just dropping in to say that rolling quartz has a newly released song called fearless and it's gotta be my favorite from them so far! hoping for a reaction some day if not in the near future
🕣 Because the video production company is the same as Dreamcatcher's, notice the set in RQ's "Good Night" is the same as DC's "Odd Eye" Dystopia Dance version. Likewise, the throne room in RQ's "Holler" is the same as DC's JiU & Yoohyeon's "Monster" cover. May Dawney has a nice, short "Good Night MV comparison" video showing some of the ways RQ paid tribute to DC!
👑❤️💎 I went to their concert in Seattle in May; they were amazing! Aug 11th they'll be at JUMF, same day as Dreamcatcher! (InSomnia/Diadem freak-out day!) 🇨🇦🇰🇷 Aug 25 & 26 they'll perform at the Toronto Korean Festival. If any of you can go, GO! #rollingquartz
So their version of good night is an homage to dreamcatcher! Youngeun (the drummer) is Handong's drum teacher! But yeah rolling quartz are big fans of dreamcatcher!
Great to see you checking out RQ! The drummer is Yeongeun, and she actually taught Dongie how to play the drums (sadly no real interactions, just them mentioning on IG they know each other). All the members of RQ are fans of DC and have said they'd love to collab with them, but Yeongeun and the bassist Arem have actually posted videos and pictures of their album unboxings. Also you're in luck - after they finished their US tour recently, they announced they were heading back to start work on their new album/comeback so we can look forward to new music soon hopefully!
It's still my hope that we could one day see a US tour with Rolling Quartz opening for Dreamcatcher. It's pretty common for US groups to have opening acts but I've never seen a kpop group do it and I think they would pair perfectly.
When Rolling Quartz played Seattle, they had two local bands open for them: Atrocity Girl and Always Naked. I think they did the same in their other tour cities (but not sure). Maybe it's a "group" vs "band" thing, rather than a 🇰🇷 vs 🇺🇲 thing??? For what it's worth, RQ & DC will both be playing at JUMF (Jeonju Ultimate Music Festival) on Aug 11... Maybe they'll work something out for the future. 🤞🙏👍
@@BradleyJSeattle I went to Rolling Quartz's NYC show, and they had a band open for them. I forget the name because I didn't really care for the opener.
wooo! love them so much, so glad you were able to react to them! good night is definitely one of the best covers I've ever heard, they did such a good job with it
Rolling Quartz are sooooo good live! All the girl's have such great energy and stage presence. Jayoung's vocal stamina is insane, it was seriously impressive how she was able to run around the stage as much as she did and still be so stable. Also hearing that Dreamcatcher 'Good Night' rendition live was 👨🏻🍳💋!!
Dear lady, your fellow InSomnia here. Loved your reaction at 7:46 " 😲...IT'S GOOD NIGHT! IT WAS GOOD NIGHT GOOD NIGHT! DREAMCATCHER'S GOOD NIGHT!". thank you for being a part of InSomnia :) P.S: the RQ drummer is a huge fan of DC
So glad to see your reaction to Rolling Quartz. The only live shows I've been to lately have been Dreamcatcher (x2) and Rolling Quartz. (Not counting jazz sets.) Of course RQ also does wonderful, creative covers, and are working on new music, but now that you've been bitten, I encourage you to look for the videos from the US tour (or other live shows you can find on their channel). They are one of the great live bands. (But don't miss their mv cover of Azalea.) Now for something very different - but have I ever steered you wrong? Since you mentioned Halestorm, it is mandatory that you listen to Lovebites, a five woman Japanese band that took their name in homage to Lizzy's song. The 2 guitarists are the best in the world (but don’t take my word for it). You might like this: Midori is also a competitive body builder, and Miyako a classical concert pianist. The songs are in English - singer Asami (think Ja Young, but extra) credits Aretha Franklin, and Alicia Keys as influences). The lyrics display a passionate but non-didactic social conscience. I could go on, but I'll just give a link to Stand and Deliver from the latest album Judgement Day. th-cam.com/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/w-d-xo.html
