"Auto body Scotty!". has a nice ring to it!😃
I’m about to buy Mercedes vans C class c300 4 Matic sport sedan 4D year 2013 can you gime advise is it a good? Or bad
Is your son's Toyota a manual or a CVT transmission
And Happy 4th to you too!
I wish you can leave the links to these items, I really like them
Props to Scotty for smashing his son's car to teach us new things 👏👏👏
Lol
When your dad is a mechanic, you better know how to drive or he will roast you like this 😂
Scotty needs to sell a Scotty Bobble head doll, except the arms flail when his head bobbles...
I would buy that
You mean like those toy cats some Chinese restaurants have?
Best idea this week
Trick for avoiding over-spray lines from tape. Crease/fold the edge of the tape inward about a 1/4 to 3/8's so it's sticking up slightly from the surface area. It blends much better.
Having your Dad as a mechanic is the best thing
Besides fixing the car, Scotty paints his wife’s nails. True family man!
That sander was so cheaply made. It might be just enough to file his wife's nails, LOL
@@FLPhotoCatcher 👍No slander. Us mechanics are always teasing each other.
@@Michael-yi4mc "Sander", not slander.
@@FLPhotoCatcher 👍Check!
A true 4th of July gift!
You’re a cool Dad and thanks for great tips on taking care of the scratches. All of your videos are great and super helpful. 🚗
Happy 4th, Scotty! Hope you have a great day with your family!
Body work even something as mild as that is damn hard to do. I’m totally impressed. I have something similar, but a little deeper and bigger area, but at least now I think I can make it a lot better. Thanks Scotty!
Thank the Lord for giving me a Body Man dad. He fixed all the damage I did to my cars when I was young. Heck, he did it after I got old.
Where is your kid? Father son bonding moment. My son has a hoist in his garage now. Learned most his bad habits from friends at engineering school.
Thanks for showing us how to sand and paint the car
Seeing scotty with regular glasses is the strangest thing I've ever seen. 😂
its like mc without his helmet
😅😂
Thanks Scotty! Looks a lot better after the repair! Happy 4th of July!
Scotty: I've done lots of "touch up body work" in the past. If you put the tape along the "crease" on that quarter panel, you will get a better result. The crease help hide the new paint from being detected by the eye -- with much better results! Also, more tape (or better yet some sort of paper) would have protected the rest of the panel from overspray.
I once painted about the bottom foot of the body of a 77 Buick Regal with rattle cans since it was all chipped and pitted. Painted it the same color and put a couple stripes between. I then buffed it all with a buffer pad on my power drill. Did it all in the street in front of our apartment. Took a couple weeks working a little at a time.
This isn't "terrible news". It's a minor problem. But thanks for making it into a video that helps us out.
This is typical TH-cam teaser, I think such is suggested by TH-cam and Scotty's hyperbole is a source of pride.
Hi Scotty greetings from Edinburgh Scotland
Thanks Scotty pointing how important color match is. Also doing as little as possible. If you bought all the equipment it would still be cheaper than taking it to a body shop.
Thanks, great video, you make things clear and simple. That repair at a shop near me would cost $1200.
Get the kid out there, and let him do the work. Your the instructor
Happy 4th of July Scotty! 🎆🎇
Always a pleasure to watch a master work
My son wrecked his car, now i have to disown him😂😂😂
“And I’m mad as hell”
😂😂😂😂😂
Don't buy him another CAR !!!! ,
It shocked the entire family
There is a product called Dr. ColorChip for stone chips and scratches that is easy to use and looks good. My car was pearl white and they don't have some of the colors. You get the paint color off the door and they match it. You dab it on and let it dry a couple of minutes and then you take a clear liquid and wipe lighty and it smooths out . I think the clear liquid is a clear coat . It looks really good when done. If not perfect you can take the clear liquid and wipe it off and redo it.
Still waiting for the terrible news about your family.
His cars ARE his family. Some people love their kids. Some people love their pets. Scotty loves his cars.
a scratch on your car is terrible and tragic news, how will he ever recover
Same here! I thought a family member had died.
For this to look right, you need to take it to a body shop or paint/dent repair.
Some things you can do yourself and count on a great result. But when it comes to paint and getting it all to blend correctly for a seamless look, I'd leave that to the pros.
Great video all the same!
Depends on the car honestly. If you had 10+ year old normie car, this works perfect.
Scotty is a legend fixing his son car ,next visit to his son Scotty needs a big steak dinner bless you Scotty your the best and great farher
Scotty, you are an artist! Thank you very much! 👍
automotive touch up is awesome, have only used them once but i have a very unique color and matched awesome for my side skirts
Damn Scotty , even at 73 years old . I never knew the paint color was on the tag . Nice job in the vid BTW !
Happy 4th Scotty🎉
Need 2 have your son out there & tell him how 2 do it himself🤔
He can just send him the video
If you would of used say..newspaper there would be no overspray
I've used their product (the paint) on a couple of my cars. Excellent product.
Great video! Thank you, Scotty
You are a man of many automotive talents
Totally wrecked
Too much trouble. It’s only a car. Nice work!
My daughter wrecked her car I made her change the front fender panel told her what to do
She wasn't happy but thanked me afterwards and she was more careful driving
Send her to change my front fender?
