I started following your channel when the subscriber total was in the 100's, and remember your "goal" of retiring and going full-time farmer. It happened a LOT faster than you anticipated, for sure. Livin' the Dream, Evan......good job.
If you've not already done so, it is time to add a magnet to the side-by-side toolbox so that when you next drop screws/washers in the grass it is easy to locate them. The is looking good, while not as smooth as you might want.
A roller after seeding should do that pretty well. Did many a suburban lawn that way and rolling the seed in helps keep the birds from eating it all. Makes it harder anyway.
Field looks great, Evan. Hope for a nice ground soaking rain...no gulley washers. Your canned veggies look mighty tasty. Enjoyed seeing you round up the steer and the ram....like playing in a maze. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Put a chunk of chain from the drawbar to the harrow. Because if you turn to short you'll catch the harrow's front bar on the back wheel and it'll bring it up and do damage. Been there, done that.
Hey Evan, just a thought...turn that harrow over, spikes up, then roll it up from the pipe end into a cylindrical shape. Weeds can't grow up through it. Happy farming!
looking forward to seeing a new pasture! Pete from just a few acer's far got me in to watchin you and am interested on the science on getting a new field going from scratch. Pete loves his grass
Evan, another good video. Thank you for taking us along on your life on the farm. It is keeping you busy, but is probably the most rewarding type of work. Have a great rest of your week.
Hey Evan, I have been following you from the very beginning. I love the fact that you are able to do this full time now. Great content! One thing to keep in mind when working the field is not to go at a 90-degree angle from the last work. Try going at about a 30 degree angle. It will still grab all the spots missed but will be way smoother to work the second time and also level out alot nicer as well. Keep up the great work, this Canuck is rooting for you!
Great job Evan. Good luck with Shorty, he knows he can jump the two strand wire so that won't hold him now?? Enjoyed the cleaning of the hay field in preparation for planting. Hope the roller settles the rows down smother for you. Stay safe and keep up the great videos. Fred.
Hi Evan, thanks for the great video again from an old man to a younger man. Evan you gotta learn to work smarter, not harder. If you hurt your back it will never recover. I got 550 mm of back fusion. Trust me it’s not fun having a bad back, I can’t bend overonly by the hips , that water tank, you need to put some zip ties, so it doesn’t move around and wasting depressives. What resource water without water there’s no life Cliff from Australia
You can make a leveling drag from 2 pieces of old steel I-beam (RSJ) 7 feet long, laying on their sides, one behind the other, connected by chains about a yard apart. Make up a vee towing chain for it and it will level pasture and last a long time.
Evan, by the time you read this it will be after the fact, but might help don the road. With the 2 7/8 pipe you may have left. Cut a piece 12-14 long then attach ome heavy duty old chainlink fence to it. Doubleif you have it. Makes a great drag and doesnt clog up too bad. Ive used one for years. The extra width will save you trip times. Just a thought you might like. Love your videos. Hope you get the rain. Dust sucks.
I'm glad you put out a video tonight. I'm literally watching this during a hurricane south of New Orleans. Livestock will find a way to the greener grass.😂
Maybe you can cut some of the cattle panel that is behind the water trough in the barn just enough so the trough slides back enough so the waterer and hose is protected behind the fence. Enjoying the content!
Love watching your program.....l grew up on a dairy farm & still have farming in my blood....l'm retired but have the privilege of helping out on my son in laws cash crop farms....my suggestion for your weeds growing in your machine storage area, l'd suggest spraying with Roundup
If you would like to double the width of the drag harrows buy another drag harrow then take a piece of the oilfield tubing you have to make a drag harrow pull bar. make you a 3-point chain hook-up on the tractor side. Then connect your two drag harrows on the opposite side of your drag harrow pull bar with eye bolts with nylon locking nuts
Could have pulled that drag (spikes up) behind that spreader for one trip, it has a tow hole in a bracket on the rear frame of the spreader. Looks like you need to get an air ride seat for that tractor ! LOL (Joking) but they do make them for small tractors. Chickens are huge, they waddle when they walk.
You do t have to wait for rain to drill your grass, it can sit in the ground for weeks no problems, heavy roll after you’ve drilled that will help bring any moisture up to the top
You need to talk to Pete about buying a bull calf from him. That breed of beef said he has would go good with your two jerseys. Those bulls are very gentle.
A 10 foot piece of chain link fence with some center blocks or 2 old tractor tires bolted together will make a great drag for leveling up the field and covering the crop
Hello Evan my thoughts that field is not good. Around here there are alot of coyotes with that being so high you might run into issues. Enjoyed your video. Have a great day.
I have 4 heavy built drag harrow sections I get for scrap they all have adjustable teeth I never haul them off for scrap unless they are really bent up I get a lot of stuff I can use that people just want hauled off when they are cleaning up
Too late for this project but go buy yourself a 10’ Brillion cultipacker and pull that directly behind your tractor and in front of your drill or other planting implement. It will crush the clods and give you a nice even seedbed
Thanks again for the info and learning. I’m a beekeeper not a farmer per se so I love learning about this and how to do all you’re doing. Question: you’re obviously getting tons done now that you left your job!! How do you like being a full time farmer?
Good idea on the cross disking, but always make your final pass in the direction of normal travel so it doesn’t rattle your teeth loose for the next several years.
On the big properties in Australia they use helicopters to herd their stock, so perhaps on your smaller scale the drone could be used. At least it would help in locating them.

