them this summer! Have a nice weekend, Chris 🙂👍
great video Chris, beautiful weather, kids really enjoyed playing in the pond, good luck my friend in your breeding I know that you are truly a master in breeding Shubunkin Goldfish, like 74
Unfortunately the weather is not cooperating. It's damp and cool now. I'm hoping for some heat and then a rain so they'll breed even if I get the heat and then I'll just do a water change and that'll bring them on
Hi Chris! The summer activities are starting with the selection of your Shubunkins, now it's the hot time to start the breedings and fill the barrels with the new little ones. Your little nephew enjoys the small pond. Good weekend.
Yours are pretty safe down there, but it is nice to look at them over the winter so I can see why you'd want to bring a few in. But you have a beautiful tank set up anyway so but I definitely get it. I would be bringing a couple in
Thanks so much! I am hoping I get there but if not oh well. I tried and that's the main thing. Hope you're doing okay and not getting too much of the smoke from up this way
Love love, love them thanks so much for sharing yours more. They are one of the prettiest that’s for sure especially because they swim slow a lot of other goldfish don’t
Your shabumkins are always so gorgeous! I hope one day we will figure out how to get some to me, lol. Maybe they'll invent teleportation soon 😂 hope yall are doing great, buddy!
Chris how large do you reckon the the smaller fish will be by the end of the season? And with the spawning mops do you take them inside to hatch? I was trying to pay close attention but the sound of the water is mesmerizing 😊and relaxation kicks in , enjoyed this very much🙂👍🏻 also… the wildfires how far from you?? I hope a long ways away stay safe🙏
Thanks for watching my friend. They hatch and are raised outside with live foods. The shubunkin goldfish I put out are very small as they were very small when I had to bring them in .. I am hoping they will be 2-3 maybe 4 inches near the end of the summer....but I am really hoping
Well top vidio as normal pal guess what yesterday Mrs fishkeeper has announced that she what's a pond with fish in the garden 😮😮 will need some tips soon builder starts next week lol
I actually think they're more and more people that are starting to like the blue ones. I have got several newer ones that have bred and raised. I think I've got the blue down. I just want to mix it well with some more red white and black and to get real distinct patterns but everyone has their own taste right? Thanks, I really appreciate it, especially if you're coming from another goldfish fan
I love these fish! We have some that are several years old. One of them has a large bump developing on its side. Is there anything I can do to help it? None of the others have any obvious problems
It would be easier if I saw it to tell Some goldfish get benign tumors that can even fall off , some are not benign. As long as you fish is eating and swimming ok just enjoy him. Ty so much for watching and commenting
Hi i have a question. I have 2 shubunkins, they are currently in a 200L tank and i know they will outgrow it soon. I know a guy selling a larger tank but he has 2 loaches that come with the tank. Can loaches live with shubunkins. Also i know the shubunkins will probably need a pond at some stage and i do plan on getting a pond but for now a larger tank is what im going with. Any advice is appreciated!
Hi Kitty What filtration are you going to use. Ideally you want a 400 l tank if possible. I currently house 4 large Shubunkin in that sized tank plus 2 juvenile shubunkin. I have lots of filtration and sponge filters. I move these fish to a pond in the summer. What type of loaches... Most loaches are ok but some will go after long fins. There are several ways. Generally, females are less colorful but not always. They're generally more rounded than the males. Males will often have breeding bumps.