Heck yeah, RQ. As someone mentioned already, safe to say, if ur Insomnia, ur also already or will become a Diadem 😁 They have a really good connection with fans, like, I talked on twt with Hyunjung about Pokemon etc 😁 They really deserve more and more 😊
yay I'm so glad you checked Rolling Quartz out, They are my absolute favorite krock band, though I am still a little mad at Arem because she hasn't punched me yet 😮💨.
"is this going to be a problem?" Oh, absolutely. Ive yet to get my friends into dreamcatcher (they arent big on kpop) but I've gotten a couple into rolling quartz since theyre harder. They dont have a large discography yet but they have a lot of really, really good covers on youtube. Misery Business, Azalea, Sing Your Heart Out, and Zitti E Bouni (dont remember which version id recommend, either both or whatever the discord says) would be my cover video recommendations. :) They started out as two different bands, Rolling Girlz and Rose Quartz, but they hit it off and joined together to become the Rolling Quartz we know. They just had their very first US tour back in May (sadly i couldnt swing traveling to any of the concerts...) And they're still posting behind the scenes stuff on TH-cam i think. Also on youtube... If you go to their about page, you'll find links to some of the girls solo channels where they also do stuff. Yeong Un is my bias because I'm helpless to lady drummers, but honestly i love all the rest too... In typical kpop terms they are all wreckers for me. Really glad to see you check them out :)
🎸 Arem has her own, day-in-the-life, "Rumi" TH-cam channel. That talented tattooed woman's an 🧅. Peel back the layers and discover the 🐌🐌 mama, Harry Potter nerd 🪄, etc. "Good!" 👍
These girls are fantastic. I found them about 8 months ago. I love the video for Holler. These girls are Rockstars. Their attitude just pours thru the screen.
5:52 I swear, Jayoung, the lead vocalist, could sing a backflip. I got to go to RQ’s show in LA this year. That lady eats CDs for breakfast and holds the deed to any stage she steps on. And she ain’t even my bias. Edit: 9:15 the drummer is Yeongeun. She *is* my bias.
Nice. You checked out RQ😊 For Krock, two girl bands i always go for. One is RQ, the other is DIH. I lean more to DIH though. But both bands are equally skilled. RQ has 5members, while DIH has 4.
I think it's safe to say most Insomnias are also Rolling Quartz fans, they're just so good. If you check them out again I definitely recommend Azalea & Nazababara.
I told you about Good Night. Don't worry, I mentioned it MONTHS ago so I don't expect you to remember, it's fine. So, the Drummer, Im Yeong Eun (Yeongeun), is also Han Dong's Drum teacher. Cool, huh? :)
💎😱❌ MV out now & Online Concert this weekend! Hey Rogue, Rolling Quartz just dropped their latest song/MV for "Fearless" 16 hours ago and it already has 67K views! It rocks hard and you're going to love the visuals! I can't wait for you to fire up your camera and do another reaction. Also, they're doing another free online live concert release party this weekend (for me, it's 9pm PDT Saturday 9/23). They always do a lot of interaction with the fans in the live chat, too.
Must see covers & collabs: 🇮🇹 RQ's "hot" cover of "Zitti E Buoni" by Eurovision winner Måneskin, has 1.2M views! 🍔🍟 RQ × AleXa collab on rock version of her song "Xtra" (watch MTV Asia video). 🎸 RQ × AleXa collab again on "Pink Drop" (Blackpink BTS mashup). It goes hard! 🧊🔥 RQ/duet collab on Kim Jang Hoon's song "Ice on Fire". There are several music show versions of this, not sure which to recommend -- just be sure it's a duet with Jayoung (some are just RQ playing). 👄 It's incredible how Jayoung's voice can work so well with either AleXa or Kim Jang Hoon. Talent & hard work combined into serious skill!
Ok, you love japanese rock, while we're on that subject You need to hear BAND-MAID and SCANDAL the absolute 2 best from Japan, Please pretty please and thank you

I went to their first ever NYC concert back at the end of May at Mercury Lounge. They put on a heck of a show.

Ok, I was really surprised when you mentioned Halestorm. They were my fave band for a while and Lzzy has one of my favourite voices in music! ♥
I love Halestorm sooooo much Lzzy voice is absolutely amazing 🥰🥰

Arem is, too, at the very least.

same though lol

I checked them out a few weeks ago! I loved their music!!!
Kpop re-uses song titles with distressing frequency, there was about a 60% chance it was going to be something else.