Sure wish that I would have a dad like you when I was younger or even when I'm older
You are definitely the greatest .
Uncle Scotty you never stop to impress me that was nicely done and you're not even finish yet..
My heart nearly broke I thought he’d went out and bought a Hyundai 😊
Scotty, Happy 4th of July!
Scotty’s sanding buffing machine has the random access on it.
I have used Automotive Touchup products and have found them to be very impressive.
2:15 No safety glasses with all that particulate?
7:20......and water hose to flush the eyes.
Great video even with a prodigal son who you'll need if you go blind.
love that horse sense keep it coming scotty
Sorry for your loss again Scotty
And that's why I keep my delivery boxes! 😉
2k clear with the hardener works good too. Make sure its ventilated very well.
I've used that brand on a desert sand pearlescent Wrangler. Perfect match, easy to touch up with. Highly recommend.
“My son wrecked his car and I’m mad as hell” 🤣🤣🤣
💀💀
Living in Canada, I have to do that each year !
I’ve used their paint and it works great. Kind of expensive but well worth it. Don’t forget to order the clear coat to
You're awesome, looks great, wish I'd seen this with my old VW Passat!
Great information, as always! This was timely for me. Thanks!
Thanks scotty! My son scraped my left front bumper on my 2009 Honda accord. Interesting to know the right way to repair mybumper properly.
We love you Scotty. Happy 4th of July🇺🇸🇺🇸
Gates has a good idea again? But i used to think Microsoft was, but sometimes I wonder.
If maintained properly, nuclear is the way. Nothing wrong with solar, but better used as backup and in more personal use. Windmills cost more to build ans maintain than what they put out.
A true 4th of July gift)))
Scotty, the reason the private power sector in the US is going to wind and solar is that they are less expensive to to build than nuclear. There are two incomplete Westinghouse AP1000 reactors (current state of the art PWR reactors being built) at the V.C. Sumner site in S.C. that need a buyer with some $$$. New nuclear in the US will need your tax dollars to pay for it. Liquid sodium reactors are not a new thing, at least one test unit has been built in the US in the past, I think in Colorado. Also, is there a link to the paint supplier?
Besides the paint, they have the clear coat and primer for the bumper.
Great knowledge to have, thank you!
Great tip Scotty! Perfect for all us cheap guys out there! 😛 Thanks!
Geeezzz Scotty!! How old is your son Scotty? 40? Maybe he needs some instruction and hands on responsibility!!
Happy 4th of July, Scotty. This looks like an easy fix.
If TURDS had wings, we'd all wear crash helmets!!! Db
Where I live, we don’t have DIY kits to do a paint job.
We wait till the damages are worth sending the vehicle to a professional who most of the time do an excellent job.
Only advice I would give you to roll your tape up, so that half of it is not touching the car that way it feathers end without leaving lines. I would also Use the catalyst clearcoat that autotouchup sells. it’s the one with the button and the bottom of the can inject the catalyst into the paint. It works much better.
GreenGoofs: "WAAHHH! WAAHHH! We all gonna DIE! WAAHHH!" Idjits all...
It's a rare event to see Scotty's eyes.
Earl Scheib would be proud.....
Only ninety-nine, ninety-five.
I wish I had a dad like Scotty. I would have been doing the labor while he's supervising.
Someone told me that Mechanics don't paint cars, Scotty is next level.
Happy 4th Scotty, great video! you wouldn't happen to know if they sell their paint by the gallon would you?
Masking the fender is easier and quicker than cleaning up overspray.
I have the exact same car with the exact same scratches in the same area...I honestly had to look out the window as I thought scotty had my car!!!!
Good job Scotty
Thanks for sharing Scotty 😊 can use this
Scotty and Vice Grip Garage, are my favorite sites, although some of VGG's terminology are a little confusing!!
I learned a lot from you thanks Scotty!
Nice demonstration Scotty.
I’m a body and paint guy. You might want to use a polyester filler so you don’t have to sand off so much paint.
Why didn't you just use that new type of rag that removes scratches that is constantly advertised on your channel? I would really like to see if it works.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
😂
He has no control on who advertises on his channel~that’s TH-cam
lol lol
I thought it was going to be about someone in the family who has Cancer…..NOT THAT HIS CAR WAS SCRATCHED!!
Thanks for the info 😊
I like that color paint company.
We have a chip in the paint from the ice storm that just keeps peeling like the paint job was done cheaply it’s so thin. It’s a newer car too.
Looking Good Scotty
Thank you, you are amazing, in a very good way.
I just got an idea so good from this video my stomach hurts 😂
New technology like that needs to be tested I do not want it in my backyard.
I thought the most terrible news about Scotty’s family was someone paying MSRP or getting work done at the stealership.
I really like this, but dang, for the cost of the paint and clear coat, never mind the cost to buy the polisher, it doesn’t seem cheaper than having a shop do it.
I guess this way I can guarantee it’ll look decent (of if I F up then it’s at least my own fault) and I’d have more paint if anything ever happened again.
Scotty, I'm waiting for part 2 of this video. I did mine
Good job Scotty.
Happy 4th, Scotty!
Lucky to have a daddy like you 😊
