    I think Cadillac is the brand with the most remarkable product development in the recent years. I also like the casual down to earth atitude of US car executive nowadays. Something that is still quite unthinkable in the German market. What is your impression of any difference in PR between US and Germany/Europe - if there really is any?

    ATS-V is a serious sports sedan

    Great interview Dave! Thanks to MotoMan for bringing it together. The ATS V is the one I'm ordering. In light of the negativity with Que and the instrumentation (I agree you should have put the CTS V instrumentation) but, nevertheless, the ATS V performance against the M3/4 & AMG S63 Don't Lie! The Head 2 Head segment says it all! Great job Dave! Can't wait to get mine. Thanks

    Good show!
    It's good to see GM putting out so many world-class products and iterating to the needs of the market so quickly. I wonder how much Honda would pay to have that kind of discipline on the NSX...

    Man the blackwing 4.2 v8 is such a great motor! I wish they put it in more cars. Soooo much money in R&D to only use the engine in one model and only for couple years. They have had to spent a billion on this motor…

    Hey Motoman and Dave, will there ever be any blackout option for the ATS V or CTS V? Like Land Rover's stealth package for example, thanks!

    Hello Motoman and Dave. I am intrigued by these technical discussions. My Questions: What exactly does the Cadillac Active Chassis System(CACS) in the CT6 consist of? What physical components are involved? Do all of the systems talk to each other thru a central computer system? Does the system increase performance? Is the CACS going to be extended to other vehicles? Thanks!

    The new zl1 has a ten speed. Will the Cts v follow suit!?

  • @DeanBrandon

    Very interested in the new CTS-V... There is so much focus on performance, track capability, etc. Definitely does well there, but-- How about the ride? There are a lot of potholes, seams, and speed bumps around these days. Hate to see cars (BMW, Audi, etc) that have great performance, but such a firm punishing ride.

    They need to put the 10 speed from the zl1 in this thing. it will obliterate the competition.

    Since the wagon is out of the question, what about a coupe of either the CTS-V or the ATS-V.

    • @z28camaro79
      @z28camaro79 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      SpaceG95 There is a coupe ATS/ATS-V. Now a Coupe CTS/CTS-V would be very interesting but I don't see Cadillac making a product bench marked at the BMW 6/M6. I'd love to see it but don't think 6 series customers would cross shop the two.

    If Cadillac wants to be a big player globally they may want to do a diesel and wagon variance for both cars. It's my understanding that wagons and diesels sale well in European countries.

    What dose ATS-V stands for on the Cadillac ?

    • @lordxenu5196
      @lordxenu5196 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael St Louis...The ATS is built off of the Alpha platform, so it stands for Alpha Touring Sedan. I believe the V stands for Victory or Velocity.

    I really like Dave Leone - his answers are completely no nonsense and direct. My question is - will there be something to rival Audi R8 and Porsche 911 in terms of prestigious sportscar? Will Cadillac ever seriously enter European market in terms of marketing (persuading EU buyers to put Cadillac on their consideration list) or is that just not feasible due to European tough traditionalism for buying something from the "wholy german trinity" like M-B,BMW, AUDI?

    • @z28camaro79
      @z28camaro79 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GOINFINITI I'd love to see a Cadillac R8 but can't imagine GM investing in that within the next two generations IMO. It would have to be a bespoke product cause having a Corvette (even as good as it is) with a Cadillac badge won't fly with people.

      ***** Well John you are both right and wrong. Sure Japanese cars are familiar to EU buyers for decades, yet their market share even combined is very low. Just VW group accounts for 25% market share (5% AUDI included in that number) of car sales. BMW is at 6%, Mercedes at 5%. Lexus as main Jap premium is at just 0,2% and they are extremely refined and just as premium as EU lux brans I mentioned. If we talk regular Japanese then its Toyota 4%, Mazda 1,3% Nissan 3,7%, Honda 1% so you can see EU traditionalism is extremely hard nut to crack. As far as US brands especially Cadillac - you are right; EU customers have wrong idea about that brand today as it is now on on the same or sometimes even better level. I for one would go with CTS-V over M5 or E Class AMG based upon what I have seen here. EU has also very strong love for diesel engines - Cadillac could sort that out by outsourcing diesel engines from Opel. I actually work for Carat global agency catering for GM marketing here in EU (for Opel brand) and Cadillac has been very shy in terms of marketing which is a shame since cars are excellent. That also probably has to do with EU Caddy dealership network which is also pretty weak and geographically scarce. So my question is - will they ever up the game in EU or will they invest elsewhere.

      Lord Amadeus I agree - re-badged Corvette would not hack it. But I was drooling when I saw Cien concept car - that would be a perfect weapon for company image and sales booster for entire Cadillac range. They seem to invest a lot on performance judging by latest V range so my question is will they re-visit the idea of car like Cien any-time soon and put it into production? I certainly think that Dave and his team could pull that off with knowledge and technology they have at their disposal. If only GM shareholders would give it a green light - it would be an awesome "in your face" to other traditional sports car brands.

    What about a CTS Coupe?

    • @Nate_H.
      @Nate_H. 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dominic Petty I think they realized that if the market wants a coupe that they should buy a corvette. No point in having a 3900lb coupe… With that said, I understand why they made a coupe for the 2009-2015 (V2) CTS-V… That coupe still looks exotic, but it also looks like somewhat of an afterthought. I think the sedan and wagon flow much better in regards to the V2.

    Two questions:
    Does Cadillac plan on engineering an SRX V variant or XT5 V variant?
    Also did Cadillac take less of a thought process on the SRX? All the generations of the SRX have hard plastics in certain areas. When you squeeze the hard plastics they make this cringe sound that makes you believe you're in a cheap car... In addition the SUV still has standard HID headlights. A Corolla has standard LED headlights.

    Engineering is not the issue with Cadillac. Marketing and quality in the Luxury field is what's hold Cadillac back. Cadillac wants to charge more but there not offering anything that the market hasn't seen or bought. Think higher end leather,surfaces plush and update electronics rid the world of CUE. .garbage. Also the new gauge cluster in the CTS-V is not offered in the ATS-V...Why?
