    What a badass concept for that commercial. The tension grew up not knowing what this is truly about until elegantly the lights came into play. What a sleek move.

    s-cinetone was my go to if I didn't want to grade with the A7siii. I never got anything close to as good looking as what you have here. I guess that goes to show it's all in the lighting which I pretty much ignored completely and just shot with available light. Most of my videos were outdoors anyways. The real game changer for me though was when I switched to the Canon R5C which has in camera LUT support. You can make your own .cube LUTs in resolve and load them right into the camera.

    • @DreamDuoFilms
      @DreamDuoFilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, since we don’t shoot with external monitors, don’t have the luxury to preview how it’s gonna look in the edit, but actually I really like how Cinetone looks with natural lighting as well. I think the key is to underexpose the shot always a bit

    • @NickDelDuca
      @NickDelDuca 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DreamDuoFilms I actually don't think I ever tired underexposing it. I don't shoot Sony anymore so I don't have anything to test it on. I have always heard that the way the curve of cinetone works though slightly underexposing it will give you more contrast so it makes sense.

I use my Sony a7III only for photos because I have my BMPCC6k for filming and the image has a completely different character which I like very much. However, I have to say that S-cinetone is a very clean and brilliant PP. It's just a pleasure to watch. Also, totally agree with your Mindeset, if you allready have a good looking Raw footage you definetly don't need lot of time to get a eye caching footage. So more time for fun on the Set :-D . Hi, why do you chose to use the lower limit of 85% on zebras for s-cinetone? Curious to know, since the clipping is pointed to be at 109%+

    • @DreamDuoFilms
      @DreamDuoFilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm, I remember first I heard that anything above 100+ is pretty much useless, but even when I had set it to a 100 I did not like the results I was getting, it always felt a bit too bright and this I wasn’t able to recover the highlights as well as I hoped I would and that’s when I did a bit of research and I think I saw a couple of videos of people saying 85+ is the sweetspot, so I tried it and ever since I have never, not even once accidentally overexposed a shot. I guess my goal is to always underexpose cinetone by -0.5 or -1 because of how much detail you can recover in the shadows, but definitely an interesting subject to discuss. Other people might like the “bright” look more, so I guess it’s a personal preference.
      I’m just terrified to accidentally overexpose S-cinetone because if you do, it just looks so bad 😄
