Rory won’t get in the Hall because he refused to play the game. He was a free, wild spirit who played the S out of his battered Strat for all to see and hear and didn’t care about image and Grammy parties. God bless him and R.I.P.🎸
I wish people wouldn’t keep saying he’s underestimated… he’s clearly not! If you don’t know about Rory it’s because you’re living under a rock… get yourself (musically) educated and you’ll know about this beautiful man!
I will never forget the many times I saw him play this song live during my 20 years in Germany, but this just may be the best version of this song out there. Hard to say for sure because he played it so many different ways depending on the crowd and his mood, I guess. But I always loved his shows, they were always worth it. I will miss him.
How these people can sit silently through this gem is beyond me lol. This is one of my fav songs by Rory! Actually, Shadow Play is the song that got me into Rory in the first place. Love it!
I was discussing Rory and SRV with friends, and we determined that Rory has so much emotions and intuition in his playing that make him different from SRV, although both are most talented and beloved.
This is the best live Version of Shadow Play I’ve ever heard !! Rory may have been under-exposed compared to a lot of very average talents - but never underestimated by anyone who understands the Blues/Rock genre.
In St. Louis as Mississippi Nights, I got to pat this genius on the back for his incredible performance as he strolled back onstage after a stroll out into the crowd on this song.
When I first heard Rory I was amazed. I saw him at least five times more, and I must say each time was better than the time before. He was phenomenal and I will forever be thankful that I saw him live more than 10 times. He seemed to get better each time. I wish I could still hire him to play my birthday party. I would do so in a heartbeat. We will forever miss his music. Rest in Peace Rory. You are sorely missed.

One of the most underestimated guitarists of all times. He deserves a place of honor among the best RocknRoll guitar players.

Yeah. Guitar solos are like stultifying arguments. Simply perfect and magestirial. Wondeful. ❤

One of my all time guitar players ever. Love from South America to you, dear Rory. May your soul rest in the fields of Reed.
