Well, to a certain extent. I wouldn't put it pass Pink to contemplate if it's genuine "love" given that Spinel was created to be a playmate. Which can be shown with her automatically imprinting to Steven as his "best friend" after resetting.
I think Spinel is like the first gem to ever say "You can't just make everything better by singing SOME. STUPID. SONG!!". It shows how Spinel is actually quite messed up lolol. That's part of the reason why I like her so much, she was actually brave enough to scream it at Steven's face
Same. She isn't a sugercoated loser that just listens to Steven and turns good instantly when she encounters him. Spinel straight up shits on Steven's way of redeeming gems by basically saying "fuck you" to him.
Yeah though I wish instead of finally joining him she just escaped to space with the possibility of changing. Also side note I think yellow and blue diamond could change and it’s believable but I think white diamond should have been bubbled or even shattered which would have given Steven some more depth.

Dude bad is bad. When I said, she always knew she was bad I meant she knew she screwed up in her past. I'm not excusing anything. I'm just saying that the Diamonds all started out as abusive and became less so when they realized their mistakes. But it's the hardest for them because they were literally made to be superior to all gems. You use White to say she's good now, but she, Blue, and Yellow are all still learning just as Pink had to. It's not overnight. It's going to take them a while to be better. I'll bet you a million dollars that they'll screw something up with Spinel and Steven's gonna have to fix that too.

@Focux I personally still managed to enjoy what was shown throughout the show and the movie, but I think that the writers needed to sit down one day and agree in what to tell, how to tell it, and when to tell it.
@Focux pretty sure they were self aware, it's not the first time. Remember that episode where Ronaldo wanted to be a crystal gem? That was clear mockery, either that or when I saw it I wanted to give extra kudos to the show. If I have to be honest, I don't think the show is ill intended, and I truly want to believe they want to come along with good messages. It's just sometimes you really feel how the show was made for a specific kind of people by that exact same specific kind of people. I talk about SJW's or "the new goths" as I like to call them, and it's really ironic, at least to me, how this show tries to teach self betterment (check out how I say "tries") to a demographic that doesn't seem to want to improve themselves. And even with that strong opinion I choose to like the show, I think it's good with the aesthetics and talking about emotions, despite the narrative.

the only problem i found with the relation between spinel and the diamonds is that, wouldn't they ignore spinel every time steven visits them? that would really quickly lead to spinel thinking that she is just a temporary fix to the diamonds ambition of spending time with steven and thus making spinel collapse again. ps: that would make for a great movie two if also another gem convinced spinel and others to thinks the worst of themselves thus making them their worst version.

My favorite detail: When Spinel is her "Default Self", she has Mickey Mouse style pigtails. BUT, when she turns into her villain self, her pigtails are longer. Like rabbit ears. Like Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, the forgotten Walt Disney icon and toon.
It's hella depressing when you realize throughout the entire show, Spinel was still in space. Waiting in the Garden like Pink told her, waiting for 6000 years, and just waiting for Pink. Only to realize she was left behind, waiting and waiting for her best friend to never come back. Now that's a thought to keep when you rewatch the series.
While reading this comment, I realized something. We know Rose was a Diamond, right? And that every gem must follow her orders, whether they know she is a diamond or not, right? Well, when Steven made the announcement and had spinel find out about pink's death, spinel then went against pink's orders. She moved from her spot even when pink didn't come back. She went against the order of a diamond, HER diamond. You'll be in charge of the conclusion.
I didn't really buy into that whole gem healing thing until somewhat recently. I bought a necklace with a lapis lazuli pendant mostly because I just like Lapis the SU character and I noticed soon after that I had become more intuitive, articulate and creative so on a lark I looked up the properties of lapis and it is said to help with mental clarity and creativity. On a side note I previously bought a rose quartz pendant because the seller told me it would help with my abysmal love life and I (at the time) liked the SU character so I figured why not? But given what we now know of her I'm thinking of getting rid of it.

I also learned that lapis is associated with nobility (specifically French) and I'm 1/4 French with connections to a knight who fought in the service of William The Conqueror.

