@@D0VEGUM negging is a thing used by pick up artists where you give the one you are trying to pick up lots of compliments which our actually insults to break down their self-esteem. In my example someone tried this on White Diamond and she responded by negging their negging abilities.

I believe that White diamond was created with the planet when that solar system was formed, as white grew she learned her unique powers and found out she had 3 lights that made her. Which was Yellow Cyan Magenta which makes White. She possibly used those lights in her gem to create the other diamonds and also use her advanced technology in the gems she made and gave them a purpose and use the lights to create the diamond. Then those diamonds started making other gems while she was giving them a purpose The pink flaw was just a sign that she was connecting with pink, the same thing would happen with other diamonds too
White Diamond is one of my favourite characters in SU and SUF. Really wish we got to see more of the Diamonds, ideally after the movie or even before with OG Pink, as I have a theory that Pink was exaggerating how bad they were since that’s what kids do a lot 😱
Unpopular opinion: I love White diamonds Reason why: I’m into villains and the more evil they are the more they my favorite. White diamond give me old time mother vibe. She like the mother who trauma her kids and mind control her children this cause her children more like her . White diamond also give me the vibe of the mother of TANGLED . Both showing love to they “ children “ to make them do what they want and hurt people who get in the way . Analysis of white: white is the first diamond that we hear so she want to look perfect to show she can handle everything. It’s like a mother that have to be perfect for they kids but by doing that they traumatized them. White also that villain who work her high point. She work hard to show that she more powerful then everyone . Real life white diamond is a rare thing to get and you mostly get it for your love ones. So it’s amazing seeing the she abuse you mentally by showing you love so you won’t fight back when she ask you for something This is all my opinion.
It’s not because emotions that she thought was inferior she throughly she was flawed because she thought she was right about pink diamond was still here like pearl did when they were hanging out with baby Steven but like pink Steven said “SHE’S GONE!!!” when white found out she wasn’t right and was roasted by Steven after she threw a tantrum
I don’t know if it’s fair to call White a narcissist. After Pink Steven brought her to her knees (literally), she admitted she was wrong, and her response to seeing Centipeedle was pure empathy. She had simply learned to distance bottle her emotions, not horribly uncommon after an emotional loss (Pink). Steven’s breakthrough put an end to that behavior.
@@nevaehhamilton3493 That could be due to her atelophobia and the fact that she lives in her own head (both figuratively and literally). Because of her fears of imperfection, she does everything in her power to have everyone and everything conform to a strict and proper standard of being. To her, she desires everything to be stable, rational, beautiful, and flawless. This in turn has her believe such methods as being correct, thus making her believe her ideas and decisions are solely the correct way. This is why she doesn't believe in the identity of others. And it's not because she believes every gem is an extension of herself persay, but moreso the standards of perfection she places upon herself. It's why she doesn't believe she has an identity of her own outside of those standards, and why she'd ignore or overrule anyone who doesn't meet them. In terms of her having a narcissistic personality disorder though, you're not wrong, she has those traits. From what I could gather though, narcissism isn't very simple, it's actually rather complicated. Most people who have it aren't always malicious. Their actions might say otherwise, but they geniunely believe they're doing or saying the right thing. White Diamond isn't doing what she's doing because she wants to hurt people, but moreso because she geniunely believes she's helping others. The traits that apply to her seeming arrogant largely stems from what I mentioned earlier in the first paragraph about her sense of perfection, especially when it comes to portraying herself that way. In addition, the manner in which she talks down to others could be due to her perceiving them as not knowing any better, and so she has to be the one to "correct" them.
@@2gredvisions8560 I see your point, but what Steven Universe has taught me is that the feelings of the victims matter more than the perpetrators, as seen in Volleyball. To me, it unintentionally sends a bad message about hating the ones who hurt you, even though no one said to actually do that.
@@nevaehhamilton3493 Don't worry, I get that 😅. I was mostly trying to clarify why White is the way that she is and why she's considered narcissistic. In terms of what you mentioned of the theme, Steven Universe is all about feeling for the victims of whatever abuse is brought onto them. Obviously the point is to resolve/ fix such matters so that they could be amended, and have those people responsible to be held accountable. In terms of White Diamond, the point of even meeting her for Steven is to have her fix what she and the other Diamonds had done to the corrupted Gems found on Earth. Many Gems experienced lots of bad things because of White Diamond's standards, so it was best for Steven to have White Diamond break (mentally speaking) so that things could change for the better. In SUF, the Diamonds are even shown continuing with fixing all their wrongdoings, which is obviously going to take a long time to do. It's probably too late for Pink to atone for her actions given that she gave up her existence to have Steven. But it's likely she would've been the most willing to ammend her mistakes due to the lessons she's learned while spending time on Earth, especially after the Gem War. Aside from her not wanting to return back to her life as a Diamond, due to how delicate and dangerous the remaining Crystal Gem's position was after the war, it was probably impossible for her to fix the things she's done to both Volleyball and Spinel. My best guess as to why no Gem has gone out of their way to air out their grievances toward the Diamonds could be do to them not knowing how to. This of course could be mostly attributed to how Homeworld culture was like, as the concepts of morality that's customary on Earth isn't entirely understood by Gems. Plus, they've always viewed the Diamonds as something akin to dieties, which is why it's probably new for them to hold them accountable for their actions. Just look at how Peridot felt and reacted after incredibly talking back to Yellow 😂. The reason why Gems even found the incentive to rebel against the Diamonds back during the Gem War was mostly due to Pink as Rose Quartz inspiring and encouraging them to do so.
