  • In this video, we kick off our series on creating renderings inside of Blender. This first video will introduce you to rendering, how to access the rendering settings in Blender, and how to create a simple first rendering.
    In the future, I'll be adding videos talking about different concepts having to do with Blender rendering, including lighting, materials, maps, and much more!

    Quick tip for comparing renders: Instead of fiddling around with screenshots, you can just in hit the 2 Key in Renderview to switch to another renderslot before you render the second image. It will then be rendered to that slot and you can quickly switch between them with the 1 and 2 keys.

    You know that there is a 3 point lighting addon and if that fails you can just use an environment background, point the background image to the world folder in your blender install directory for the native hdr images that material preview uses.

    Hey Justin, I am mostly using Sketchup for architectural modeling and rendering (using Enscape mostly). Do you think that Blender is good for this type of work?
    I like how Sketchup is intuitive and precise with measurements and seems to be aimed more for architecture than Blender, but on the other hand Blender is Free, has better performance and it should handle bigger models easier. What are your thoughts?

    • @TheCGEssentials
      @TheCGEssentials  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends - if you're just rendering maybe. It doesn't seem to be the best out of the box for precision modeling for plan creation

    • @thcyprus
      @thcyprus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCGEssentials Thanks! This was my initial conclusion also, but I wondered if this could change as I learned blender better.

    • @StefanoVerugi
      @StefanoVerugi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Blender is moving very fast
      If I were you I’d stick to it, it’s a bit frustrating when you start using it but you can get most of SU modelling in a far more diverse environment
      With this course it’s much easier, thanks to Justin
      Other thing is SU LayOut, I’m not sure you can have it in Blender just yet

    • @TheCGEssentials
      @TheCGEssentials  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StefanoVerugi This is correct - nothing is really built into Blender for the actual exporting and printing of plans. Thanks!

      Sounds like you didn't actually position your actual camera, just your view in the 3D viewport. You need to actually move your camera so it's looking at whatever you want to render