Yeah, and like a child they need attention 24/7. Something I know Steven is not able to give, but the Diamonds seems very willing to give Spinel that kind of attention that Steven doesn't want. Which I understand being around people like that can be a little suffocating, smothering, and just plain exhausting. Then again I'm an introvert so being around too many people for long periods of time can be exhausting to me. In the end Steven would probably only get irritated if Spinel was hanging around him way to much. I think the Diamonds would be able to handle her energy a lot better than Steven. It's terrible that Pink just left her there in that garden for freaking 6,000 absolutely no thought about Spinel whatsoever 😩!

I think Spinel's adoption is a positive, and my primary reason is how the diamonds interacted with the story of the movie. Their song largely begins and ends the story, and the difference in context between those two instances is the key in my opinion. In the first singing, they are directing their message to Steven, and it's not a good fit. The diamonds need someone to help them process their lingering grief, someone that will help them grow from their broken family square, one point of which will never return, and find a new dynamic that they can found their identities on, a healthier dynamic. Steven is the literal remains of Pink, but he's also his own person, with his own established formation of relationships, a series of connections just like the diamonds once had, that doesn't include them. That emotional unavailability is the main reason that they could never find a new equilibrium with him. Spinel, on the other hand, resembles Pink in many ways, but lacks any connections to speak of. She is alone and adrift, and though the movie spends most of the runtime exploring how terrible that was, the tragedy of her tieless existence, the ending reveals that it has also made her the missing piece of the diamonds' puzzle. This is symbolized by the diamonds' song the second time around. Every lyric that was negative for Steven and his situation is positive for Spinel's, implying that she is the person they needed, and they the home that she did.
Yeah, he should've made sure to reassure her that everything was fine and that she was included and cared for. While spouting all that afterwards about fixing garnet he could've dropped an offhanded "Wanna help?" And that would've made all the difference. I mean the way she was phrasing things like, "Was that all you wanted from me" he should've picked up on the blatant insecurity and been like, "no-no-no, I did need you to do that, but I still wanna spend some time with you. I have to fix Garnet, but there's no reason you can't hang out with us while I do that and even help."

Was she some sort of toy creature? I don't understand yet if they really got her only as a toy or how they treated her in the first place, but I like Spinel.
I was diagnosed with bpd 6 years ago and she is the perfect embodiment and I'm honestly happy to finally have a character that really speaks to me and shows my friends that I'm not a bad person I just have gone through some bad things. I adore this character more than I can even say and I never thought even once that I actually like her as much as I like Lapis. I don't think Blues Powers would affect me because I have gone through way worse and came out strong on the other end and that's what spinel will do and I'm sure of it.
I think it's actually pretty good for Spinel to be with the other diamonds. After knowing that Pink is truly gone, they need to find some way of coping and reinventing themselves. If they adopt Spinel, then they have a chance at doing it right this time around. Plus, with Spinel being on homeworld, she won't be alone anymore. Even if things don't work out with the diamonds, she can find someone there who loves and appreciates her.
In that sense, I think it will be a great idea if she gets to meet Pink Pearl, who's also coming from years of abuse (being basically brainwashed and used as a puppet, and lets not even mention her gone eye). I think it will be good for both to meet each other, as how Lapis and Peridot were good to each other's healing process. We still haven't been shown how pink pearl ended up with a shatered eye, so there's plenty of space to develop story-wise. OH , also don't forget WE ALSO HAVE THE PEBBLES!
I agree. Pink Diamond had a particular personality, and with her gone, it throws off the group dynamic. They don't expect Spinel to be exactly like her, but they also yearn for someone who is light-hearted and fun. I don't see it as codependency; I see it as sorta finding a missing piece. It's a bit like how people in our lives can come and go. Like, I had a friend who got me into manga/comics, but she also put me down every time I tried drawing my own stuff. I stopped spending time with her and searched for others who liked comics/manga and that DIDN'T put me down when I tried drawing my own stuff.
What Steven Universe is amazing and unique at - This might not be the ideal solution. But it's good, at least for now. Both Diamonds and Spinel need to deal with Pink being gone for ever. It's like creating a support group. Also, I love that they didn't force Spinel on Steven. She is NOT his responsibility. They don't HAVE to be friends just because he is the protagonist. He helped her and they are in good terms and that's enough.
A lot of people don’t seem to like that spinel was “dumped off with the diamonds” as if she was Stevens responsibility only.... to me she seemed way happier going with the diamonds. It’s not like she went there against her will

