Ewoks! C3PO in Galaxy's Edge! Disneyland 80's Nite Was RAD!

- We went to Disneyland After Dark 80's Nite, where we got to meet rare characters (EWOKS in Tomorrowland, C3PO in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge!), eat special 80's themed food, and dance the night away at Videopolis! This was the second Disney After Dark event we have ever been to (the first being Marvel Night last year at Disney California Adventure), tickets were $109 dollars each and the party was 4 hours long from 9pm-1am. Was this worth the expensive price? YES! We were very hesitant since the Marvel Night experience was very lackluster. Disneyland After Dark 80's Nite was jam-packed with almost TOO MUCH stuff to do and so much delicious sounding food that it was hard to choose what to eat. Here are all the things we did at Disney's 80's Nite:

Galactic Grill -
Radical Rib Sandwich: ribs covered in BBQ One sauce and crispy onion strings on a toasted baguette
Sloppy Joe Potato Morsels: tater tots covered in chipotle ranch, Sloppy Joe's beef, and sprinkled with cheddar cheese
Outrageous Orange: orange and vanilla beverage
Troubadour Tavern -
Gummiberry Juice: a mix of black & greens teas, pineapple juice, cherry, juice, orange juice, greek yogurt, apple & wild berry flavors topped with whipped cream and gummy bear candy
Mint Julep Bar -
Bubblegum Beignets: warm fluffy Mickey-shaped beignets covered in bubblegum flavored powdered sugar
Not only did we get to meet TWO Ewoks, but we were lucky enough to see R2D2 and (never before seen in Galaxy's Edge) C3PO! We got very lucky as C3PO came out for his meet and greet EXACTLY as we got to the front of the line. It was so cool to see him in Galaxy's Edge and I hope Disney decides to make him a permanent character in the near future. We also got to see Br'er Rabbit and Br'er Fox, some of Kitra's favorites from the ride Splash Mountain. Roger Rabbit was doing a meet and greet, but the line was way too long and we only had 4 hours at this party so decided to skip it. Ariel was meeting with a gigantic Sebastian costumed character, which we don't think we've ever seen before. The main thing that made this event so iconic was the resurrection of VIDEOPOLIS! In case you aren't familiar with Videopolis, was a teenage dance club in Disneyland in the 80's. It was place where teenagers could escape the rest of the park and dance the night away! It was so cool to see this brought back to life and it definitely was the most popular place during this party. We think Disneyland needs to bring this back, or something like it because it was SO MUCH FUN!

It always makes me laugh to know there are people that exist in this world who think adults shouldn't be allowed to go to Disney and enjoy themselves. And Disney says, oh yeah? Here is a park-wide party made just for those very people. Thank you, Disney, for knowing that you don't have to be a literal child to have child-like joy and enthusiasm about the things you love.

Given how new Disney theme parks still are, many of the people who grew up with Disney are adults now! 20/30 years ago, adults hadn't really "grown up" with Disney!

I love the 80’s. I’m 46 so that was my time. I wish I could have went to this but thankfully you did and can let us see the radical stuff. I was 7 years old when Empire Strikes Back came out. I lived in Portland Oregon. We went at night to see the movie. When the credits started rolling an usher came out and the curtains closed. (Yes, we used to have curtains in front of the theater screen) He said “I want to inform you that Mt. Saint Helens has erupted and we are washing off ash from the car windows”. Empire Strikes Back is my all time favorite movie because of that evening.

Ds Plays yes it was a crazy night for a 7 year old. The movie was intense and then we were given dust masks before leaving the theater. It looked like it was snowing gray flakes. This was one of the early eruptions that lead up to May 18 1980 eruption that took the mountain top off.
Also I laughed when you were hugging Rex and the cast member was like can you not do that? 🤣

This whole event looked freaking epic!!! Kitra out there living her best Ewok life and Peter with C-3PO, the all-out joy was just infectious from start to finish and I loved it!!!

I'm glad you posted this. We've been considering going to the Villains Night one of these and having never been to a Disneyland After Dark we weren't sure what to expect or if it would be worth it. This helped a lot.

I'm definitely old enough to remember Disneyland in the 80's, though I missed most of the decade because I didn't live in LA, I DID spend Grad Nite in 1988 at the park AND I still have my program AND my plush Winnie the Pooh with a Mortar Board, and he still plays the theme song when you push his hand.
I also remember the peoplemover through Tron, and that was awesome.

