Thanks! It was a great boat while I had it, sold it after I bought the Vagabond (shown in other videos, still have it). Trying to keep as many of these on the water as I can!

Thanks, it was a great boat! I ended up selling it when I bought a larger Vagabond model with a 6 cylinder mercury engine on it :)

I've been shopping for a decent Feather Craft since last year. So far no luck

They are a bit hard to find, but they are out there! Best of luck in your search!

I have a 1954 Deluxe runabout (am also going to sell, but mine is a stripped hull with no motor)
I am curious though my engine control mount is on the port side, as was the steering wheel when we got the boat in 1956
I was just curious if anyone knew why that was
all the rest are on the starboard side

@ Rolesville Marina - actually, I've seen many Feathercrafts which originally had the steering wheel and controls mounted on the port side of the boat. Now that I think about it, both of my Feathercrafts (the DR in this video) and my 1953 Vagabond at some point had the wheel mounted to the port side, as indicated by drilled out holes (covered up by accessories or rivets added back to them).
I think as time went by, more and more owners wanted the steering wheel and controls mounted to the starboard side of the boat to match newer models they were used to, and have the controls operated by their right hand, rather than their left?

did you ever have four people on it? if so howd it ride

Yes, I had had four people in it on a couple occasions! It rode fine, but did slow it down, even with a 35 HP motor. I'd say low 20's from what I remember in terms of speed, and took it a bit to get on plane from what I remember.
Honestly, I think with that much weight in the boat, it's probably more suited for slower leisurely crusing and less 'blasting' around like with one or two people.
I'd also say this with my 15' Vagabond that I have now.

      Thanks.
To each their own. At the time, I think I used it because it was "1950's sounding"....it came from Epidemic Sound from what I recall, which we still use.
What music to use in these videos is an ongoing discussion on this channel. And most people don't have an attention span to say on without background music, so we continue paying that subscription fee and lose money to be able to use it 😂