I don't think going with the Diamonds was the right move. I was kind of expecting Spinel to join Lapis, Bismuth, and Peridot in Little Homeworld so she could be surrounded by other damaged gems and make friends organically. Especially since Peridot, Lapis, and Bismuth all talked about how they also tried to kill Steven. Mostly because really liked Spinel and wanted to see more of her in S6.
That would've been nice and I hope to see Spinel in S6 anyways but I thought it was a fitting ending as both groups now have a way to cope and grow into a family. Spinel staying in that form instead of changing back shows how she won't be as gullible and vulnerable anymore. When they are singing at the end both groups gave their consent. Spinel was also excited, that's what she wanted the song says how she found the one and how they may not be Pink but they remind her of Pink and they understand what it meant to love her, the same goes for the diamonds.

My guess is that she probably yoinked them from decommissioned Gem military bases, given that she had access to a secure warp pad previously only usable by Pink Diamond. She'd be able to walk in and out of all manner of otherwise off-limits facilities that way.
Another thing some may have not noticed : Spinel self harms. In the song "Change" (or whatever it's called) she punches herself on the had while pulling her hair. That's self harm. When I was reminded of my bad memories or tried to not feel sad I used to do that. (punch myself;pull my hair;scratch myself) I thankfully stopped with the help of my friends and family. You know,... because it seems that she somehow changed her appearence/form from the lovely, wubby dubby form to her recent one with messy hair and her run down "make up", to complete her appearence as someone who suffers from depression

I definitely thought to myself while Spinel and the Diamonds were singing their song that the whole "You're not her, but you were hers/the closest thing we have to her" was a terrible basis for a new relationship.
That is true but both groups gave consent and now they have a way to cope with what was missing to them. Like I saw someone else write, since the last episode of S5 something felt missing. The diamonds didn't really have someone to fill their gap and have the same thing as the Crystal gems have but now Spinel and the diamonds will have each other and I believe that both groups will remember their interactions with Steven and it won't be a fragile relationship. Threewag the Penguin I almost forgot- they HAVE learned a lot from Steven, about themselves and about gems, and not to ignore them. (They know the outcome of that- with what happened with pink lmao) So thinking about that- I’m hoping spinel won’t be ignored/abandoned again, when the diamonds get busy with running colonies etc, and they’ll be more careful, and treat her with kindness , (they did say she’s their closest thing to PD, so I doubt they’ll hurt her. Well. For now) But maybe spinel doesn’t mind she is be used to fill a gap.for now at least She probably just wants to heal, feel loved and make people laugh again. When she becomes more independent she might come back to the crystal gems- but I’m not sure I think it was a good decision for how both parties felt at the time, they needed each other. But- it could change when she starts to learn more things about herself. Or develop other hobbies, Cause well- All she’s ever known is the PD, her use as a gem, and being hurt. It’s sad. She’ll probably want to return to earth, to thank Steven when she’s learned more about friendship. And she can properly apologise Hey, even her and pearl can gossip about pink Anyways- those were just my opinions But I really like Spinel! :> She’s op! yeah that line was simple but heavy, showing how despite accepting that Pink was a not so great person Steven is still hurt sometimes by the fact that his mom did some terrible things

Spinel's Gem form, and character alteration reminds me alot of the Tarot Card, Chariot. Normally The card carries meaning of Postive Energy, to overcome all conflict with sheer willpower and determination in order to reach their goal. But Chariot Card carries a unique trait for when the card flips, "The Chariot", carries a new meaning. "Reversed Chariot" loses all sense of direction for what their purpose in life was, and goes as far to becomes heavily influenced with self Doubt.