Hi, Evan! I sure did enjoy this video. I was smiling the whole time I was watching.
Try hanging the fence drag, it would eliminate the grass. Love your channel and Glad you have gone full time as a TH-cam creator ❤️
I am ecstatic he left his job. His smile never goes away. He is doing great work.
When you were repairing the gate latch, and dropped the washers I thought of a suggestion for your toolbox---a magnet on a chain.
Those escapees can be a real problem in that situation, but you got them back with the others. Enjoyed watching, I hope you have a good evening!
Happy to see you back mate and hope you are all doing well too

Larry and the Lambs with their number one hit "He ain't heavy he's my Bovine" and their new single "Mia, Moe and Me"
Nothing better than a new CVA video.

Just got done with Hurricane Francine down here is south Louisiana. Happy to send it your way if you need rain.

Enjoyable video today!! TY
You spread the seeds and we can pray for rain - check☑️ .

Evan, I'm beginning to think those animals are enough to drive you crazy at times! Good working herding them back into the area they belong!
You can make a leveling drag from 2 pieces of old steel I-beam (RSJ) 7 feet long, laying on their sides, one behind the other, connected by chains about a yard apart. Make up a vee towing chain for it and it will level pasture and last a long time.
Nice video Thanks.
Don’t overthink like me, you create unnecessary steps in a lot of what you do,luv u guys😊
OMG How dry is it! From Indy…..
😂😂😂😂 whoops there he goes, he jumped the fence 😂😂😂 best video so far!
Evan, by the time you read this it will be after the fact, but might help don the road.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👌Busy times!!!
Boy that's dry....hopefully you'll get the rain.
Looking good
Fingers crossed for the rain 🤞
Fun on the Farm with Evan,
HI Looks like Francine might be visiting you this weekend. She just landed in south Louisiana about 50 miles East of my location.
You need Roundup, or some organic equivalent(dawn dish soap and vinegar and salt), for just those areas, and around building foundations, etc.
You can use the Polaris to pull that drag. Little more fuel efficient probably. Great video as always.
True, but awful dusty.

Thanks for posting Evan
U making major improvements. Great job!
Yoder YS 640S highly recommend for your new smoker / grill and you can bake and sear on it too.
Love watching you russel up the live stock. My be you should invest in a dog to keep order. Keep safe.
Good stuff Evan :)
i think its because the wire touched the grass..making the current weaker..try to move the poles a bit so the wire doesnt touch grass..hope it helps
i keet some sort of snap hook or something of the sort on 2 way gate latches if not used daily to keep em closed without a chain on the lock slot
While u are looking for old disc plows for donner disk, look for another drag you can make yours wider
Bouncy....:)❤
That is a nice, large field.
Plowboy tan coming in pretty good
You need to talk to Pete about buying a bull calf from him. That breed of beef said he has would go good with your two jerseys. Those bulls are very gentle.
Great video. Hope the rain comes for you. All the best 🇬🇧.
You need to add some sort of inverter to charge tool batteries on your side x side.
Evan....you'll probably try running 10 mph......wow...LOL
A 10 foot piece of chain link fence with some center blocks or 2 old tractor tires bolted together will make a great drag for leveling up the field and covering the crop
Finding a cheap older cultipacker would smooth out that field nicely too.
I hope yall get that rain
Enjoy videos
Great job
Hello Evan my thoughts that field is not good. Around here there are alot of coyotes with that being so high you might run into issues. Enjoyed your video. Have a great day.
"I closed the gate cause yer being a butt-head" 😂😂😂
I have 4 heavy built drag harrow sections I get for scrap they all have adjustable teeth I never haul them off for scrap unless they are really bent up I get a lot of stuff I can use that people just want hauled off when they are cleaning up
I understand you won’t have a lift for the chain drag ready today. Tomorrow is fine. We aren’t unreasonable. 😉
Plant it and wish for rain. Inches 👍👍👍
Wash your spreader down with diesel from preventing in to rust and seize up the fertilizer and rust up
The field looks good and ready for planting. The canning looks good too. 🙏❤️
The harrow on the back of the disc would also work. Twice as wide.
"7 miles an hour. We're gonna fly" 😂
Too late for this project but go buy yourself a 10’ Brillion cultipacker and pull that directly behind your tractor and in front of your drill or other planting implement. It will crush the clods and give you a nice even seedbed
Time to polish up your rain dances!
You’re gonna have get yourself a horse and a cowboy had if you’re going to be herding cattle in that jungle, Evan. Yee-haw!🤠
Run your electric fence line up the middle of your track
I hope you get rain. Central Ohio is way behind on rain. Worst year since 1989
Yep, remember that year.
Thanks again for the info and learning. I’m a beekeeper not a farmer per se so I love learning about this and how to do all you’re doing. Question: you’re obviously getting tons done now that you left your job!! How do you like being a full time farmer?
I think Hurricane Francine is going to help out with the rain for you 😉🙏
Thanks for the video and good luck in your venture
Bouncy! Bahaha!
Good idea on the cross disking, but always make your final pass in the direction of normal travel so it doesn’t rattle your teeth loose for the next several years.
Nice job.
need several more sections of drag cover more areas $$$ save
Love them lil Sonne frames cow seeds!!!😊
Thanks Evan!
On the big properties in Australia they use helicopters to herd their stock, so perhaps on your smaller scale the drone could be used. At least it would help in locating them.
Those go pro cameras are very durable. I ran one of mine over with my ATV, and their isn't a scratch on it.
Could you not use the drone in the future to try & herd out of pastures?
You need a magnetic pick up stick from harbor freight
Every gate should have a chain and a snap to guarantee livestock can't get the gate open
love your videos. do you really like being a farmer?
Evan, are you ever concerned about sorghum fodder and prussic acid?
prussic acid happens when it freezes. and makes the sorghum poisonous for 10 days. I will just close off that area for a couple weeks.
@@CountryViewAcres thanks for the answers