Once you get to Pink Diamond, keep in mind the IRL source of pink coloring in a diamond. Pink is NOT caused by inclusions, but rather, molecular voids resulting from defects in the diamond's crystal lattice. Now, White said the source of her control was the removal of impurities, yet, her aura ray was completely unable to reach Pink Steven. That would make sense if Pink Diamond had no impurities to remove. This may also be a metaphor for one of the show's most important morals: LGBT people are fine just as they are; they don't need to be fixed.
Unpopular opinion: The crew had a fabulous character, someone who could be a real threat. Someone who could possibly be used to show that some people can’t change. That the only way is to fight. But no! Instead the redeem her in one episode, then she was defeated by becoming pink? What an idea.
Because if I recall correctly, at around 5750 years (according to Ruby and Sapphire's wedding at Reunited), thats when they started being together. I believe the war was going on, (when Pearl tried to shatter Sapphire)
I adore the way Rebecca and the crewniverse has handled the diamonds as villains, it’s so easy and only seems to get easier to just classify someone as just plain evil even when we consciously know it’s more complicated than that. Just look at how quickly some people in our celebrity culture get put into the good or evil category without much thought. Remember that period of time when people felt justified in harassing Britney Spears into mental breakdowns because she was an “out of touch overly sexualized druggie alchoholic pop star”? Or how about reconciling people who have done gods awful things like Jim Jones and how before the cult he was known as someone who fought passionately for civil rights. Or John Wayne Gacy who loved to entertain children dressed as a clown. These things by far do not make up for the horrible things they did, but it does remind you how people are complicated and often not as one demential as let’s say, our picture of Stalin. Heck, there’s still a lot of people arguing whether or not Rasputin was evil or just a guy who got the short end of the stick. A lot of people like to compare the shows philosophy with the comic making fun of it with Hitler and Steven saying, “it’s ok, he says he’s sorry”. Which aside from being reductionist to the whole show and is an easy strawman for bad faith criticisms, is under valued. I sadly always forget his name, but there was a famous black jazz musician who collected KKK hoods, of members he basically convinced to resign, including high wizards. He did this by just having a drink and talking with them, often finding they had no personal experience with black people so they got a whole lot of misinformation. He was highly successful at this. And sadly, we’re seeing this still and it being hard still with people doubling down on negative traits because they’re afraid of things like, being ostracized by their friends and family, hurting their own self image and perception, being taken advantage of, being left behind by the system or ever changing times, etc. Rebecca said that the message she hoped people took from the movie was “that it’s ok to be a work in progress” and I hope by the time I’m 80, that will have stuck.
I'm not sure if she's the strongest diamon though. pink diamond's sheild can block any attack, no matter how powerful, rose's sword can instantly poof any gem, and pink can easily heal almost anything.
Clarification is that Diamonds aren't and have never been rare the brewer brothers bought up rights to pretty much all diamonds and control how much are given to jewlers.
I'm really hoping you guys do two seperate videos for Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz!!! or one video with half focusing on pink and half focusing on rose :-)
Does anyone find it interesting how even White has a soft spot for Pink? Like, just WHY? I get that Pink is a very fun and adorable characters I imagine, especially in her younger years, but why does all the Diamonds adore her so much, even White Diamond, to the point that Yellow even gets slightly bitter about it? Pink/Steven was the only one she allowed in her Head upon coming to Homeworld, she didn't immediately use her mind powers on Pink/Steven, and she even has a pet name for Pink/Steven.
Surprisingly colored diamonds are significantly more valuable than white or colorless ones; as you mentioned value on white diamonds is pushed from companies, not actual rarity. Almost every other color is rarer. Red diamond is the most valuable and less than 50 exist, every discovered red diamond on earth could be held in one hand. That’s how few there are. If the diamond authority was ranked by rarity pink or blue would be at the top!

I haven't seen anything past Change Your Mind, so I always assumed that White had a creator since she said "I'm supposed to be perfect" like it was her life's purpose
Sneople, I guess (there's a legit reason why that could actually be the case). They never touched on the origin of gems nor those of the Great Diamond Authority. Would be interesting to know more about that.
I think it's a testament to the writers skill that I never watched the show beyond clips and reviews yet the second I saw her I instantly knew "abusive mom".
I don't really think people should have empathy or ally with White Diamond. I knew someone who was just like her. These personality types make you feel less than human, like you're not a person worthy of respect and humanity. Dogs get more respect than you do. At first, characters like White Diamond seem tragic, but at some point the story gets old. They never really change...
