It's a bitter sweet joy listening to the music. Brings back certain memories of my teenage years. Especially the time of 1997 when I was 14. Hey wow, no offense but I went into this expecting the worst. There's a certain hubris that a lot of "I enhanced the soundtrack to this classic game" people have. This is absolutely not that! This is so incredibly well done. Every track really captures what made the originals so good and helps it shine.
I agree with the sentiment. A lot of "remixes" and "enhancements" go overboard with instruments and very often throw in a pointless bridge section or guitar solo or something. I want to hear the songs as they are, maybe with different instrumentation or a few effects, but no changes to the melody, this does that pretty well.
@@kiyoaki1985 ehh thats kinda the point with remixes but i get where youre coming from when people mould the song into their own then claim it as just an enhancement or a remake. a bit goofy of them i cant lie

@@willseabrook89 Huh, I did not know about that. I was aware that the creator provided a link to download his soundtrack, but I wasn’t sure if there was actually a viable way of putting this music into the game. Thanks for letting me know!
Mmm, imagine a juicy aLttP HD with Super Metroid HD, with built-in single game or both game randomizers. Never gonna happen, but I wonder how many of us would shell out $100 to Nintendo to do it. Two games, HD, with beloved bonus modes of difficulty. Mmm, or even aLttP with a Master Quest version...
@@PhantasmPhoton 4:3 kind of hurts the eyes these days.. with those black sides on modern TV's, but a lot of SNES games are so good that it's worth it.
The coolest thing is that the original characteristics were preserved, keeping each original instrument in its best quality, it was an excellent job and it's very incredible how well-created midi sounds can be converted into better qualities.
So as of now, I've just passed 1000 subscribers. With over 145k views for this video, and 3k downloads for the .PCM files. I gotta say this is a nice change of pace for my channel. And so I want to thank you all for that, as well as for the kind comments and critiques. I know some of you have been asking for the audio files aside from the .pcm pack. So I've put up mp3 and flac links in the description.