If I was in Steven's position, even after she tried to kill me, I still would have told her I didn't want her to leave and that it doesn't matter what she did in the past because I'd love her for who she is now.
Don't be too mad at Pink. She had no choice but to give up Spinel because White must've told her that if Pink Diamond wants a colony that badly, she had to give up everything that made her "childish" & "immature." And since Pink must've seen what had happened to her original Pink Pearl, she didn't want Spinel to suffer the same way. Pink didn't want to say it out loud that she had to give her up, so she covered it with a game that never ended without breaking her heart (literally and figuratively), like trying to say good-bye to a pet that loves you deeply but don't understand what's going on.
So there needs to be a Toy Story 5 where Jessie finds Emily again as an adult and suddenly snaps, trying to exact revenge by scaring her and her kids with living toys and the others have to stop her and tell her it’s WRONG. :u lol
No matter what, the creepiest part of the movie is when Yellow Diamond starts laughing, it was completely terrifying. I'm used to her being a Military Leader, mean, angry, and commanding. When she laughed, I was scared.

She also showed herself capable of taking down the Crystal gems almost barehanded, I don't see her having much trouble nicking some homeworld tech, especially with the social structure of HW being built from the ground up after S5
Xavier Jones at the beginning when she’s first introduced I thought it might be a stylistic choice. I’ve also never seen the gem stone Spinel in person so I was thinking maybe the gem has some black in it since her top is also black. During her second song tho when she morphs back into her current self, it’s made clear that they’re tear tracks. I really liked that.
I mean, look at spinel and the diamonds. Spinel is a gem that was abandonned by her "mother" or "best friend" And the diamonds are some "mothers" who lost a "child" I find it that spinel goes with the diamonds kinda poetic. I don't think the diamonds will make her be just an entertainer. Since spinel reminds them much of Pink, I believe they will take good care of her!

I think people forget the fact that was pink Diamond BEFORE she saw Earth - it's perfectly reasonable she was just as careless as the other diamonds have been until that moment she saw life on Earth and had her change of heart.
See I disagree. I think it’s worse than that. I don’t think she saw Spinel as beneath her, more so that she didn’t think she EXISTED past her. Pink thought that without her, spinel literally was nothing. Clearly she never thought about her past that.

