Most Ridiculous Things To Buy in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

- Disney has loaded Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge with a ton of prop replicas that only hardcore Star Wars fans might recognize and buy. We take a look at the ten most ridiculous and obscure items sold at Galaxy's Edge. Note: this doesn't include ridiculously priced merch, like the $25,000 custom full-size R2-D2, but more obscure items.
Our list includes:
* Resistance MRE, which is a reproduction of the Rebel MRE kit that Luke Skywalker can be seen eating out of on Dagobah in Empire Strikes Back.
* The Resistance Data Key, a USB key replica of the data storage unit that Lor San Tekka presents to Poe Dameron at the beginning of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
* Maz Kanata Statue, a replica of the big Maz statue that is seen above her castle in The Force Awakens.
* Yoda's Illuminator, this is the light source that Luke Skywalker has with him when he lands on Dagobah in Empire Strikes Back. Yoda becomes fascinated with it and has an altercation with R2-D2.
* Temple Gaurd Mask. a mask of the mysterious guards seen only in the Star Wars animated shows.
* Syndulla Family Kalikori, a life size prop replica of an item that appeared at the end of Star Wars Rebels, a revered Twi'lek heirloom passed from parent to child through generations that Thrawn gets his hands on.
Jedi Food Capsules: The little pen cap looking things that can be seen on the belts of Jedi Knights in the Star Wars prequels.
Chance Cubes: Watto uses a chance cube to decide the fate of Anikan in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Now instead of flipping a coin, you can use your own chance cubes to decide between two different paths.
Imperial Credit: A gold prop replica of the currency in the Star Wars galaxy. It has been seen in the games, the animated series and even briefly in a blink and you'll miss it scene in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, but as far as we know the exact prop this is replicating has never appeared in any Star Wars live-action film yet. There is some speculation online it could appear in The Mandalorian.
Japor Snippet Necklace: Young Anikan Skywalker gives Padme a necklace he made out of Japor Snippet. and tells her it should bring her good fortune. Now you can own it!

Most of the stuff in Galaxy's Edge doesn't have the Star Wars logo front and center, because why would shops on Batuu have Star Wars logos? It doesn't fit with the theming.
@@ericbazinga you're missing the point a bit here...Stores in the other areas of the parks have just everyday items like mugs, cups, phone cases, clothes...with a logo or characters on it, I remember when the princess dresses had the princess face on them. I KNOW that Galaxy's Edge stores don't have this kind of merch and I say I'm glad they do ,even if some people find them obscure or don't know their origin, because yes, it's what make the immersion works.

This items are cool but in my opinion they are a bit overpriced.
Overpriced is a matter of opinion. So much is sold out now that it’s hard to say people stayed away because it was overpriced.

What I mean is that this things should be worth less. From the quality to what the object is, they are too expensive. Still really cool tho.
I mean, everything at a theme park is overpriced, its part of it. Everything in Marvel or Harry Potter land at Universal in Orlando is super expensive

I wouldn't expect anything less from Disney though. Some things have a 2000% markup or more. Also, you're paying for the name. Same goes for buying brand name products anywhere. Also, if people want it bad enough, they will pay.

I've seen in another video that you can buy a $100 Disney gift card at the Droid Depot that is a metallic credit. Then you turn around and use the gift card to buy the Droid but you can keep the gift card.

This video is a great unique angle. An angle you should consider cultivating. "Ridiculous items" is a great alternative to the tons of videos we see showing the same merch. (droids and lightsabers). It's really neat seeing the little items that don't get attention. This type of video could be used at other locations as well. Thanks for the great work! Looking forward to more!

They actually have something like that as a gift card that you can use within Galaxy's Edge. It looks kind of the same and of course you can keep it after it runs out of credits. It's not as big but it has a pretty cool design to it it's almost like a badge

Would be cool if the imperial credits could be used like a gift card? Load money onto it and use it to purchase food and items around the park. Talk about immersion.
They do have a bronze colored coin called Batuu Spira, it’s an ancient Batuu currency, that basically serves this function. You can see me buy one I think in our datapad/nighttime video.