Agree, image used is absolutely fucking killer man. This is a gem of a vid, very happy it got thrown into my suggestions after listening to the Donkey Kong Country OST last night.
One of my favorite things about Zelda's music how relaxing and easy to listen to the ambient tracks are. A lot of other remixes, like in ALBW and the ZREO remixes, tend to go overboard. This is a pretty faithful rendition that expands on the originals without over doing it.
TH-cam failed me.... Why hasn't this been in my recommended videos sooner....? Absolutely stunning remakes, yet so true to the original soundtrack! The nostalgia is real!
I prefer this to the “Link Between Worlds” update honestly. The instrumentation is just right to feel updated without going overboard. Perfect middle ground
I disliked Link Between Worlds just aping the Ocarina of Time Soundtrack into its moments. I really felt like the OST for Link to the Past was unique to its own tone, and vice versa. Trying to mix them together cheapens the feel (even if lore-wise, they take place in same universe, different timelines).
Opening Song brought me to tears. I use to play this with an old lady who use to work at a hospital with my mom. She was like my moms big sister. She was the coolest old lady. I didnt know moms knew how to play nintendo. They were like grandparents to me. Buch and Marlene i love you guys and think of you from time to time. The reason im a huge zelda fan and the reason why i draw so much.
Nowadays the vast majority of fans agree in giving Ocarina of Time the position of the best Zelda game of all time. However I am not in that select group, for me, at the age of 12, from the moment I turned on the SNES with the prologue, reading in my barely understandable English (as you can see it's not my native language) and starting with that rain scene, it became the best game that my eyes had ever seen. Of course Zelda evolved and has had great games, but in my heart this will always be the best of all, for its charisma, music, charm, difficulty and story.
Its like when you see crazy graphic mods and say "it looked like this when i first played it" This is the equivalent "this is what it sounded like when i first heard it."
"Guardians" I was like "this is a bit underwhe- OH there we go!" *bobs head* Though the lack of drip drops in the "Dark Dungeons" made me a bit sad. Overall, this is amazong remastering!
The effort put into this, and all else on your channel is remarkable, and definitely not going unnoticed. I sincerely hope you get much more recognition, that which you deserve.
Can't believe it, every track is enriched with just the right pinch of higher fidelity synth, subtle distortion for mystic parts, and sparing chord changes to hit certain feels harder. Your discernment and judgment is really mature, respect.
this is both incredible and beautiful, a link to the past was the first game that I put in the hours and beat myself, all those accompanying songs have stayed with me, and this is a whole new level, I still feel like it's the original, yet entirely new- it feels somehow smoothed and completed, it's almost holy. more people need to hear this, it's a work of art.
25:55 The background melody of Dark World being much louder and easier to hear makes it soooooo much better. I always loved how much it complemented the main melody but it was always so hard to hear since the volume for it was really low.
That soundtrack is brilliant. That feeling... Good times. 1992, 11 years old. I remember that I already loved the music back than. Especially the dark golden land soundtrack... I could stand on top of the pyramid, watch the sunset in the background and listen to that song for minutes. It had a touch of... eternity, I guess. Still has. Maybe even more after such a long time. What a different life...
I actually teared up when I heard Zelda begin. I grew up with Link to the Past, since my family is poor and we only ever had the old SNES. So that Zelda, that Princess Zelda was *My* Zelda. And to hear her theme like this... it’s something I can’t quite describe.
I come from a French Canadian family and this was the only game we could find on the SNES where the whole game would be in french. (other games had language options but they came much later). So in this game, I could actually understand the story and what everyone was saying and it grew on me. Alongside Super Metroid, this became my best videogame of all time.
I feel you, for sure. LTTP was THE Zelda game for me as a kid, and it’s really hard not to feel all the things I felt as a kid when I hear this music. I messed around with it a bit as a younger kid, but finally as a younger teen buckled down and committed to beating it, which I eventually did. It was easy to feel like nobody as a kid. When you played this game, though, you were important, you were a hero (especially to a girl), and you mattered. You got to experience conflict without trauma, and what it felt like to overcome long odds. Damn, I love this game.
40:46 One of the best moments of life was beating A link to the past. Couldn't finish as a kid and went back as an adult to finish it. This song here will always remind me to stay the course, it can take some time but it can be done.
I could never beat "The Adventures of Link"... last boss always got me 🫤 This game was mind blowing when it came out, i remember hearing about it, im pretty sure i bought it right when it came out. There was sooo much to it, never played anything like it. Never heard cymbals utilized in video game music as this... great music!
Ganon and his minions disliked this vid- no other explanation, Thank you for this- it must have taken a lot of hard work and it has paid off as it sounds amazing. Well done!
While i would not dislike it because of the obvious dedication behind it, this remaster is not up to the original, to my ears. Probably too stuck on the way it sounds on the SNES version to accept any other. Claiming so might sound debattable to many, but it still beats disliking a fan remaster without pointing out what sounds wrong or off...or even thinking people can have different tastes.