Spinel going with the diamonds was not an act of co-dependance. Everyone belongs somewhere. She saw where steven belong as everyone rush to hug him and ensure he was okay. "Just let us adore you" was such a beautiful way to send her off. By defining stevens support as not codependent and spinels as, due to her behavior, is perpetuating a crummy stigma. Spinel DESERVES that love and adoration. And likely, when she has that love she will grow self confident and self assured. Those symptoms will subside. As someone misdiagnosed as BPD for years, i can say that watching spinel immediately has me pin her down as living with BPD. And watching Stevens patience and love was wonderful. When it comes to trauma based healing, people need to remember that the healing comes from relying in the people who love you and learning to trust and love them. You cant do that alone. So, no - definitely was not a co-dependant move.
I think the homeworld has a ton of unlearning to do as we see in the beginning and end but I think Steven is going to pop by for visits (hey, Thanksgiving) and do what he can while maintaining his sanity and life. I think eventually the gem empire will suffer an exodus and small collapse because many people will get a bit crazy and not want to hang around an emotionally toxic environment anymore, and maybe Spinel will grow beyond her need to constantly appease someone, but for now that's more home to her than anywhere and she knows how to operate in that environment at least.
I dont.... really think they *Love* her though. They remembered her as basically Pinks old pet. Theyre constantly desperate for something of Pink's to stay with them (as they told Steven in the beginning). I think they really just love the *idea* of her and that can be REALLY detrimental to spinel. This conclusion seems to quick, too... convenient? As someone with BPD this has definitely reminded me of some past bad relationships i had where I was with someone only because he showed interest in me because he was lonely. I also felt lonely and as we went on, it became toxic from both our ends. I cant IMAGINE the diamons wouldnt talk about Pink DIamond to Spinel, constantly compare her, hell I think Spinel would probably have her old room. Another thing people with bpd suffer with is identity, and oh boy Spinel is most likely gonna feel that too. I just really dont see this being a good thing in the long run.
The diamonds clearly havent changed, spinel will totally get the same feeling again when the diamonds will unintentionally treat her as they treated pink diamond, so spinel will in fact become maybe, as miserable as pink diamond was, so i expect spinel to be a pretty nice "unbendable" villain with a very unusual solution in the show
@@draoswaargbaal7598 It's possible that the Diamonds learned from losing Pink, seeing how anxious they are to make Steven happy and dote on him. They might really cherish Spinel as a reminder of Pink. But in time they might get too comfortable and slip back into old habits....
My favorite part to Spinel's character is that she didn't require a song to make her a better person. She needed a song to make her start rethinking her situation. After Steven finishes singing, she starts thinking back on how she came to where she is. Every time she started out good, both in the beginning and after being reset, she ends up at villainy due to her being treated as a low priority compared to everything else. She then turns that anger onto herself, on how she wasn't good enough for Pink Diamond, and that is making her not be good at all...then it finally clicks. Steven really isn't Pink Diamond, not as a person. He DID find her entertaining when she was nice and afterwards, he DID like her when they could be friendly. He just knew the Crystal Gems longer. @Focux I personally still managed to enjoy what was shown throughout the show and the movie, but I think that the writers needed to sit down one day and agree in what to tell, how to tell it, and when to tell it.
@Focux pretty sure they were self aware, it's not the first time. Remember that episode where Ronaldo wanted to be a crystal gem? That was clear mockery, either that or when I saw it I wanted to give extra kudos to the show.
If I have to be honest, I don't think the show is ill intended, and I truly want to believe they want to come along with good messages.
It's just sometimes you really feel how the show was made for a specific kind of people by that exact same specific kind of people. I talk about SJW's or "the new goths" as I like to call them, and it's really ironic, at least to me, how this show tries to teach self betterment (check out how I say "tries") to a demographic that doesn't seem to want to improve themselves.
And even with that strong opinion I choose to like the show, I think it's good with the aesthetics and talking about emotions, despite the narrative.

the only problem i found with the relation between spinel and the diamonds is that, wouldn't they ignore spinel every time steven visits them? that would really quickly lead to spinel thinking that she is just a temporary fix to the diamonds ambition of spending time with steven and thus making spinel collapse again.
ps: that would make for a great movie two if also another gem convinced spinel and others to thinks the worst of themselves thus making them their worst version.

I didn't really buy into that whole gem healing thing until somewhat recently. I bought a necklace with a lapis lazuli pendant mostly because I just like Lapis the SU character and I noticed soon after that I had become more intuitive, articulate and creative so on a lark I looked up the properties of lapis and it is said to help with mental clarity and creativity. On a side note I previously bought a rose quartz pendant because the seller told me it would help with my abysmal love life and I (at the time) liked the SU character so I figured why not? But given what we now know of her I'm thinking of getting rid of it.

I think Spinel's adoption is a positive, and my primary reason is how the diamonds interacted with the story of the movie. Their song largely begins and ends the story, and the difference in context between those two instances is the key in my opinion. In the first singing, they are directing their message to Steven, and it's not a good fit. The diamonds need someone to help them process their lingering grief, someone that will help them grow from their broken family square, one point of which will never return, and find a new dynamic that they can found their identities on, a healthier dynamic. Steven is the literal remains of Pink, but he's also his own person, with his own established formation of relationships, a series of connections just like the diamonds once had, that doesn't include them. That emotional unavailability is the main reason that they could never find a new equilibrium with him.
Spinel, on the other hand, resembles Pink in many ways, but lacks any connections to speak of. She is alone and adrift, and though the movie spends most of the runtime exploring how terrible that was, the tragedy of her tieless existence, the ending reveals that it has also made her the missing piece of the diamonds' puzzle. This is symbolized by the diamonds' song the second time around. Every lyric that was negative for Steven and his situation is positive for Spinel's, implying that she is the person they needed, and they the home that she did.