While that is true, that doesn't mean people who have WD's problem can't be treated. People with NPD can't be cured from it obviously, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to have them better adapt with interacting with others. Or giving them some better clarity. However, they of course have to be willing to cooperate with such treatment, as it isn't an easy thing to do. Most often think they don't need treatment, which is usually the problem. Not sure how successful it is, but that's as far as I know about the issue 😅.
Ya know, at first i hated the idea that white was so bland and stevens way of defeating her was rushed and out of nowhere. But, after moving out and discovering my mother started losing her cool when i wasnt under her roof and doing what she wanted, i was like OOOOHHHHH. NOW I GET IT! White is narcissistic and believes she knows best above all us and when called out on her shit or her flaws are pointed out she cant handle it and has horrid outbursts. Which is why everyone is probably terrified of her. Shes has all this power and is highly unpredictable.
If white diamond radiated her power to control gems and make them perfect why didn’t she unfuse Garnet or did she want to focus on (nice scolding pink) wtw
Yeah, I think one of the first things she would have done is unfuse Ruby and Sapphire and maybe change the groups' Crystal Gems attires to something she deems more Homeworld appropiate, maybe even making Amethyst taller in the process. It's like Yellow, Blue and the rest of Gem society were more concerned with that than the actual figure from whom those beliefs stemed from.
Something intriguing is that white diamond knows what a child is, despite her apparently being on homeworld for eons, how would she even know what a child is? Unless shes had experience with biological life or she was watching a biological species for some reason?
Masters Candidate in Clinical Mental Health here, and....I actually don't have anything to add on narcissism 😅 But here is a comment anyway! Love your videos!
Makes sense that Pink and White would clash and be at eternal needs with one another - White has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, while Pink has Borderline Personality Disorder. They’re very much like polar opposites in terms of personality disorders.
Then I have Atelophobia, because when I have a minor imperfection [not funny to friends, not successful enough for my family (I’m 15 years old), and not being cool so people ignore me, because they do] I get scared that I might not be enough for anyone, and I might have depression, so yeah, I think I have depression I needed to get it off my chest because I never tell anyone about this
AKA: Yertle the Turtle’s...uh...Current pet owner! Current, wether or not Steven had made White Diamond turn over a new leaf (It wasn’t as wierd to call the other two Diamonds Golden Frieza and Emperor Palpatine’s ex-wives).
In suf people seem to think pink white diamond is a fusion between jasper and white because of wierd lines on whites torso but if you pause at a certain moment you can tell she always had them
She seems to be made in the image of the Greek Primordial Phanes (a.k.a Eros, Protogonus, Nous, Logos, the Demiurge, ect...) That's why she is pure white light and why she's seemingly able to read other gems' minds and take control of them. Not to mention that she may very well be the progenitor of all other gems making her the first gem as well as the architect of gem society. That's why she has Hellenistic influence in her design and why she believed that she's all of the gems and all of the gems are her.
White isn’t the most powerful diamond, Pink is. Pink/Rose was capable of stoping the corrupting light attack from the other three diamonds just by herself, and also the beam of light that white attacked her with at the one of season 5, something not even the other diamonds could do. Moreover, she’s the diamond with more powers, such as healing powers, the bubble, the shield, the bubbles on her hands to fight, the pink shields she can use to trap others, the pink dome, the destroying scream, the ability to sprint so fast that the rest of the world goes slower, she could float... And don’t forget her fighting abilities with the sword. The other diamonds only have two or three.
Well, Pink only has all of these abilities because her son is the protagonist of the show, but that doesn't mean the other diamonds don't have other powers. We had see Pink in her full potential, but we never saw the other diamonds at their full level

Which was Yellow Cyan Magenta which makes White. White Diamond is one of my favourite characters in SU and SUF. Really wish we got to see more of the Diamonds, ideally after the movie or even before with OG Pink, as I have a theory that Pink was exaggerating how bad they were since that’s what kids do a lot 😱
When white mind controls other gem it’s called bleaching which takes color from gems
Even though she doesn't mind control people anymore, White Diamond still don't play
So WD is a big time executive officer at a Fortune 500 company who doesn’t have time for her yellow, blue or pink children confirmed
Unpopular opinion: I love White diamonds
Reason why: I’m into villains and the more evil they are the more they my favorite.
So it’s amazing seeing the she abuse you mentally by showing you love so you won’t fight back when she ask you for something
This is all my opinion.
I share this same opinion.
White mentallly shut down after Pinks so called shattering, makes sense
Psych2Go explains narcissism better than I can, but long story short, White Diamond shows ALL THE SIGNS of narcissism.
I filmed this last week and talk about the molecules! ^This is a great take on it!!!

Good analysis of White! Got to know a lot more about her.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Not to mention that she may very well be the progenitor of all other gems making her the first gem as well as the architect of gem society. That's why she has Hellenistic influence in her design and why she believed that she's all of the gems and all of the gems are her.
when you, the literal ultimate boss, got redeemed in 6 minutes while the green pizza had like 6 months(I think)
White is the most powerful, she can literally mind control pink and the fight would be over.
