The wood fences and decks have to be water treated every 2 years. However, if you stain it and polyurethane. It should be fine for 10 years or longer. Most people don't do anything to their decks or fences and that is why they rot after 5 years.
@@LaceyFamilyFarm_THIS_ . Had no idea about the crapload or even the expected lifetime of a wood fence. 15 years??? Really? After the last couple hurricanes the neighbor’s vinyl fence stands unchallenged _WITHOUT_ maintenance (the new home owners didn’t even replace the caps that got blown off) - while we’ve had to replace ours entirely, and after that - put back whole sections that have been blown down by the last couple hurricanes in 7 years. I’m definitely getting vinyl once this pos gets blown away by the one that’s headed our way right now - BUT THEYRE ALL OUT OF STOCK!!!!
The vinyl fence post is suppose to have a wood post inside of it. That is why it looks like a sleeve. It also makes the fence a lot more sturdy. But I've seen most people put it up with out the treated post. Seems like a big wind could destroy it. I'm a carpenter and when these vinyl fences came out, we put a treated post in all the ones we built.

Exactly. Good point. And unfortunately most people wont do that and still spend more in the long run.

Yea, The white vinyl fences are made to put an Ibeam that they sell in the fence area, that goes in the vinyl posts to provide more strength
Do the vinyl fences come in different colors? Or do they only come in white?
