The Classic car restoration series is back, with our classic Mini Mk1 Conversion. We’re glad to be back and to be able to update you of where we have been over the past few months and to share with you some big news for our next few videos. Also In this episode we take care of one of the important classic mini mk1 shell differences, showing the fabrication work needed to convert this 1989 classic Mini Racing Flame into a 1960 Mk1 Cooper. All in this video.

It’s lovely seeing you both working together. You will always have these videos to look back on. I was only 29 when I lost my dad but I was so lucky to work closely with him and he was a great teacher. Everything I am today is through his guidance when I was young. Live long and prosper 🙏❤

New series? Absolutely brilliant idea, and now your subs are above 10k, I’m hoping your channel takes off, as you and your dad are wicked together.
The rotisserie was used for dipping the shells in a protective liquid (which didn`t live up to promise) and baking. The shell would come off then for assmbly.

Don’t forget that gearbox, and I might still have that rotodip cover panel somewhere, I’ve a funny feeling it had torn at one of the fixing points. Anyway- great to have you back!!

Yes the holes are for putting poles through the shell so that they could round the car through a shallower tank of phosphate (Parkerise proses) to stop rust. Imagine how they would have rusted without it! The Austin A35 had the same holes and set ups - they were made on the same line at long bridge.
That’s really interesting, thanks for the info. I wasn’t sure of the specifics of why the hole was there, I just knew that it was for the production line. I’ll definitely mention this on the next video on the mini as a few people have commented about why the hole is there.

@@upbuild4397 the great thing about those holes is they have standard bolt patterns and are on the centre of mass for both cars. They even used the same carriage jigs to haul them down the lines - different pick ups. I have made replica jigs to move around my workshop

If you can’t get a cover panel you could use the old panel as it has the curve in the panel the same as the replacement one. Just a suggestion. Btw it’s great to see you both again. Sorry to hear about your health issues - hopefully everyone is better now. Dave. Birmingham
