    Everything he covered in this video is spot on. I am a Professional Fence installer in South Carolina. Between high winds and the hot sun if you put your money in low grade products expect to replace it or repair it more often than you would like. Save yourself the pain and headaches save your money for a little longer and get the better quality products you will thank yourself later for doing so.

    I had a professional company install a vinyl fence 20 years ago. A tractor ran into a post and damaged it. The supplier didn't have that exact model anymore. Similar ones existed but spacing between the posts were different (1.25 vs 1.5 I believe) and it just looked way cheaper. So even when you get a professional company that just does fencing you might find out you'll still have issues down the line. Highly suggest storing a bunch of extra if you want it 20+ years later. Last time we had a gate get damaged (something hot melted/burned it). I ended up just buying raw posts, tracing out the rail holes by hand using the damaged pieces, cutting it with a jigsaw and a Dremel wheel, and building a new gate. Cost me about $40 instead of a few hundred easy for what was going to look like a cheaper out of place gate from a professional.

    Great video Dan and team, excellent job explaining the difference in quality. We go through the same struggles in Ma, a lot of people purchase the box store vinyl as shown in video and they do not save much on material especially after when they have to have fence replaced multiple times versus doing it right the first time with quality material and doing it once 💪🏻
    Have a great dang day

      @newenglandman2413 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greetings! How have you found the longevity of vinyl in our MA winters? I have seen a lot of failures in the way of cracking and even breaking. Is this merely a matter of what Dan was saying, that I was seeing poor quality vinyl? Thank you.

      @@newenglandman2413 Hello, from what we see I would say mostly due to big box store that shall not be named 😀 Any fence when struck by something hard enough will suffer damage and usually break. We install professional grade vinyl fences all year and they hold up very well as long as they are not hit by fallen tree branches or being struck by rocks from lawnmowers etc.

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We know of people that just use screws to lock the top rail in, but we prefer the rail locks. More secure in my opinion to spread the surface area of that contact along the entire side.

    Serious question, will the cheap panels, that you aren't a fan of, hold up inside a building? I'm building a small dog kennel inside a room in our shop. Floors are concrete so I can set the posts correctly. No worries about sun rot or wind. I liked the idea of the pre built ones being a set size. Basically, they will be used as bays for the dogs. I don't need them to last more than a year or so, just until I can get a permeant structure built for our kennel business. Then I intend to have a professional install good vinyl fencing. Would they withstand dog scratching for a year-ish?

    You can use metal abrasive cutting blades in table saw, skill saw, miter saw, or even a angle grinder to cut vinyl. Makes a fast clean cut and is slightly safer then a metal fine tooth blade (only slightly)

    Dan my man… I wasn’t expecting the perfect snow angel. You Devil!!!
    I put in a vinyl fence from a pro supply house in Florida two years ago. The neighbors had a handyman install theirs with big box panels.
    Mine made it through two hurricanes unscathed. The neighbors came apart in the first one. And it’s replaced sections and posts also failed in the second.
    Now, about those self drilling screws… who trains them on where and how to screw themselves? I mean, I am always being instructed to go screw myself. Yet those come out of the bag ready to do so.
    You could blame the dirt on TMBC… I mean, no one blames the Main Character (and resident Snow Angel Sculptor) when the props or scenery are screwed up… do they?
    I’m gonna go out and start training my screws… it’s gonna be a good danged day!

    Excellent, informative, entertaining, great attitude, as always. I always walk away having some new useful knowledge. Not to mention that the way you handled that pre-fab panel on the portable table saw in the wind is skill above pro level. Was clenching my teeth through that one.
    However, I must lodge my complaint against your use of the term "u" channel. That is a blatant and offensive dyslexophobic term. It could also be an "n" channel or a "c" channel. Oh my Dog! So offensive!
    I would like to know also if it is custom local to your area to hang around with a 2-foot level between your legs (cf. 1:30-1:50). The practice could be hazardous. On the other hand, perhaps I am being prejudicial by assuming that it is a 2-foot level. If that is not, in fact, a 2-foot level between your legs, may I suggest you look into other sorts of videos you could be making, probably for very good money.
    Thank you for a great video and please make more!