Great video and adding the movie clips made it even better. This is some real obscure merch that I can appreciate but still would never recognize by just simply looking at it.

$8 for Four 6 sided dice (don't get me wrong, i've previously spent more for less, but those were somewhat more limited or unique)
$25 for a small fishing tackle box with 3 types of trail mix (also pretty sure Luke's one was tin, not plastic).
$130 for a 12 inch 3D printed replica of a statue seen for approx 5 seconds in episode 7.
No price on the 32GB USB memory stick (but a 1TB stick from most stores is only about $25-$30) that is a "replica" of a movie prop that i am pretty sure was not actually seen in the film as it was always in a pouch.
$30 for an small LED lamp.... 0_o
No price on what are basically Jedi Pez (but not as cool as if they actually were pez) that look like they are made out of Sharpie caps, also willing to bet the refills are expensive as hell.
$10 for a Padawan hair clip, nice recycling of unsold stock Disney (I also think they were cheaper last time)
$130 for the Temple Guard mask... actually may be worth it, looks good.... but is it able to be worn?
$20 for a necklace (plastic) that looks worse than the fan made ones that have been around for years
$60 for a 4" brass plate as replica of a prop seen for a handful of seconds in episode 1
I would not call it niche, though certainly less recognizable that the regular memorabilia. It does strike me however that someone from products and marketing sat though the movies and tv series (likely for the first time) with a notepad and wrote down anything/everything that was on screen (visible or implied) and could fit in a shopping bag. Then stuck a price tag on them without some much as a though as to quality.

uhuhuh1966 What’s funny is that Disney wanted to create a new world and experience that nobody has seen in Star Wars before, even though GE is clearly based off the ST, yet, they have no problem selling overpriced merch from the OT and PT.

I love how detailed everything is in Galaxies Edge and can't wait to go when it opens in WDW. I won't argue that there is a lot of cool stuff that they have, and overall it is reminding me of the old "Things You Never Knew Existed, But Desperately Need" catalogue. However after seeing this video it honestly makes me think that Disney sat a bunch of employees down in front of a tv, played the movies and said, "Make a list of anything obscure you think we can make a dollar off of"

Shouldn't the resistance MRE box say rebellion or something. I thought Resistance is what they're called in the new movies but it was Rebellion in the original trilogy
I guess the thought is that the resistance adopted some of the things from the rebellion.
Not too long ago, MRE Nation actually had some MREs packaged up for Star Wars cosplaying. They also had some for BSG, Fallout and Star Trek..

I wish there was a Doctor Who version of this in the UK with all the obscure merchandise and a build your own sonic experience and all the space food and the bar Captain Jack meets Alonzo at. I didn’t get to visit the original Doctor Who Experience exhibition so a completely immersive experience of the Whoniverse would be cool.
CuriosityRocks I can see there being TARDISes (TARDISs’?) scattered throughout the land, and there’s a different Doctor that meets with guests.

I’m pretty sure I saw a Kalikori in the background of someone’s Instagram story as well. I’m so pleasantly surprised by all the Rebels related merch.
To be fair, i know that the temple guards specifically have an unusually large following among the cartoon fans. They made the temple guard light sabers be one of the legacy hilts so it makes sense they would make a mask for cosplayers;

Sigh. I'm not proud of it, exactly, but I just coughed up about twice that retail price for the japor snippet on Ebay. ( I have several other "unofficial" versions, including one I made for myself, but I wanted this one.) It's the one thing I would really want from Galaxy's Edge if I actually went in person, aside from a lightsaber. And there's zero chance I"m going anytime soon, so...
Disney is the only theme park in the world (that I know of) that actually sells replicas of their trash cans, so all of these offerings do not surprise me. Speaking of which I need to pick up a couple trash cans on my next trip coming up.