While spouting all that afterwards about fixing garnet he could've dropped an offhanded "Wanna help?" And that would've made all the difference. I mean the way she was phrasing things like, "Was that all you wanted from me" he should've picked up on the blatant insecurity and been like, "no-no-no, I did need you to do that, but I still wanna spend some time with you. I have to fix Garnet, but there's no reason you can't hang out with us while I do that and even help."

I was diagnosed with bpd 6 years ago and she is the perfect embodiment and I'm honestly happy to finally have a character that really speaks to me and shows my friends that I'm not a bad person I just have gone through some bad things. I adore this character more than I can even say and I never thought even once that I actually like her as much as I like Lapis. I don't think Blues Powers would affect me because I have gone through way worse and came out strong on the other end and that's what spinel will do and I'm sure of it.

I think it's actually pretty good for Spinel to be with the other diamonds. After knowing that Pink is truly gone, they need to find some way of coping and reinventing themselves. If they adopt Spinel, then they have a chance at doing it right this time around. Plus, with Spinel being on homeworld, she won't be alone anymore. Even if things don't work out with the diamonds, she can find someone there who loves and appreciates her.
In that sense, I think it will be a great idea if she gets to meet Pink Pearl, who's also coming from years of abuse (being basically brainwashed and used as a puppet, and lets not even mention her gone eye). I think it will be good for both to meet each other, as how Lapis and Peridot were good to each other's healing process. We still haven't been shown how pink pearl ended up with a shatered eye, so there's plenty of space to develop story-wise. OH , also don't forget WE ALSO HAVE THE PEBBLES!
I agree. Pink Diamond had a particular personality, and with her gone, it throws off the group dynamic. They don't expect Spinel to be exactly like her, but they also yearn for someone who is light-hearted and fun. I don't see it as codependency; I see it as sorta finding a missing piece.
It's a bit like how people in our lives can come and go. Like, I had a friend who got me into manga/comics, but she also put me down every time I tried drawing my own stuff. I stopped spending time with her and searched for others who liked comics/manga and that DIDN'T put me down when I tried drawing my own stuff.
What Steven Universe is amazing and unique at - This might not be the ideal solution. But it's good, at least for now. Both Diamonds and Spinel need to deal with Pink being gone for ever. It's like creating a support group. Also, I love that they didn't force Spinel on Steven. She is NOT his responsibility. They don't HAVE to be friends just because he is the protagonist. He helped her and they are in good terms and that's enough.

I don't think going with the Diamonds was the right move. I was kind of expecting Spinel to join Lapis, Bismuth, and Peridot in Little Homeworld so she could be surrounded by other damaged gems and make friends organically. Especially since Peridot, Lapis, and Bismuth all talked about how they also tried to kill Steven. Mostly because really liked Spinel and wanted to see more of her in S6.
We still might; if their behavior in the movie was anything to go by, we won't be seeing the last of them.

That would've been nice and I hope to see Spinel in S6 anyways but I thought it was a fitting ending as both groups now have a way to cope and grow into a family. Spinel staying in that form instead of changing back shows how she won't be as gullible and vulnerable anymore. When they are singing at the end both groups gave their consent. Spinel was also excited, that's what she wanted the song says how she found the one and how they may not be Pink but they remind her of Pink and they understand what it meant to love her, the same goes for the diamonds.

Another thing some may have not noticed : Spinel self harms. In the song "Change" (or whatever it's called) she punches herself on the had while pulling her hair. That's self harm. When I was reminded of my bad memories or tried to not feel sad I used to do that. (punch myself;pull my hair;scratch myself) I thankfully stopped with the help of my friends and family.

I definitely thought to myself while Spinel and the Diamonds were singing their song that the whole "You're not her, but you were hers/the closest thing we have to her" was a terrible basis for a new relationship.
That is true but both groups gave consent and now they have a way to cope with what was missing to them. Like I saw someone else write, since the last episode of S5 something felt missing. The diamonds didn't really have someone to fill their gap and have the same thing as the Crystal gems have but now Spinel and the diamonds will have each other and I believe that both groups will remember their interactions with Steven and it won't be a fragile relationship.

