This is one of the songs that really turned me on to fingerstyle guitar. I still remember getting the transcription in the mail, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning.
I live in toronto ontario.. this is the song i choose to learn for an guitar study project. I couldnt get it out of my ears since the day i heard it. I picked up the guitar about 2years ago and only heard this song like last year. Never attempted to play it till now.. Im really glad.. I just love it.
I love how he's just feelin' it from 1:43... Real artists get into their own music. You can tell he's loving this just as much as we probably are, and that comes through in his playing. So sincere. Love it.
A few days ago I walked into a guitar store..I was so excited to get some new strings...and when I walked in a man was sitting on a stool with a electric guitar in his hands..and the tune he was playing was Berkley Springs..I was so surprized...So was even more excited obout going in!
UNREAL! What a song! Anyone aware of any full band accompaniment versions? Imagining this with some bass and soft drums gives me the chills. Thanks Don Ross for kicking ass!
I grew up in Berkeley Springs, and there are churches on every corner and it's incorporated into our style of living... so he's not too far off the mark! But yes, Berkeley Springs is a lovely place and this is a lovely song!
man what a song my favorite by Don Ross I think because its so simple with such an overpowering melody. My only complaint is the set up of the amp or something around there area making that high pitch waaaaa sound throughout the whole song, apparently he sets it up like that? But for what reason if someone could shed some light would be great, oh well best EVER SONG!
There are some really good versions that rate top scores, have you also tried on youtube -- (Stonebridge Guitar - Model 00MS-33-SR) by Craig D'Andrea. His was the first version I heard then spent months trying to find out what I was called, then I found this.
@@sc7244 whoa that's an old TH-cam account haha. What's up Steve. Throwback for sure. Jess devine used to play this tune all the time when we were at WCI. Hit me up if you have tabs for it!
@@danielvanwinden9672 Haha yeah no doubt man, that’s sick you guys were shredding this type of music back in the day though! I recently became a huge Don Ross fan, guys like him, Andy McKee and Calum Graham are reasons why I got obsessed with playing finger style and haven’t really looked back since. I can do ya one better than tablature, what’s your email?
@@wendycee205 ^This comment was in response to another poster who said they could hear some influence from this tune in Andy McKee's Rylynn, which Joe was correct about. HOWEVER, while that may be stylistically correct as it pertains to Ross' arrangement, you are absolutely correct that David Essig is the original composer.
I keep finding the tab for this song but it's not the way he does in this video. I don't know if it's a tabbing problem or if I'm playing it wrong. if anyone is having this problem please tell me
What you should do is first make sure you are tuned correctly, and then go direct to the source and pay the quite modest price for the officially transcribed tab on the Candyrat, or preferably Gobyfish websites. There are still some stylistically performance specific variations throughout, but if you play actively with your ears and pay close attention to the video here, you will be able to sort those out no problem. In fact, that's how I learned Rockbarra, for which I massively prefer the old youtube version to the radically different album version, months before I acquired the tabs in the Complete Ouvre set in, I believe, 2012.

Don Ross is an iconic guitarist. His technique transforms the guitar into a living, breathing extension of himself.
I absolutely LOVE this song.
Kind of looks like Jesus playing the guitar and sounds like a song from heaven. Beautiful song Don.
This may be my favourite fingerstyle arrangement of all time.. the perfect combination of groove and melody. Don is awesome!
Yeah man I love this song, it’s become my new favourite.

fucking beautiful.
I think Don will get a lot of attention from these videos.
太帅了
Ya just the only problem is I don't have much experience yet to do that.
nice song, tuning makes it sound like he's playing a banjo
I know. I did not mean who was this song for. I meant that he was musically inspired by this song.
Weird, 4 people here live upside down...
I think Andy wrote that song for his brother's best friend's young daughter passing away actually.
It was written by David Essig.

True. This song has even more heart and emotion than rylynn by Andy Mckee.
ive noticed a similar issue with trying to cover don ross tunes. i usually just take the opportunity to add my own flavour to the song instead of his.
Well, about 3:25 ago I was having a bad day.....
When did you go to Ross's clinic?
5stars dude
@Joeypeck87 Replace youtube with youtuberepeat in the url.
Hagrid!!! :))
thumbpick?
Andy Mckee was probably inspired by this song when he composed Rylynn
around 1:40
he looks more like peter jackson (Lord of the directions director)to me. and i'm sure KG couldnt play this song quite as good as this.
tuning is in F yer
large jesus
yes, very weird to play....