How about the explanation that people can and will dislike things you like? I mean, imagine that the world doesn't revolve about yourself and it might get clearer.
25:38 and 35:28 - *Sigh* such memories washing over me right now. I'm almost in tears. I loved that time in my childhood. I borrowed Zelda 3 from two of my best friends, brothers who were so busy with music and other activities that they did not play Nintendo very much. But they made a good allowance on cutting grass and other chores, they usually bought a lot of good games for SNES. I played Zelda 3 so much. I admit, I even cheated with the Super Game Genie. But it was SO much fun. The music will always be a favorite part of the Zelda games for me.
Out of all the Legend of Zelda games I've played, this one and Link Between Worlds have to be the top 2 I've played. The music, the story, the connectivity, it's what made these games so lovable in the first place. Well done at bringing me back to the old days of youth.
The prologue could easily be a sum up song for my 90's childhood, full of SNES cartridges, playing in my brother's room, sitting on the floor in front of that small rounded-shaped TV
Currently playing this game with the original game and original SNES. Nothing compares. I go back to this game for the fun of the game but also for the music.
i like hearing peoples thoughts behind the music they make. it adds an extra layer of charm to the experience. thanks for actually sharing your thought process behind why you did this and what you incorporated into each song
I can remember... I rented this game when I was 5 or 6, as the Knight'ish feeling of the cover got me. Most probably my dad was member of that videoclub because I recall having it rented for a long while (maybe I just played until my eyes burnt and I was told to stop, too). I knew nothing about english language back then. I managed to get to the dark world before he had to return the cartridge. Played the game again when I was ~16. Had to translate some dialogues to get to dark world, but managed to finish the game. Man... it felt good, like I completed an achievement for life itself. We did not care for graphics nor realistic moves, we just had fun with our friends in original stories and new places, and shared our tricks to get past dungeons. I miss this simpler times.
God damn. I came here to hate on this, because I hate it when people try to get fancy and redo the music of classic 16 bit video games, as there is something so wonderful about the simplicity of the game that doesn't need a more "complex" reinterpretation of it. But God, this is absolutely perfect. This is so incredibly faithful to the original music, simply enhancing it with a richer depth of sound, while preserving things nearly note for note. This was... tremendous. Thank you.
Everyone take about how amazing the zelda ost’s are but everyone sleeps on the Great Fairy Fountain/File Selection themes. Its so underrated, peaceful, and calming. That song puts me in some crazy deep thoughts when im stressed.
I find the Menu Select / Fairy themes to be really heart breaking. Brings to my mind the idea of a little candle in a storm, or of a baby with a lot of potential in front of them. Delicate and helpless on its own.
It’s too bad that the song “The Sanctuary” is too overlooked in the Zelda series. It has a melancholily, mysterious, and even creepy vibe but has the feeling of peace and nostalgia. 9:16
Check the MSU-1 Hacks Database section of the Zeldix forums (youtube will delete this on me if I include a link...), there's already a MSU mod for Super Metroid with 8 or so different PCM sets.
If you'd like to hear the music with gameplay footage/sfx I had recorded a playthrough with the tracks modded in. th-cam.com/video/fRriYt_zyEs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LHKUvs5CQxrN0HDG
Beautiful! I respect the work that goes into fan versions of songs but they tend to deviate from the melody and/or have pretty pretentiously long intros added on. It's nice to hear stuff so faithful to the originals. It's like if Nintendo gave the game the treatment the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games have gotten.
I remember first playing and beating this in the summer of '92. I had this, Super Mario World and Final Fantasy 2 (now called Final Fantasy 4) and played and beating them also. I had the time of my life, especially since FF2 was the first RPG video game I ever played, so I had to work as I go, although I had the Nintendo Power magazines to help me in tough spots in all 3 games.
The Legend of Zelda series is something else to me. I just recently started playing this game again. I never really did finish it but I know I got really close once when the game was on Wii U. I don't know what it is but everytime i get around to a new Zelda I'm almost always instantly captivated by them. They're some of the most magical and inspiring games on more than just a fun level. And this soundtrack is incredible.
The dungeon puzzles always feel too contrived for me to finish a Zelda game... but like you're saying, I agree the music and the settings are always inviting. They do a good job with striking and easily recognizable characterization.
When your recommendations finally give you something worth listening to. Amazing work on music from my first zelds game. This is truly what it sounded like to me as a kid.
I think the fairy music is heavily influenced from Chopin's fantasie impromptu, the second part of the A section. Just noticed this after listening for years.
The Legend of Zelda- A Link to the Past, will be forever my favorite Zelda game, and though I have missed some, nothing for me will out top it.. loved it's music... So my opinion about this song is.... (You left me speech less..if there was a remastered version for alttp in 3d (not counting ALBW) this would be the perfect renditions to use.) oh and by the way never realized that in the intro story, some notes sound they were used for lke Majora.. oh no...forget about it all...you missed The Duck Call.... T_T....(sike) :P