Xavier Jones at the beginning when she’s first introduced I thought it might be a stylistic choice. I’ve also never seen the gem stone Spinel in person so I was thinking maybe the gem has some black in it since her top is also black. During her second song tho when she morphs back into her current self, it’s made clear that they’re tear tracks. I really liked that.

See I disagree. I think it’s worse than that. I don’t think she saw Spinel as beneath her, more so that she didn’t think she EXISTED past her. Pink thought that without her, spinel literally was nothing. Clearly she never thought about her past that.

Spinel going with the diamonds was not an act of co-dependance. Everyone belongs somewhere. She saw where steven belong as everyone rush to hug him and ensure he was okay. "Just let us adore you" was such a beautiful way to send her off. By defining stevens support as not codependent and spinels as, due to her behavior, is perpetuating a crummy stigma. Spinel DESERVES that love and adoration. And likely, when she has that love she will grow self confident and self assured. Those symptoms will subside.
As someone misdiagnosed as BPD for years, i can say that watching spinel immediately has me pin her down as living with BPD. And watching Stevens patience and love was wonderful.
When it comes to trauma based healing, people need to remember that the healing comes from relying in the people who love you and learning to trust and love them. You cant do that alone.
So, no - definitely was not a co-dependant move.
I think the homeworld has a ton of unlearning to do as we see in the beginning and end but I think Steven is going to pop by for visits (hey, Thanksgiving) and do what he can while maintaining his sanity and life.
I think eventually the gem empire will suffer an exodus and small collapse because many people will get a bit crazy and not want to hang around an emotionally toxic environment anymore, and maybe Spinel will grow beyond her need to constantly appease someone, but for now that's more home to her than anywhere and she knows how to operate in that environment at least.
I dont.... really think they *Love* her though. They remembered her as basically Pinks old pet. Theyre constantly desperate for something of Pink's to stay with them (as they told Steven in the beginning). I think they really just love the *idea* of her and that can be REALLY detrimental to spinel. This conclusion seems to quick, too... convenient? As someone with BPD this has definitely reminded me of some past bad relationships i had where I was with someone only because he showed interest in me because he was lonely. I also felt lonely and as we went on, it became toxic from both our ends.
I cant IMAGINE the diamons wouldnt talk about Pink DIamond to Spinel, constantly compare her, hell I think Spinel would probably have her old room. Another thing people with bpd suffer with is identity, and oh boy Spinel is most likely gonna feel that too. I just really dont see this being a good thing in the long run.
The diamonds clearly havent changed, spinel will totally get the same feeling again when the diamonds will unintentionally treat her as they treated pink diamond, so spinel will in fact become maybe, as miserable as pink diamond was, so i expect spinel to be a pretty nice "unbendable" villain with a very unusual solution in the show

My favorite part to Spinel's character is that she didn't require a song to make her a better person. She needed a song to make her start rethinking her situation.
After Steven finishes singing, she starts thinking back on how she came to where she is. Every time she started out good, both in the beginning and after being reset, she ends up at villainy due to her being treated as a low priority compared to everything else. She then turns that anger onto herself, on how she wasn't good enough for Pink Diamond, and that is making her not be good at all...then it finally clicks. Steven really isn't Pink Diamond, not as a person. He DID find her entertaining when she was nice and afterwards, he DID like her when they could be friendly. He just knew the Crystal Gems longer. He focused on his old friends before his new one. That is a fault of his, but she realizes that she isn't reacting how she should. Yeah, it hurts, but inside she just wants to be his friend. So why does she have to hurt him to accomplish that?
Fear of being left comes out as anger as someone w bpd I can tell u I go in panic mode when I lose someone I love and when ur anxiety acts up u get all bound up n u lash out not intentionally it’s just how it comes out because how intense that pain feels i physically hurt and emotionally hurt in a way I feel like I’m on fire n in that Moment of panic it’s natural to tell run and make irrational choices in attempt to stop the pain 😅 after we are safe n out of panic mode we can feel bad about what we did n wish we done things differently but u can’t change what u done
