Don Ross is a class act all around. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a guitar clinic in Ottawa last weekend. Not only is he a master of the guitar, he's also pretty goddamn hilarious on stage. Hands down the best show I've ever seen and probably ever will.
I used to play in Panama with a guy named Don Ross... this is 'candle holding' category. What a great group of musicians are collected here. I just wish I could play, or could have ever played with such grace. Thanks. The muse is still smiling!
Once again, an incredibly beautiul piece from the Donfather... For all you Ontarian Don Ross fans, he's playing at Carleton U at 2 pm on the 15th. I've got my ticket, why don't you? Thanks again Mr. Ross
You know, this song has so much meaning. Not only is it beautiful, and the melody so peaceful, but the entire song is for someone completely dear to him. That person was his wife who is deceased. I'd like to see you do what he does!
Indeed.. Abd that's exactly what's gone missing in the music we hear on the radio every day.. Because if we would just listen to the song, and let it speak for itself, then we would be able to feel the true colours of the song. We'll feel it flowing to our hearts.. giving us rest.
I just haven't had time to give it a try. The muse is always smiling when she hears stuff like this. Amazing how someone's fingers can bring tears to my eyes and at the same time make me so happy. Hope it's done as much for you as it has for me.
All I have to go off of are Don's compositions, but theres so much love behind so many of his songs. Brooke has got to be very blessed to be with a man who has such a heart.
I really enjoy Candy Rats using TH-cam as a Vehicle for their artist. I would have never have known Don Russ or Andy McKee or any of their other crazy awsome muscians. Thank You!
Don is amazing. I seen him in concert a few months ago in Sydney. Him and his wife Brooke signed one of Don's cds for me!! Hey played Loaded Leather Moon Roof for me i was so happy!! They are both great people. I hope they come back to Cape Breton next year!!
Michael would be so proud of such an elite bunch of talented musicians found at candy rat ..very inspiring ...long live Hedges,,and Hedges inspired musicians through the generations
Most excellent. Reminds of someone near and dear to me. The song I mean. Imagine that. I'd comment on the guitar playing but when it get's to this level the guitar speaks for itself ---and for the fingers operating it. Some do have IT!!!! Thanks for this.
this is my favourite candy song. i mean it's so simple, and yes the other stuff is unbelievably cool, but the feeling and emotion portrayed in this song is nothing short of spectacular! it just amazes me!
A very chilled composition from Don this time. Ha, i bet even if he accidentally sneezed when playing it would still sound wonderful. But this is beautiful, reminds me of drinking a cool pint of cider, during a sunset over the fields of the british countryside
Luv this one!! What amazes me about Don is that all these years and songs later, he is still so fresh and inspiring. Brooke ain't no slouch either......check out Brooke Miller- "Two Soldiers"........amazing vocals and she cranks out a mean melody on that Greenfield!
Beautiful composition. I liked the way he bent the string at the end. I guess if I played this enough I'd come up with lyrics but that's just what my ears want to do. GB LOL Ray.
Saw this guy last night with Andy Mckee. They were fenominally good, was an awesome gig, this song almost had most of the room in tears.... They are really great guys aswell Keep it up
The tune is in what's called "jazz waltz" rhythm , or 9/8 time where you feel the rhythm as 1 (2,3) 2 (2,3) 3 (2,3). The pulses are quick ones, so the 9 goes by quickly. It is a three, but subdivided into 3 groups of 3. If that makes any sense! DR
man that's terrible. i read his bio some time after to learn of his 1st wife and had figured that was what you meant. it didn't tell me that. thank you for the info. and even though it might not help much mr. ross, i would like to extend my condolences as well.
I laughed really loud when I saw the adds this time. Usually, when I watch guitar videos, I get stuff like : suck at guitar?, Blues Classes or buy a wonderful guitar! But now, I just got The best Diet of 2008! hahahahah. Anyways, excellent song =)
Narada more or less went out of business as the music industry went digital and the record companies downsized or closed shop altogether. Narada was bought in the 1990s by EMI, but they were based in Milwaukee since the days they were an indie label. The Milwaukee office got closed by EMI about three years ago. The label exist now only as an EMI imprint, but it lo longer has its own staff or offices. Sad, but it's the way of the future. -DR
pop music and Radio music is mainly meant to be dance music thats all its purpose is . I love this music as well but we cant dance to it in the club or at a party
I had the privilege to see Don live in Hamilton, Ontario and this has to be the prettiest song he has ever written and performed. Keep up.

those harmonics tell a story in itself. beautiful song. Hats off to you Ross!
what an awesome idea. i like smoking a little and doing my laundry/vacuuming while listening to chill music like this. Don Ross might be my new hero.

I love all of don rosses music, but this one is really moving. If I were any more of a sap I'd shed a tear for this piece.

That sounds like such a nice guitar play. Makes me feel good hearing it, especially played by an artist like Don Ross
quality note selection, enjoyed through and through
I love his guitar playing skills!!
Great playing and a sweet one on that guitar.
This guy is so methodical. Even that last harmonic where he vibrato-ed it from top top, look at how he kept time even as the note faded.
lovely song, and i adore the title of the album :D
Beautiful composition. I liked the way he bent the string at the end. I guess if I played this enough I'd come up with lyrics but that's just what my ears want to do. GB LOL Ray.