Agree, image used is absolutely fucking killer man. This is a gem of a vid, very happy it got thrown into my suggestions after listening to the Donkey Kong Country OST last night.
This does a good job of capturing how someone would remember the music
One of my favorite things about Zelda's music how relaxing and easy to listen to the ambient tracks are. A lot of other remixes, like in ALBW and the ZREO remixes, tend to go overboard. This is a pretty faithful rendition that expands on the originals without over doing it.
500k views! The video is still going strong, so I just wanna say thanks again!

I prefer this to the “Link Between Worlds” update honestly. The instrumentation is just right to feel updated without going overboard. Perfect middle ground
Haven't played it yet. Sounds like I need to pick it up
I disliked Link Between Worlds just aping the Ocarina of Time Soundtrack into its moments. I really felt like the OST for Link to the Past was unique to its own tone, and vice versa. Trying to mix them together cheapens the feel (even if lore-wise, they take place in same universe, different timelines).
i was thinking the exact same
It felt like a new sountrack to me with only some tributes to ALTTP. The dungeon themes in ALBW are outstanding and original.
Skyward Sword went overboard to me, didn't felt like videogame music anymore. I actually love ALBW's soundtrack.
Opening Song brought me to tears. I use to play this with an old lady who use to work at a hospital with my mom. She was like my moms big sister. She was the coolest old lady. The music from this game is AMAZING
I can hear the music more clearly than on the original hardware!
my childhood... but, enhanced ^^
It sounds like the soundtrack to a lost remaster of LttP on PS1.
Its like when you see crazy graphic mods and say "it looked like this when i first played it"
This is the equivalent "this is what it sounded like when i first heard it."
this is still my favorite Zelda game, it has something... can't describe...
Thanks for posting this. Takes me back
I'm 40 now and this give me chills in a good way taking me back to early/mid 90s. Subbed on this video alone. Thanks dude.

Though the lack of drip drops in the "Dark Dungeons" made me a bit sad.
Overall, this is amazong remastering!
Yeah, the drips are essential in that track!
Agreed!!! Drips make that track 10x better!!!
I love this game so much I always wished I was link in alttp and not just this one all, but all the Zelda games
The effort put into this, and all else on your channel is remarkable, and definitely not going unnoticed. I sincerely hope you get much more recognition, that which you deserve.
This is simply insanity.
Can't believe it, every track is enriched with just the right pinch of higher fidelity synth, subtle distortion for mystic parts, and sparing chord changes to hit certain feels harder. Your discernment and judgment is really mature, respect.
Just when i tought the Hyrule Field couldn't get any better, i discover this.
this is both incredible and beautiful, a link to the past was the first game that I put in the hours and beat myself, all those accompanying songs have stayed with me, and this is a whole new level, I still feel like it's the original, yet entirely new- it feels somehow smoothed and completed, it's almost holy. more people need to hear this, it's a work of art.
25:55 The background melody of Dark World being much louder and easier to hear makes it soooooo much better. I always loved how much it complemented the main melody but it was always so hard to hear since the volume for it was really low.
I don't know where this video came from or why it showed up on my homepage all of a sudden, but I definitely needed this today.
Feels good man
LOL poor piece of crap
I come from a French Canadian family and this was the only game we could find on the SNES where the whole game would be in french. (other games had language options but they came much later). So in this game, I could actually understand the story and what everyone was saying and it grew on me. Alongside Super Metroid, this became my best videogame of all time.
I understand you man whenever I think of Zelda this is the Zelda that comes to mind and this is also my Zelda no our Zelda ❤️🙏
I could never beat "The Adventures of Link"... last boss always got me 🫤
This game was mind blowing when it came out, i remember hearing about it, im pretty sure i bought it right when it came out.
Finally someone that understands the oomph in the Hyrule Castle music
The credits theme always get's me..
Out of all the Legend of Zelda games I've played, this one and Link Between Worlds have to be the top 2 I've played. The music, the story, the connectivity, it's what made these games so lovable in the first place. Well done at bringing me back to the old days of youth.
First appearance of Zelda's Lullaby: 7:35
4:43 Majestic castle... Majestic tunes... Tears in my eyes
This sounds just like how I remember... oh nostalgia, you silly thing
*sheds a tear*
I've played through with this soundtrack once using Bsnes on retroarch. Was pretty nice.
This was... tremendous. Thank you.
25:38 sounds like something off a quentin tarantino film! Excellent!
Everyone take about how amazing the zelda ost’s are but everyone sleeps on the Great Fairy Fountain/File Selection themes. Its so underrated, peaceful, and calming. That song puts me in some crazy deep thoughts when im stressed.

I love those
I find the Menu Select / Fairy themes to be really heart breaking.

Some gameplay footage in the background would have been dope, although I don't know if you would have got in trouble.
I couldn't stop my smile as I heard this. I grew up on this game, and this is so good
Me too. I was about 5 or 6 years old when this game came out. Me and my childhood friend at the time played it almost non stop
I agree, the world's in Zelda games really feel alive. It's a series where every mainline title is a masterpiece.
Amazing. This was and is my fav Zelda game and soundtrack
Great enhancements. Though, I could still find things I would personally nitpick, as a harsh critic, it sounds awesome overall. Very nostalgic.
