- Today we continue our gem study and will be talking about the Gem with, in my humble opinion, the best bops in the series. We’re talking about the Crystal Gem, and fusion, known as Garnet. We’re talking the sum of her parts, her- and their- personalities, and what all these gems are said to mean in real life to see if they could have had any influence on shaping and creating the character. I love how Rebecca Sugar put ruby in a dress for they wedding episode, knowing in some countries the use him,he pronouns for Ruby.

I don't think of Ruby as any less masculine for wearing a wedding dress personally. The tuxedo that Sapphire wears really makes her feel feminine. They are supposed to be rock people without gender so there shouldn't be any problem. Besides if other cartoons can get away with male characters crossdressing, I don't see why other countries would be so opposed to ironic breaking tradition like that for Ruby & Sapphire's wedding.
The countries that chose to keep Ruby female & tone down their relationship though were far more pissed by what happened with Garnet's wedding.

@@WaterKirby1994 @WaterKirby1994 I wasn't saying that Ruby is any less masculine because she's wearing a dress, I'm saying it was clever of Rebecca to put her in a dress instead of a tuxedo because in certen country's Ruby is referred to as a boy which is obviously attempt to erase Ruby and Sapphire's homosexual relationship. Because Rebecca put Ruby in a dress it was kind of a little protest against the country's who censor the gay relationship between Ruby and Sapphire. I know technically the Gems in Steven Universe are genderless so there neither male or female but that's just a loophole Rebecca used so she can have the chance to portray a homosexual relationship in a child's TV show without being censored.

One of my favorite details about Garnet is that she never asks questions because Rose told her to "never question this" and in the movie, cotton candy garnet only asks questions.

I was so happy when Garnet was revealed as a Fusion and was super happy seeing she was a fusion of a Ruby and Sapphire i brought it up to my parents and we all had a big laugh and smile about it. My father's birthstone is a Ruby, and my mother's birthstone is a Sapphire, and my birthstone is a Garnet so in a way our family is represented in the show.

What I like a lot about Garnet is that she was the most friendly one when it comes to Greg. She was supportive of his relationship with Rose, she took time to properly thank him in "Message Received", the two of them played games from time to time. When Ruby and Sapphire fell apart, it was Greg whom Ruby sought out for support, and he gave it to her, understanding what she was going through. I wish we saw more moments of their friendship.

Dude Ruby's and Sapphire's wedding never ceases to bring me to tears. Them as a couple is amazing and realistic of any relationship. My fiance and I function so much like them, he's kinda a hot head while I'm the calm one. Also Garnet is badass and sassy as hell and I love her for it
Not only is Garnet a good representation of a queer relationship, it's a good representation of a relationship, period. I know it's been changing slowly but so many cartoons treat adult (aka parent figures) relationships as them being trapped together, hating one another. Also, garnet shows a great portrayal of healthy friendship (being able to set boundaries with pearl, expressing her displeasure and anger and still being able to heal the friendship on terms she can feel comfortable with)

I think Garnet is the most healthy of healthy relation ships, everyone fights with their loved ones and they both deal with it healthy! They argue a little then spent a short time apart to regain there cool. They talk with friends and think for a while until they make a decision. Everything they do is so healthy I can't even!!

Personally, I find Garnet’s relationship great! To me it means that Ruby and Sapphire love each other so much, they are OK, enthusiastic even, enough to act and exist as one being.
Also, when Steven was explaining Aquamarine to the gems and when asked why she drew herself Garnet’s response of “I love myself” makes sense because she is the embodiment of love itself. And that is amazing
I just realized that garnet's arc and interactions with peridot are an elaborate metaphor for the lgbtqia+ community and how they're treated
I love how Sapphire and Ruby are shown to have different ways of handling things. Like when Pearl lied to them so they'd fuse vs when Pink/Rose lied about her identity. In the first case? Ruby was the one who took it the hardest but in the second case? Sapphire took it the hardest. Just something I loved about them. Relatively the same problem but depending on the circumstances? The more extreme response can be either. Though heres something I wanna know: How long has our ruby been severing sapphire? I mean romances don't happen that quick. So I'm guessing they knew eachother longer and thus a bond grew which lead to the fusion.

A funny thing about the scene in which Steven helps ruby out of the cell is that when she looks after sapphire, she puts both of her hands on her head as if she would see into the future and locate sapphire. It really shows the strong connection between the two gems.

Something I’m surprised was missing was the combination elements, being Ruby’s pyrokinesis and Saphire’s cryokinesis merging into Garnet’s electrokinesis. There’s also how Ruby’s gauntlet merges with Saphire’s dagger to give the gauntlets some extra sharp points

My brother's birthstone is Garnet, mine is Zircon, my dad's Amethyst, and my mom's a Diamond. It actually matches up pretty well because my dad likes food and is a little silly, my mom likes being the "queen" of the house and is always cleaning to make sure it's perfect, my brother has a tendency to go emotionless and quiet, and I really want to be a lawyer when I grow up.
It's like with the Owl House. Some people STILL get upset over Luz and Amity for being in a relationship! If it bugs you that much then don't watch the show!! It's not fair to ruin it for other people
So here's a lovely thing me and my vocal teacher figured out. I have singing lessons every Monday and this week we were covering mixed voice. Basically it's the in between of your head voice and your chest voice. One of the songs we've been working on is "This Will Be The Day" from RWBY. It's extremely hard to match my vocals with the singer and it's hard to hit the high notes and give a sense of power at the same time. This wouldn't usually be a problem for me but whenever I add a sense of power in my singing, I'm usually using my chest voice. Like with the song "Hellfire" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I use my chest voice and sing it in alto to get more power. I was having a hard time wrapping my head around the mixed voice so when she described it as vocal fusion, it clicked. In a way, mixed voice is exactly like Garnet. Ruby uses her chest voice a lot and is filled with so much anger and power, while Sapphire uses her head voice and is more calm, I wouldn't say weaker though, she's extremely powerful with her voice too. Garnet is a mix between both, a fusion of head voice and chest voice. She has a lot of power, but she's also calm. Anyway, my vocal teacher loved it so we call it the Garnet voice.
I just wish Lapis and Peridot loved each other the way Ruby and Sapphire did

I love how Sapphire’s baseball dress has a shorter skirt and is easier to move in. It’s like she rejects her former noble status in favor of being herself and exploring new experiences, doing what’s considered “unladylike” or “not becoming of a noble”

I love the respect she gives when speaking of the healing properties of crystals.. very respectful, she does it in a way that shows that “even if I don’t believe in it, i respect your beliefs” this shows me that world maybe having bad moments but we have some very good souls still respecting everyone!