HEllo! Kitra, I am also a child of 83, I was into Fraggle Rock, Rainbow Bright, GEM and Pound Puppies. This channel is such a fun place to be! I have been watching older videos and as someone who's nerves do not enjoy park rides, it is so cool to finally see the inside of lots of rides (Thanks Peter). The Symphony Cruise got me hooked, loved the budget hotels too! Peter has enthusiastic knowledge that is great to see in video form compared to /Film. The choices of Star Wars characters for these photo ops is a cool little Easter egg. Star Tours first opened in 198u, so that makes sense. And the Ewoks and Droids (R2 and 3PO) both had cartoons that started in 1985.

Omg! You guys got so lucky with C3PO and R2!! I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who loves splash mountain! It’s my favorite ride too! I was sad that it was down for refurbishment when I was in WDW last week.

When I was a kid, I went to Hollywood Studios ‘cus I was a huge Star Wars nerd and wanted to ride Star Tours. After the ride I went down the ramp into the gift shop and saw what I thought was a life-sized ewok teddy bear-until it started walking around. 😱

Being from the MidWest, I've always only gone to Disney World, never Batuu West, and I have to admit, your videos make Disney Land look so much fun! Everything in one place! It looks so much more convenient for casual day tripping. DW is an event you have to plan for, how many days, which park first, all the fast pass nonsense. Just--we're here again, come with us!
I know it was 90's themed, but I loved when Marvel designed the Captain Marvel site as a 90's style webpage. It was so great.

I have been watching your videos for about a year now and I can say that I absolutely love you guys and your videos! I am OBSESSED with theme parks particularly Disney + Star Wars(!!!) but since I live in Australia (though I have visited both Disneyland + Disney World) I can't just go whenever I like, so I love the fact that I get to go along with you guys on your adventures! You're both such positive people and have a wonderful joyous energy about things that most adults deem as 'childish'! If I had a terrible workday, watching your videos always puts me in a good mood! They have to make permanent C3PO and R2 at Batuu! It's such a missed opportunity otherwise. I can see how C3PO is hard to pull with how hot the suit gets and how limited movement the actor inside can have but they could make him only walk around late at night that way there's less chance of some little kid knocking down the actor or the actor fainting from being too hot inside the suit.
We had trouble meeting the characters when we got back. My son would have loved to get photos with all of the star wars characters but we kept being too late for Rey and Phasma and R2.
As a side note, my three year old didn't understand why we couldn't find Daisy Duck!

i see rides are still arent dsiabled friendly (fast or space ) and hotels not setup for patrons who are disabled (seen via videos (ada laws can shut them down

My wife and I attended the very first "Pirates and Princesses" party at WDW long ago. It was AMAZEBALLS. We went in costume (dressed as pirates, of course!). I don't think they allow that any more? But it was absolutely worth the investment of the ticket price. Super limited crowds. The rides were all sill operating so we rode the Haunted Mansion ALL BY OURSELVES. In fact we each took a private Doom Buggy! We rode Pirates Of The Caribbean ALL BY OURSELVES. And its really amazing what you can hear in the attractions when the white noise of thundreds of extra human bodies is removed. You wouldn't think people sitting in a ride would make that much ambient sound, but by gosh, they DO. So as a fellow Disney stalwart, I agree that the after-hours events (even when they are limited by time) are hands down worth the price. And now I gotta throw this out: We suspect that it was *actually* Johnny Depp playing Jack Sparrow on the parade float that night. The Disney cast members they pick for Sparrow are superb, but if this wasn't J.D., he must have been a clone!
Love and grew up in the 80's and would totally love that gnarly munchies you had there. An have no idea why, when I think of 80's must talk like Crush meets Bill and Ted. The way you 2 look at the end, I laughed and felt your pain of being up that late. Do hope they bring this back or do another decade.

I gave the show 4.5 out of Peter and Kitra for the show ONLY because I wasn’t there! Great show as always, and some of us were too old to remember gummy berry juice because I was just out of college from the 80s were going around.... not something I would’ve been interested in but I’m glad it remind you of your memories! Just watched your newest video on the Merriest Party and you’re right, this was totally one of the best parties! I found out that the ability to do projection mapping existed back in the 60s, perhaps even older. Witness the singing busts in the haunted mansion. Grim grinning ghosts, about to socialize. 💡⌛️⚗👻
